S.W.A.T., CBS‘ armored vehicle of a cop drama, which has twice staved off cancellation, batters its way into an eighth run with a new member of the unit, Devin Gamble, who was recruited from the Oakland Pd by team leader Hondo (Shemar Moore). “She literally jumps right in, sprinting Sha’Carri Richardson-style, and dives off of a pier into the sand, catching a bad guy,” Ilonzeh says of the premiere’s opener. Gamble’s gold medal policing has to do with a deep need to overcome her crime family roots. We spoke with the actress about joining the team. (This interview has been edited for length and clarity.) What’s Gamble all about? Annie Ilonzeh: She’s a badass and works her ass off. She can shoot. She’s super dope. She’s athletic and that’s what I love. You see a woman and she’s in her femininity...

The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris have been the talk of the town, the town being the entire world. From the return of old fan favorites like Simone Biles and Sha’Carri Richardson to new instant celebrities like Stephen Nedoroscik and Henrik Christiansen (Aka “Pommel Horse Guy” and “The Norwegian Muffin Man”); from time-honored events in track and field to new competitions in breakdancing and skateboarding; from volleyball in front of the Eiffel Tower to dressage at the Palace of Versailles; social and traditional media were abuzz from the second the opening ceremony started to the moment the closing ceremony ended (and that’s not to mention everyone’s favorite game: What is Snoop Dogg Doing in Paris Today?). There is so much to be excited about and so many events to watch, but there’s one thing that really sets this year’s events apart: the advertising at the Olympics. Things...

Not all of the breakout stars of the Paris Olympics took home the gold. For every photo of champs Simone Biles and Sha’Carri Richardson, the world’s collective attention was also caught by a bizarre breakdancing routine and, yes, that pole vault guy.
Here, in no particular order, is TheWrap’s list of the biggest viral stars of the games.

Whether he was wearing riding gear with Bff Martha Stewart or proudly promoting various athletes like gold medalist Noah Lyles via custom Olympic gear, the Doggfather, who was also an NBC commentator in Paris, was clearly having the time of his life. One picture in particular, of a startled-looking Snoop in the stands, quickly became the “surprised” meme du jour.

This morning, cameras spotted Thomas outside of CBS studios in New York City.

Netflix documentary series director Jamila Farwell has exited the streamer after six years, TheWrap can reveal exclusively.
After heading up the docuseries division since 2021, Farwell departed the company, according to an individual with knowledge of her departure. It’s unclear if the exit stemmed from restructuring efforts. Netflix declined to comment on Farwell’s exit.
Prior to being named as director of documentary series, Farwell served as a manager of creative documentary series since joining Netflix in 2018. She also served a producer for “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and holds producing credits for “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars,” “Preachers of Detroit,” “Flint Town,” and “Ladies of London.”
Netflix’s documentary division has recently launched several series, including “Simone Biles Rising,” which became last week’s No. 3 most watched English series with 3.8 million views, “Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal,” “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders,” “The Man with 1000 Kids” and “Worst Roommate Ever,...

Sunday saw the second biggest U.S. audience of the Paris Olympics so far with more than 35M viewers tuning in across NBC, Peacock and other platforms.
That’s more than double the comparable Sunday audience for the Tokyo Games (17.4M cross-platform viewers), headlined by medal-worthy performances from Noah Lyles, Suni Lee, and Bobby Finke.
Sunday’s coverage was streamed by 4.5M viewers on Peacock and NBCU digital platforms alone, according to the company.
This year’s Olympics couldn’t be going any better for NBCU, as the Summer Games have been raking in huge audiences daily. Beginning with the opening ceremony, the 10-day total audience delivery is around 33M viewers across the combined live Paris Prime (2-5 p.m. Et) and U.S. primetime (8-11 p.m. Et/Pt) time periods. That’s an 80% uptick from Tokyo.

Sha’Carri Richardson came to the Paris Olympics and had high hopes for the gold medal. However, she lost out to Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia and went home with the silver medal. She was good enough to win, but she fell short when it came to the championship for one big reason.
Here is what happened to Sha’Carri Richardson when she lost to Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia.

Sha’Carri Richardson prepared for her big shot at the 100-meter finals at the Paris Olympics. There was one problem that came with this. We may be four years away from Los Angeles hosting the 2028 Olympics, but if Hollywood is famous for anything, it’s a glitzy, starry early tease. Filming from a Universal Studios soundstage in Studio City, California, legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg delivers a welcome to the 2024 Paris Olympics that ties the perfect link between cinema and these historic games. The short, entitled ‘Land of Stories,’ begins with Spielberg walking onto a set with a big blue-screen behind him that eventually transports him to a street corner above the Seine with the Eiffel Tower in the background, all courtesy of his friend George Lucas’s Industrial Light & Magic.
As Spielberg narrates, with clips of his films and past Olympic games interspersed, he explains the personal importance “telling stories” has for him. In the short, he said, “From the very origins of the idea, The Olympics have always been what you might call,...

