Adaptations of TV shows do not always end up working, but the American version of The Office stands as an exception. One of the most beloved sitcoms based on the Brit series of the same name, the series is soon getting a new spinoff starring the Og star, Oscar Nuñez.

While we will have Nuñez back, unfortunately, we won’t be getting one of The Office‘s most popular actors, Steve Carell. Given that it has some big shoes to fill and high expectations from the loyal fanbase, the upcoming spinoff should bring back some key cast members. These three key actors can not only attract fans but also bring back the charm and humor that made the Og American series a cultural phenomenon in the first place.

Yeppers, it's true! The Office reboot just confirmed its first returning star, and the excitement for the in-the-works continuation series has officially increased. Obviously, all of us fans are excited to see what's in store for the upcoming Peacock follow-up of the beloved sitcom, but let's be honest, we're all waiting to find out who from the original could be coming back.
Well, our first Dunder Mifflin alum has boarded the reboot to reprise his character: Oscar Nuñez will bring back his character Oscar Martinez. Variety notes that Oscar will not be a central character in the new series set in the same universe as all our favorite characters. Additionally, he's been part of the pilot script from the beginning and will be in the mix with the other new characters.

Oscar Nuñez will return as Oscar Martinez in Peacock’s follow-up series to “The Office,” Variety has confirmed.
Sources say Nuñez will not be the central character in the upcoming mockumentary sitcom — which takes place in the same universe as “The Office” — as it is an ensemble series. But he is part of the show’s character mix, and has been in the opening script from the beginning.
There are no further details regarding Oscar’s role or storyline in the new show, which Greg Daniels is creating and executive producing with Michael Korman (“Nathan For You”).
As of now, Nuñez is believed to be the only “Office” cast member who will appear in the follow-up series (right now still referred to as the “Untitled Daniels/Korman Project”) — but it has been noted that since it lives in the world of “The Office,” there was always a chance that characters...

Whether Andy going off to anger management training or sailing off to the Bahamas, Ed Helms’ absence from The Office has been quite noticeable. Well, guess what? The actor was actually struggling with scheduling conflicts between the NBC sitcom and his hit blockbuster movie The Hangover.

To be fair, it wasn’t just Ed Helms who was balancing between The Office and Hollywood projects, even Steve Carell was having scheduling conflicts due to film offers. But, while the actors on the show were more lenient towards Carell and his timing issues, Helms’ absence sparked a cold war on set. He soon realized that he was nowhere near the beloved Michael Scott actor.

“Maria” cinematographer Ed Lachman has won the top feature-film award at the American Society of Cinematographers’ ASC Awards, which took place on Sunday evening in Los Angeles.
The film, which charts the final week of opera diva Maria Callas’ life, is one of the five nominees in the Oscars Best Cinematography category and won over fellow Oscar nominees “The Brutalist,” “Conclave,” “Nosferatu” and “Wicked,” as well as “Dune: Part Two” and “A Complete Unknown.”
In the 38 years that the ASC has been giving out an award for feature-film cinematography, its winner has gone on to win the Oscar for Best Cinematography a little less than half the time, with the two voting bodies agreeing 18 times and disagreeing 20 times. Recently, though, the ASC and Oscars have gone to the same film more often, with four matches in the last five years.

This article contains spoilers for "Reacher" Season 3.
One of the recurring aspects of "Reacher," apart from bad guys with short lifespans, is middlemen who get involved with the wrong people. In Season 3, this position is filled by Bizarre Bazaar CEO Zachary Beck, who has already seen his family suffer at the hands of his "business partner," Julius McCabe, formerly known as Xavier Quinn (Brian Tee). To make matters worse, all this corruption and illegal activity has caught the attention of DEA agent Susan Duffy (Sonya Cassidy), who, following a botched undercover operation, sends in our boy Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) to keep tabs on what's happening. After Reacher poses as potential muscle for the businessman, Beck's world soon gets turned upside down as traitorous activity begins to reveal itself, deals go south, and the bad guys closest to him end up very, very dead.

The Office became a huge ratings success thanks to the brilliant anchoring performance from lead star Steve Carell. However, Carell exited the series during its seventh season with actor James Spader being chosen as his replacement for season 8. Nonetheless, Spader’s stint lasted only one season, with one executive feeling he wasn’t the right fit.

Although Spader was a household name when he signed on to play the lead in the sitcom’s twilight years, executives pinpointed the reason he wasn’t the ideal replacement for Carell, who did most of the comedic heavy lifting for the series in the earlier seasons. Here is what one executive producer on The Office had to say about Spader being a poor replacement for Carell.

Fairly or not, Michael Scott's (Steve Carell) departure from "The Office" in Season 7 marks the dividing line between what many fans deem "Good Office" and "Bad Office." But there was another big departure after that: Ryan (B. J. Novak) left the series at the very beginning of Season 9, along with his on-and-off girlfriend Kelly Kapoor (Mindy Kaling).
Unlike Michael, however, Ryan and Kelly leaving was not treated with a lot of fanfare. One minute they were a part of the show and the next minute they weren't, and all their coworkers simply went about life as usual. When interviewed on the "Armchair Expert" podcast in 2021, Novak explained his reasons for leaving the show as both an actor and a staff writer. The basic gist was that after eight seasons, he was sort of exhausted:

The Office remains one of the most beloved sitcoms of all time, but its later seasons left many fans divided. While James Spader’s Robert California is often criticized for the show’s decline after Steve Carell’s exit, a growing number of viewers argue that the real issue was Ed Helms’ Andy Bernard.
Despite Spader’s commanding performance, Andy’s transformation into an insufferable, self-absorbed manager ultimately did more damage to the show than Robert California ever did, at least according to some fans.

