Maruska Aras

Maruska Aras was born in 1996 and grew up in Zadar. She completed a five-year acting program at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb. She resides and works in Zagreb.
Primarily known for her roles in short films, Maruska has also made occasional appearances in feature-length films and television dramas in episodic roles. She has collaborated with esteemed directors such as Mirna Zgrabljic, Nikica Zdunic, Ivana Kragic Marinic, Vanja Juranic, Mate Ugrin, Tomislav Soban, Aldo Tardozzi, Lukas Nola, Jasna Nanut, and others during and after her academic pursuits.
One notable achievement includes her lead role in the film "Nun of Your Business," which garnered numerous awards at various film festivals.
Maruska works as an external associate assistant in the acting department at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb under the guidance of Borna Baletic. Additionally, she teaches several drama sections for adolescents, including theatre and film workshops. Since receiving her diploma in 2019, she has played roles in various theaters such as HNK Varazdin, HNK Split, Teatar &td, Teatro Verrdi, Eurokaz, and Zar ptica. In addition to her education at the Academy, she continues to hone her skills through various theater workshops, focusing on physical theater and clowning.
Maruska develops her own artistic expression in her projects and, in addition to her professional institutional engagements, realizes independent productions in collaboration with Teatro Verrdi, where she explores her theatrical language and signature. In 2020, she was awarded a special prize "for outstanding and forgotten stage freedoms" at the Be:femon monodrama festival in Becej for her roles in the play "Skoljka sumi," directed by Hrvoje Korbar. She is a member of HDDU (Croatian Dramatic Artists' Association) and works as an independent artist.
