A staunch believer in independent cinema's wide appeal and commercial viability, Alex Mitow is the founder and principal of Sherpa Films. Imagined as a development, distribution, and marketing apparatus primarily for films with LGBTQ+ themes or by queer creators, Sherpa uses savvy techniques to both put artists first and gain wide audiences for their work + achieve commercial success.
Beyond Sherpa, Alex serves on the advisory board of the North Fork Arts Center, a non-profit re-envisioned historic quadplex cinema in Greenport, NY, on Long Island's North Fork. He's also a board member at the Tampa International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival in the Tampa Bay Area, as well as the CEO of Superfine Art Fair, the US' largest art fair for independent visual artists with outlets in NYC, Washington DC, Miami, Savannah, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle. He splits time between homes in Shelter Island, NY, Brooklyn, NY, and Mexico City, Mexico.
