- Turned down a $1-million offer in 1985 to appear in a Gillette razor commercial, which would have required Gibbons and Hill to shave their beards; they claimed they were "too ugly" to be seen without them.

- The first songs that they played live in a movie were, in order: "The Battle Cry of Freedom", an instrumental version of "Doubleback" and "Clementine", all of which they played as the band at the town festival to dedicate the courthouse clock in Back to the Future Part III (1990). "Doubleback" was the only original song of the three, the other two dating back to before the film's time period. In the DVD commentary for Back to the Future Part III, it is stated by the director that the band was actually playing, but they were not playing what is heard in the finished film.

- Their 1983 video "Legs" was filmed at a shopping center located at 14530 Nordhoff Street in Panorama City, California.

- The only member of the band who actually played on their 1984 hit "Legs" was Billy Gibbons. All the other instruments heard on the record--drums, bass, synthesizer, etc.--were played by studio engineers.
