From his first part-time job working as a theatre usher on a Canadian Military base in Germany, Joly spent two decades working in media. During his undergraduate program at Queen's University he founded the Van Allen Belt - a rock group that recorded two albums and toured with acts that included The Tragically Hip, Wilco and Primus. After graduation, he directed award-winning shorts, worked as a stage manager at the Just for Laughs festival, and worked at every level of production on films, television and commercials in Toronto. Relocating to Vancouver he founded Overinteractive Media to develop dimeRocker, a cloud-based platform designed to accelerate the creation of branded social games, gamification and social TV strategies that was a finalist for "Best New Media Technology" at the 2010 CNMA Awards. Building on that framework, he subsequently co-founded The Coup Company to find, market and finance independent films. The Coup platform other creator-based content platforms including Telus Storyhive. Along with being a Highline Alumni, Mr. Joly sits on the board member for Vancouver International Film Festival and an advisor to the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television.
