D'Angelo "D'Lo" Louis is a writer/director/producer from Richmond, California. A place where resilience isn't just an asset, it's a necessity. From an early age, D'Lo grasped the values of hard work and accountability. However, life's challenges eventually led to a decade-long sentence in California's Correctional system. It was in this unlikely setting that his creative spirit flourished. Within the confines of those walls, D'Lo experienced a significant transformation. Encouraged by a close friend, D'Lo immersed himself in writing.
Released in August 2018, D'Lo embarked on a new chapter. The very friend, a filmmaker, who'd inspired him to write during his darkest days, offered D'Lo an entry into the world of cinema. Just five months out of prison, D'Lo found himself navigating the complex pathways of the film industry, juggling roles as both a director's and producer's assistant on projects such as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Space Jam: A New Legacy. His unique perspective, shaped by his experiences, would infuse authenticity and depth into his future projects.
Today, D'Lo is also a Creative Executive at Proximity Media, a multi-media company behind projects like Judas And The Black Messiah and Creed III, where he earned an Associate Producer credit. His diverse roles have included ensuring story authenticity and contributing to soundtracks. Beyond film, D'Lo's talents extend to directing music videos, commercials, and managing artists. His journey from the streets of Richmond to the corridors of Hollywood highlights his resilience and remarkable capacity for transformation and growth.
