"If you knew what I knew, would you stop me...?" Vertical has revealed an official trailer for a crime thriller revenge film titled The Bastard Sons, arriving to watch on VOD this week. If anyone cares to watch. The film marks the feature directorial debut of actor / writer Kevin Interdonato, who stars in, co-wrote, and produced this film in addition to directing. A misfit crew of small-town gangsters in New Jerseey enact brutal vengeance after an inside job ends in the murder of the head of their crime family, their Boss. They wage a brutal war to regain control of the business and get their pound of flesh. Kevin Interdonato stars along with Charles Malik Whitfield, Frankie Edgar, Joseph Sernio, and Kirk Ponton. This looks as mediocre as any movie can, featuring bad cinematography and even worse performances spun around a plot we've seen 100 times before. Cutting a silent trailer...

The latest film from director John Fallon, the founder of the Arrow in the Head horror section of JoBlo, is a hardcore thriller that was originally announced under the title Braek – and while it will still have that title in some territories, in others it’s now known as Malicious. That’s the title it will have when 4 Digital Media gives it a VOD release in North America on October 10th… and with that date just a couple months away, a new trailer and poster for the film have arrived online! You can watch the trailer in the embed above. Our friends at Coming Soon got the first look at the poster, which can now be seen at the bottom of this article.
Malicious will also be reaching VOD in the UK and Ireland on October 16th.

The SAG-AFTRA strike has studios questioning release schedules, film festivals wondering who will show up, and indie filmmakers interrogating their own projects to understand what’s possible and what’s out of reach. For some, it means opportunity while others need to make tough choices.
Actor and producer Victoria Vertuga’s indie horror feature, “Cold Blows the Wind,” was accepted at the Days of the Dead Film Festival, which runs in Los Angeles August 25-27. When SAG called the strike, she sought clarity about what she could and couldn’t do for her film.

MidWest WeirdFest have announced the full program for 2023. The 7th annual film festival – a cinematic celebration of of all things fantastic, frightening, paranormal, and just plain weird – takes place March 3rd – 5th, 2025 at the Micon Downtown Cinema in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Among the fest’s fantastic line-up of horror, sci-fi, underground and documentary cinema, are several fantastic films that will be premiering at the event. One of these is Braek (pictured above), a genre-bending crime caper come rural horror movie. Says Braek director John Fallon:
The making of Braek was a suicide mission and I couldn’t have pulled it off without my small yet efficient cast/crew. Better to go to war with 15 lions than a 100 sheep as they say. We are very proud to have our USA premiere at Midwest WeirdFest, a festival that I’ve always esteemed. Braek is more than just another ‘home invasion’ type...

Showtime announced today that they have cancelled City on a Hill after three seasons. The crime drama starred Kevin Bacon as a veteran FBI agent and Aldis Hodge as an up-and-coming city prosecutor. Together, the pair worked together to clean up corruption in Boston.
“City on a Hill concluded its successful run on Showtime with its Season 3 finale,” Showtime said in a statement. “We have had nothing but the best experience working with Kevin Bacon, Aldis Hodge and the entire cast and crew, led by showrunner Tom Fontana and fellow executive producers including Jennifer Todd and Jorge Zamacona. We offer our sincerest thanks to everyone.” The series was created by Chuck MacLean, who also executive produced alongside Tom Fontana, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Barry Levinson, and more. The third season of City on a Hill wrapped up in September, and THR hears that the choice to cancel the series was made some time ago.

Towards the tail end of 2016 I was trawling my Twitter feed for something new and interesting, when I stumbled across what looked like a really intriguing low-budget indie movie that was a cut above a lot of what you find out there. I contacted the director, Anthony, and we kinda hit it off. He sent me a copy of the film, Bad Frank, and asked if I would like to do a review, which I did (Bad Frank review).
I kept in touch with Tony as he hit the festival trail and was always happy to hear how well it was doing. So as you can imagine when I found it was getting a much bigger release in order to have a much bigger audience… Well, I am really happy for Tony and his crew; and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to interview him as Bad Frank prepares to hit VOD next month.

Getting a film out in the world is a tough business, but for writer/director Mark Nistico, the effort behind his feature debut "Blue Collar Boys" has paid off with some recognition. Traveling the festival circuit, the movie earned Best Picture (Micro Budget) at the Toronto Independent Film Festival, as well as Best Screenplay at the Hoboken Film Festival. And while it won't be getting a nationwide release, it may be one to pay attention to if it screens near you. Starring Gabe Fazio (who co-stars opposite Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper in the upcoming "The Place Beyond The Pines"), Kevin Interdonato and Bruce Kirkpatrick, the story centers on Red, a 27-year-old construction worker must take over his father's business in order to save his family. With foreclosure threatening the family home, Red teams up with his friends to set things right the only way they know how. In the...

Women work-out at a gym. That was a conspicuous gym, who'd want to work out displaying themselves to any old pervert or weirdo. Not to mention voyeurism! And it was on the ground floor too, that's just inviting trouble. A man outside watches a woman leave and follows her. A 911 call is made reporting a murder about to occur right now, by what sounds like a man, at first. That voice was too mechanical, emotionless and monotone to be an actual voice. Instead of a dead woman, as we'd expect to have been found, it turns out to be a dead man. He was "beaten, bound and gagged, shot three times - it's about to happen..." Flack (Eddie Cahill) reports the call was made at 11pm by an unidentified caller. Mac (Gary Sinise) comments every Vic of the Prospect Park rapist was found within a mile of where the Db was dumped.
