You might think that The Gilded Age, HBO's mannered period drama about feather-light conflict between members of the upper crust in 1880s New York City, doesn't have anything in common with Gen V, a spinoff of The Boys where college students get their heads lasered off by sociopathic superheroes. And you'd be right...except for one thing: both of them are greatly expanding their casts ahead of their new seasons: that's season 3 for The Gilded Age and season 2 for Gen V.
Let's start with The Gilded Age, which counts the likes of Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Louisa Jacobson, Denee Benton, Taissa Farmiga, and Harry Richardson among its cast. Deadline reports on six new cast members coming aboard for season 3, some of them playing real-life figures from the time:
Dylan Baker (The Good Wife) is Dr. Logan, who treats super-fancy high society familiesKate Baldwin is Nancy Adams Bell, the older sister...

“Gen V” has added seven new cast members to the popular “The Boys” spinoff series, which returns for Season 2 in 2025.
The new additions include Keeya King (“Yellow Jackets”), Stephen Kalyn (“Warrior Strong”), Julia Knope (“In The Dark”), Stacey McGunnigle (“This Hour Has 22 Minutes”), Tait Fletcher (“The Mandalorian”), Wyatt Dorion (“Eerie Hall”) and Georgie Murphy (“Accused”).
For now, there are no confirmed details about the actors’ characters, but they’ll likely come in as new Godolkin University students, staff members or, perhaps, some of the Vought crew.
Returning cast members from Season 1 include Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh and Asa Germann. The Friday casting news comes nearly eight months after the tragic death of Chance Perdomo, who played GodU favorite Andre Anderson in the first season. He died at age 27 in a motorcycle accident in March.

The Boys series on Amazon has enthralled audiences ever since its first season in 2019. The superhero series differentiated itself from the top studios churning out films in the genre by its satiric take on the genre and the current political climate. Additionally, the show goes hard with its action and violence while also providing complex characters.

The Boys spinoff series Gen V was received by the audience with much appreciation. The story and the characters didn’t disappoint, and just like the main story, the spinoff too, became a fan favorite. Antony Starr, who plays Homelander in The Boys also made a cameo in Gen V, much to the amazement of fans. But one actor was sad to have not gotten the chance to work with him and the rest of the cast of the Amazon Prime show.

Patrick Schwarzenegger played Golden Boy/ Luke Riordan in Gen V, a supe with pyrokinesis and superhuman strength. Unfortunately, Luke’s character died in the first season of the show. Schwarzenegger did not get the opportunity to work with Starr, who appeared in the last episode of Gen V season 1. And now, seems like the actor is lamenting this missed opportunity.

The following article contains mild spoilers for season 4 of "The Boys." Reader discretion is advised.
While it isn't completely necessary for fans of "The Boys" to watch the spin-off series, "Gen V," the two are intertwined and one particular plot point from "Gen V" is hugely important in season 4 of "The Boys." Thankfully, it's something pretty explainable, and "The Boys" does a decent job of making the big points clear, but "Gen V" gives the full backstory on what could turn out to be the deadliest thing Vought has ever created, and that's including the homicide-happy Homelander (Antony Starr). After designing Compound V and creating superheroes, the scientists at Vought also created Temp V, which can give people temporary powers but has some rather nasty side effects. In "Gen V," Godolkin University students Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Andre (Chance Perdomo), Jordan (London Thor/Derek Luh), and Emma (Lizze Broadway) discovered that...

“The Boys” media franchise expanded in 2023 with an Amazon Prime Video spin-off titled “Gen V,” which tells the story of young superpowered individuals (aka “supes”) attending Godolkin University. Composer Matt Bowen, who works on both shows with Christopher Lennertz, tells us that the “one million dollar question” was how to differentiate the music between “Gen V” and “The Boys.” “It was a new corner of the world and needed a new identity, but at the same time, we couldn’t depart too far from the sound of the world,” he explains. With The Boys season 4 premiering next week, Prime Video is gearing up to begin work on season 2 of Gen V, its The Boys adjacent spin-off.
Midnight Mass actor Hamish Linklater is joining the cast as Cipher, the new Dean of Godolkin University. Variety described Cipher as “the charismatic and charming newly-appointed Dean of Godolkin University. Trained as a scientist, he’s politically brilliant, and has the trust and admiration of officials at the highest level.”
The series follows young superheroes as they study and train at Godolkin University; they then have the opportunity to join The Seven if they rank highly enough.

The upcoming second season of Prime Video's Gen V has added its first new cast member, with Legion and Midnight Mass alum Hamish Linklater set to join the ensemble as the new dean of Godolkin University, Cipher.
It sounds like this character was created for the show (though he could end up having a comic book counterpart), and is described as “the charismatic and charming newly-appointed Dean of Godolkin University. Trained as a scientist, he’s politically brilliant, and has the trust and admiration of officials at the highest level.”
The previous dean, Shelley Conn's Indira Shetty, came to a messy end in season 1 when Cate Dunlap's Maddie Phillips used her mind control powers to force the duplicitous villain to slit her own throat.
Showrunner Eric Kripke has previously confirmed that the Gen V finale will directly tie-in to the events of The Boys season 4.