The opening ceremony of the Paris Games is barely over, and already its starting to look a lot like the #Beylympics, at least to Team USA.
Having given Vice President Kamala Harris permission to use her ‘Freedom’ tune for her newly launched Potus campaign, Beyoncé is now flying the flag for Simon Biles, LeBrone James, Sha’Carri Richardson, Noah Lyles, Caeleb Dressel, Katie Ledecky and all other American athletes competing in France over the next 16 days.
In a video that dropped during NBC and Peacock’s primetime replay of Friday’s Opening Ceremony, the hatted and booted Cowboy Carter superstar gave her ‘YA YA’ hit a revamp for the hometown team. “Get a look at America, y’all,” Beyoncé declared as Biles, Men’s Gymnasts Fredrick Richard and Asher Hong, and others appeared on screen. “These hopes and dreams, these superstars that represent us.”

Viewers of the Paris Olympics will expect to see plenty of Simone Biles, Katie Ledecky, Sha’Carri Richardson and LeBron James when they tune into NBC later this week to watch the athletic extravaganza. They may also get glimmers of another familiar visage: Hoda Kotb.

Starting this week, close to 3 million people will descend on Paris for the 2024 Olympic games. But when some elite athletes step off the field — or lane, or pool, or field — and into the village, they won’t just be experiencing a monumental life experience. They’ll be clocking into their day jobs: content creation.
While most people think of the medals, attention, and national pride Olympic athletes receive during competition, underneath the praise is a grueling infrastructure that requires competitors to put up hours of practice and tens of thousands...

As her star has risen as the world’s fastest woman, Sha’Carri Richardson has always honored her roots. As Vogue’s cover star ahead of the Paris Olympics, she included some of her family — her sister, an aunt, and several cousins — in her photo shoot. The next-best known member of Richardson’s family may be her grandmother Betty Harp, who she affectionately calls “Big Momma” and is the person who raised her. After both of Richardson’s Olympic-qualifying runs in 2021 and earlier this year, she ran to the stands and into Harp’s arms.

The new Netflix documentary Sprint follows some of the world’s most elite sprinters as they prepare for the biggest championship on the track and field calendar. Viewers are introduced to athletes like Noah Lyles, Sha’Carri Richardson, and Marcell Jacobs competing across the international Diamond League circuit. Throughout six episodes, we get to see the dedication and sacrifices required of these incredibly talented individuals as they push their bodies to the limit in pursuit of gold.
While the 100- and 200-meter distances may only last seconds, we learn that the journey of an elite sprinter is measured in years. Preparation is intense and demands a huge commitment. We witness their grueling training regimes and get a glimpse into both their professional and personal lives. Whether it’s overcoming injuries or the pressure of living up to past achievements, each athlete faces challenges. But it’s their drive and belief in themselves that make them champions.

The calendar flipped to July this week. There is plenty of ongoing scripted programming to help you pass the time indoors and away from the oppressive heat and humidity of summer. But in terms of new shows, Netflix’s latest sports documentary series, “Sprint: The World’s Fastest Humans,” is the highlight of the long holiday weekend.
The streaming service’s newest addition is a six-episode series that offers viewers a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to be not just an elite athlete but one of the fastest people alive. A perfectly timed primer for the Paris Olympics later this month, the show — all episodes of which are now streaming on Netflix — follows top sprinters throughout the 2023 World Championships, including Americans Sha’Carri Richardson and Noah Lyles, and Jamaican superstar Shericka Jackson, among others. If you can keep up, “Sprint: The World’s Fastest Humans” is the awards contender to watch this weekend.

Gold medals are one thing, but for many wealthy Americans heading to Paris for the Olympics, running July 26 to Aug. 11, there’s more to their must-dos than seeing Simone Biles, Sha’Carri Richardson and LeBron James compete — or spotting NBC Sports’ “chief superfan commentator” Leslie Jones taking in the action.

Budapest, Aug 26 (Ians) Both Yulimar Rojas and Haruka Kitaguchi triumphed at the World Athletics Championships with their final attempts while Noah Lyles added the 200m title to his 100m crown. Yulimar Rojas, the world record holder and Olympic champion in the women’s triple jump, was far from her best form as she was eighth in 14.33m with only one jump to go, reports Xinhua.

Budapest, Aug 22 (Ians) Debutant Sha’Carri Richardson outshone several renowned sprinters to clinch the top spot in the women’s 100m race at the World Championships on Monday.
The 23-year-old American, beginning inconspicuously from the ninth lane, surged impressively, clocking a new tournament record of 10.65 seconds, Xinhua reports.
In a riveting face-off at center stage, Jamaican veterans Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson vied for dominance. Fraser-Pryce’s season-best of 10.77 seconds fell short against Jackson’s 10.72 seconds. The pair could only observe as an elated Richardson jubilantly celebrated on the track.
“I’m here. I’m the champion. I told you all. I’m not back, I’m better,” expressed Richardson, who had missed the Tokyo Olympic Games due to a suspension for cannabis use and failed to qualify for the previous year’s World Championships because of subpar performance.
Holding five world champion titles in the event, Fraser-Pryce divulged her intent to forgo the 200m race.
