Ahead of Sunday’s telecast of the Primetime Emmy Awards on ABC, Nielsen has unveiled its ranking for the most-watched titles and talent nominated this year.

“The nominees for the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards demonstrate the power of both new and long-running programming to attract viewers’ time and attention,” the ratings firm said in a Thursday statement. “By understanding how audiences are voting with their time, brands and platforms can ensure they’re reaching audiences where they are and create meaningful partnerships with the talent they are investing their time in.”

In order to align with Emmy rules, Nielsen focused on the eligibility period of June 1, 2023, to May 31, 2024. For the Best Drama and Best Comedy categories, Nielsen measured time spent watching the season that occurred within that window for which a given title was nominated. The Crown is preparing for the end, and the trailer for the final six episodes brings to life what creator Peter Morgan has told audiences to expect from the hit Netflix drama: A love letter to the Queen.

The final episodes will draw to a close the genre-defining prestige royal saga that has been on screens since 2016, says the logline, and the footage centers around Queen Elizabeth, played by Imelda Staunton, as she battles sentimentality that the royal family is out of touch with the country, while reflecting on her reign as the longest-serving monarch in history and the life she put aside to become Queen.

In a poignant moment that speaks to the late Queen, The Crown‘s monarch says, “I will always be by your side.”

The first look photos for the second half of season six — which will mark the end of the hit royal drama — show a grown-up Prince William and Prince Harry following the death of their mother Princess Diana (played by Elizabeth Debicki), and introduces Meg Bellamy as the highly anticipated Kate Middleton. Exclusive: The director of Netflix drama The Crown‘s episodes re-creating Princess Diana’s death in Paris 26 years ago has revealed the extraordinary efforts that went into ensuring it was handled with tact.

Speaking exclusively to Deadline, Christian Schwochow, who directed the three crucial Season 6 episodes that feature what are likely to be some of the most talked about moments on television this year, said that though shots were filmed of Diana, played by Elizabeth Debicki, in the Paris morgue, there was never any intention of them being included in the final edit.

The Crown is signing off after six seasons later this year, but Netflix may not be done with the royal drama's universe.

In a new interview with Variety, series creator Peter Morgan has revealed there is a chance we could get a prequel series.

"I do have an idea," Morgan told the outlet.

"But first, I need to do some other things.

"Second, it would need a unique set of circumstances to come together."

Morgan is staying tight-lipped about the plot but believes it would take us back in time to before The Crown's Elizabeth II storyline.

"If I were to go back into The Crown," he shares, "it would definitely be to go back in time."

Netflix revealed a teaser trailer and the release plan for the sixth and final season of “The Crown,” which will launch in two parts.

Part 1, comprised of the first four episodes of Season 6, will release in a batch on Nov. 16, 2023, just before Thanksgiving. Part 2, which consists of six episodes, lands Dec. 14 ahead of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Both drops are timed for binge-viewing with the family.

“The crown is a symbol of permanence,” Claire Foy’s Queen Elizabeth II says as a montage of Foy’s young queen transfers to Olivia Colman’s middle-aged version plays in the teaser trailer. “It’s something you are, not what you do.”

Exclusive: Luther Ford, who is playing Prince Harry in the upcoming final season of The Crown, has signed with talent agency Hamilton Hodell.

Ford, whose appearance in The Crown will be his debut, has signed in all areas apart from press, where he is represented by Pinnacle PR.

Ford is one of two Prince Harrys starring in The Crown Season 6. In the earlier episodes, the Duke of Sussex will be played by Fflyn Edwards, opposite Rufus Kampa, who plays Prince William. In the latter episodes, Ford replaces Edwards and Ed McVey replaces Kampa, and the pair will feature in the episodes where their mother, Princess Diana, is tragically killed in a car crash.