Back in March, we got the tragic news that 27-year-old Gen V actor Chance Perdomo has passed away after a motorcycle accident.
Perdomo had been a major part of The Boys spin-off series, and his character, Andre Anderson, was going to feature heavily in the planned second season.
Showrunner Eric Kripke and the show's producers recently put out a joint statement confirming that another actor would not be brought in to play Andre, and the season would instead be "re-crafted" to pay tribute to Perdomo.
"As we continue to navigate the tragic loss of Chance Perdomo, everyone at Gen V is determined to find the best way to pay respect to his memory. We won't be recasting the role, because no one can replace Chance. Instead, we have been taking the time and space to re-craft our season 2 storylines as we begin production in May. We will honor Chance and his legacy this season.

Chance Perdomo’s “Gen V” character Andre Anderson will not be recast for Season 2 of “The Boys” spinoff series.
Perdomo died at the age of 27 in March as a result of a motorcycle accident. In a joint statement released on Sunday, the “Gen V” producers said they will not recast the role because “no one can replace Chance.”
“Instead, we have been taking the time and space to recraft our Season 2 storylines as we begin production in May,” the statement continued. “We will honor Chance and his legacy this season.”
Perdomo starred in the first season of “Gen V” as Andre Anderson, a student at Godolkin University who harnesses magnetic manipulation abilities. In the season finale, Andre — along with fellow students Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), Jordan Li (Derek Luh and London Thor) and Emma Meyer (Lizze Broadway) — is last seen being held in a high-security facility after the massacre at God U.

Amazon Prime has had a string of successful comic book adaptations, with both The Boys and Invincible being major hits. Now, building on the success of The Boys, the streaming service released a spin-off series titled Gen V back in September 2023. The series ran for eight episodes in total and was yet another smashing hit for the streaming service, which – of course – led to the announcement of a second season. And while we don’t have any release window as of the time of writing, we do have some exciting filming updates that could narrow down the possibilities.
The Boys is probably one of the most popular comic book adaptations ever made. The series is simply on a run, and with Season 4 arriving soon, there is a lot of good to expect from the future of the franchise. Gen V was ordered and produced as a functional spin-off of The Boys...

Gen V may have wrapped its freshman run late last year, but the cast is already slated to return for another exciting chapter as Prime Video renewed the college-set spinoff of The Boys for a second season. Following the finale, TV Insider caught up with stars Jaz Sinclair, London Thor, Derek Luh, Lizze Broadway, Asa Germann, and Patrick Schwarzenegger, who weighed in on cast and character superlatives. In the video above, they get silly and candid about everything from who would be least fazed by the chaotic world of Gen V to which of them is the “neat freak” of the group. (Credit: Prime Video) But perhaps one of the most important questions they’re answering is which character from The Boys (which returns for a fourth season this year) they’d most like to share the screen with at some point. “Butcher and Kimiko,” Thor answers easily, referring to...

In 2019, Lizze Broadway was at San Diego Comic-Con when the whispers began. “The Boys are coming. The Boys are coming.” A few minutes later, castmembers including Karl Urban and Jack Quaid walked by, seemingly in slow motion. “For a show I knew nothing about, this moment stuck with me big time,” says Broadway, who plays size-changing student Emma. Four years later, Broadway and her fellow cast were preparing to show off Amazon’s college-set The Boys spinoff, Gen V, at their own Comic-Con panel — a chance to assure the 4,800 or so fans of The Boys who were packed into the convention center that the new series would be just as raunchy and violent as the mother ship. The strike derailed that. But, months later, the Gen V team tells THR how it would have gone down.

As a member of the “Gen V” cast, Chance Perdomo has gone through many on-set experiences specific to those in “The Boys” franchise: being repeatedly covered in fake blood and bodily fluids, shooting scenes with giant genitalia, and saying some truly filthy lines coming out of a superhero’s mouth. But Perdomo has another surprising connection to “The Boys.”

Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for the Season 1 finale of “Gen V, titled “Guardians of Godolkin,” now streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video.
You’ve had a week since the “Gen V” Season 1 finale to theorize about where Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Andre (Chance Perdomo), Jordan (Derek Luh/London Thor) and Emma (Lizze Broadway) are at the end of “The Boys” spinoff’s cliffhanger episode. So, do you have a plausible explanation for the medical facility with no doors that the four supes are stuck in?
It’s Ok, we don’t either, and just like “Gen V” showrunner Michele Fazekas, star Luh is no help to us by keeping his lips sealed — even though he’s finally allowed to talk about the Amazon series after the SAG-AFTRA strike ended — and refusing to be the spoiler-ific Tom Holland of the Vought Cinematic Universe.

Antony Starr and Karl Urban — who star on Amazon’s Prime Video drama “The Boys” as Homelander and Billy Butcher, respectively — reprised their roles in the Season 1 finale of “Gen V.” And it turns out they were gracious enough to do it on their “day off” from filming as Homelander assists some fledgling supervillains and Billy ties the Supe virus storyline to “The Boys” Season 4.

This article contains spoilers for Gen V season 1.
The first season of The Boys spinoff Gen V is coming to a close this week, and it seems like we’re in for a wild ride as the young supes of God U struggle to decide how to move forward after discovering the true nature of The Woods and its experiments.
With Dean Shetty (Shelley Conn) now dead at Cate’s (Maddie Phillips) behest, the threat of the virus seems to be quelled for now, but that doesn’t mean that Cate’s thirst for vengeance has. This article contains spoilers for Gen V season 1 and The Boys through season 3.
From the beginning of The Boys spinoff Gen V, Indira Shetty (Shelley Conn), the dean of Godolkin University, has appeared to be just another person whose morals have been bought by Vought.
