Is the decade-long “The Voice” Instant Save curse about to be broken? If John Legend‘s Florida singer Omar Jose Cardona ends up winning Season 22 during the Tuesday, December 13 finale, he’ll make history as the first artist to prevail who was previously saved by social media users. Since the creation of the Instant Save twist in Season 6, none of its recipients have ever gone on to win “The Voice.” Britton Buchanan (Season 14) and Toneisha Harris (Season 18) came closest by each placing second behind their winners, but all of the other times the saved artist finished near the bottom of their respective finales.

For Kennedy Ann Scott, performing in drag offered a lifeline. She’d been bullied by kids in grade school and subjected to physical harm for being a boy who was, in their judgment, too effeminate. Discovering drag — she cites To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar as a touchstone — opened Scott’s eyes to the possibility of turning the very things her tormentors hated into a source of power.
“It taught me to find the confidence that I never thought I’d have,” Scott says. “It taught me how to be me.

Camila Cabello may be the rookie coach on Season 22 of “The Voice,” but the pop diva quickly proved she doesn’t back down from what she wants. On Monday’s premiere episode, Camila hit her block button on Gwen Stefani almost instantly after the first performance began. The mysterious voice was Morgan Myles, a 35-year old musician from Nashville singing Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.” John Legend was next to turn his chair followed quickly by Blake Shelton. The fight was on. Watch Morgan’s full blind audition (without the results) below.

Egot winner John Legend joined “The Voice” coaching panel in its 16th season, quickly becoming an attractive option to hopeful winners. The R&b crooner proved to be a powerhouse negotiator when it came to recruiting contestants with four-chair turns, bagging three in his first season including the eventual champion Maelyn Jarmon. But with just one blind audition episode remaining in Season 20, Team Legend has yet to recruit a single four-chair artist. Has Team Legend lost its mojo? Or will the coach come roaring back on Monday’s episode?
With the blind auditions winding down, Kelly Clarkson is out front with two four-chair artists: 22-year old country singer Kenzie Wheeler (for whom she successfully blocked Blake Shelton) and 20-year old pop artist Anna Grace. Nick Jonas snagged 21-year old Zae Romeo and Shelton won over 20-year old country crooner Avery Roberson.

Though our current predictions suggest otherwise, John Legend heads in to this week’s “The Voice” finale with a decent chance of claiming his second trophy as a coach. To do so he and his last standing artist, John Holiday, will need to overcome their current 100/1 odds in our derby. Below we run down Holiday’s performances and consider how he could best Carter Rubin, the frontrunner from Team Gwen Stefani, as well as Team Kelly Clarkson‘s Desz and both artists from Team Blake Shelton, Jim Ranger and Ian Flanigan, to win in a shocking upset.
Shocking the coaches is exactly how Holiday began the season. On the premiere episode it took three words (“Look at me…”) for Legend to turn his chair for the opera singer, and in doing so blocked he Kelly who was doubly shocked to learn she’d been blocked but also that it was...

Early on in Monday’s Season 18 premiere of The Voice, veteran coach Blake Shelton playfully grumbled, “This is gonna be a long season.” And, as bummed as I still was over the outcome of Season 17 — Jake Hoot’s fine, but Katie Kadan and Rose Short were great — I suspected he was right. But doggonit, no sooner had the Blind Auditions gotten underway, with Nick Jonas joining Blake, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend in the iconic swivel chairs, than I was, as always, sucked right back in. Kelly Clarkson knows a thing or two about taking home the top spot on a reality show. Clarkson, who won the first season of American Idol, guided Jake Hoot, her team member on The Voice, all the way to the top spot and crowned the victor on the Tuesday, Dec. 17 finale of The Voice season 17. Hoot bested Rose Short from Team Gwen Stefani, Katie Kadan from Team John Legend and Ricky Duran from Team Blake Shelton. This is Team Kelly's third win as a coach on The Voice. "It means the world," Hoot said about the win. "Having Kelly believe in me from the get-go and be here tonight is just an incredible thing."
