She studies Audiovisual Languages at the Autonomous University of Nuevo León and does an academic exchange to the Complutense University of Madrid. She performs the specialty of Cinematographic Script at the Faculty of Cinema in CDMX; and has a master's degree also in Film Script at Script Media, Spain.
She writes live-action and is a script specialist for animation. Selected at the Festival Pixelatl 3 consecutive years with more than one project, both serial and feature film. One of them, acquired by Ánima Estudios, and another winner of the Ideatoon 2018 award.
Script Doctor of the short film "El Tigre sin Rayas", winner of the Folimage Studio in Annecy 2017, eligible at the 93rd Academy Awards Oscars 2021 to compete for Best Short Animated. IMCINE jury for the 2019 short film call.
Winner of the FONCA Young Creators 2019-2020, in the Script category Film. Winner of the Promocine 2020 Film Production Contest and the Support for the Short Film Production of FOCINE 2021 with the script "Postludio".
During the pandemic, she co-creates "The Adventures of Covi" where in addition to the scripts, she gives life to the voice of the protagonist. This project is recognized by media such as "El Heraldo de México" and "La Jornada". She writes "Catalina la Catrina: day of the dead special", a medium-length film for BlimTV and Channel 5. She writes "Daughters of witches", a short film made for HULU with Yalitza Aparicio as the protagonist.
Karen is from Hidalgo and lives in Mexico City. In addition to writing, she is part of The Assembly MX where she performs Improv Comedy presentations with her team "Captain Cat".