To say that people love "The Office" would be a bit of a dramatic understatement. The NBC sitcom, which is based on the short-lived U.K. series of the same name, ran for nine seasons, going off the air in 2013. Although it's been off the air for more than a decade, it remains insanely popular. So much so that it's one of the core things helping to keep Peacock afloat in the streaming wars.
Like many shows, the later seasons of "The Office" are pretty widely considered among the worst. There are many reasons for that but one core reason is that by season 9, several of the show's mainstays had departed. Steve Carell left the role of Michael Scott behind at the end of season 7, for example. But season 8 also saw core cast member Mindy Kaling, known for her portrayal as the dramatic Kelly Kapoor,...

In 2018, two of the most popular actors in Hollywood, Jeremy Renner and Jon Hamm, joined forces to create a wild and true account of a decades-long game between friends in the movie, Tag. Jeremy Renner has become an elite action hero in films where he tends to play soldiers, spies, and military men, while contemporary actor Jon Hamm is better known for comedy roles and drama. However, despite the two actors usually appearing in very different projects, the pair did join forces in 2018 for Tag.
Prior to this, the actors had one other collaboration in a minor crime thriller with a star-studded cast that included Ben Affleck and Blake Lively. However, The Town never got much traction. Tag, on the other hand, has recently climbed the charts in Prime Video's library of films and stands out as a film well worth watching for anyone who missed it when it came...

Jon Hamm is best known as a prolific TV actor. He has been nominated for eighteen Emmys, primarily for his acting, winning his first Emmy in 2015 for Outstanding Lead Actor for playing Don Draper in Mad Men. More recently, he was also nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Fargo and The Morning Show, respectively. Late last year, Hamm debuted a role in the Taylor Sheridan series Landman, a new series that has become incredibly popular.
Though Hamm's biggest acclaim has come from television, the actor has also had a number of film roles. He first played an unnamed role in the Clint Eastwood movie Space Cowboys, but has since gone on to have bigger parts in films such as The Town and Million Dollar Arm. In season 3 of The Office, Jason Krasinski’s Jim Halpert hid Andy’s phone in the ceiling tiles, and even though the prank itself was harmless, Ed Helms sustained an injury for real while depicting Andy’s frustration.

Notable for starring in many notable comedies throughout his career, the actor garnered notoriety following his portrayal of Andy Bernard. Not only did he cement himself as a regular on the sitcom after debuting in the third season, but the actor soon left an indelible mark on the show, both figuratively and literally in The Return, which proved to be daunting for him.

Let’s face it: After Michael Scott left, The Office didn’t just trip; it face-planted, rolled downhill, and hit every comedic rock on the way. Sure, Steve Carell’s exit was a massive blow, but the show’s decline was more of a group effort.

Filmmaker Todd Phillips rose to fame with his work on The Hangover trilogy. Despite extensively working in the comedy genre, Phillips shocked everyone with his take on the DC Comics Clown Prince of Crime in 2019’s Joker. The film starring Joaquin Phoenix in the titular role was a critical and commercial success.

In an interview, Phillips discussed the genesis of the Academy Award-winning DC movie. At the same time, Phillips criticized the current state of the comedy genre primarily because of the rise of woke culture. As a result, Phillips was driven to make Joker because of his disdain for the woke culture, and here is what he had to say about it.

Steve Carell once handed out more than laughs; he handed out spankings. And one Marvel star owes their rise to a hilariously awkward moment in The Office. Yes, the infamous spanking scene might’ve made audiences cringe, but it was a career-launching jackpot for this actor.

The characters in Dunder Mifflin always managed to make us laugh. During its nine-season run, The Office‘s worst episode is rated at 6.4 on IMDb, which speaks a lot to the quality of the series. Unfortunately, that sad title goes to the 19th episode of Season 8, titled Get the Girl. It was an Andy-focused episode and Ed Helms’ character wasn’t exactly fan-favorite like Michael Scott.

Which Hangover Role Did Paul Rudd & Jack Black Turn Down? ( Photo Credit – Wikimedia )
Picture this: Paul Rudd as Phil in The Hangover. Wild, right? But nope, it almost happened, and then… it didn’t. Director Todd Phillips, the man behind The Hangover madness, initially wanted Rudd for the role that eventually went to Bradley Cooper. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paul Rudd and Jack Black passed on the chance to join the chaos of The Hangover crew. Why? Well, reasons. Scheduling conflicts, creative choices, whatever it was, didn’t click.
Todd Phillips had a challenging casting journey. While Ed Helms snagged the perfect role as the relatable, everyman Stu, Phillips struggled to find the other characters. He first envisioned a brother-in-law character played by someone like Jonah Hill. As per The Things, Todd eventually looked at Jake Gyllenhaal and Thomas Haden Church before landing on Zach Galifianakis. The result? Alan became the standout character,...

This actor from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) may have had his MCU debut in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but his 2013 comedy movie is now trending on Netflix. The Guardians of the Galaxy 3 cast saw the return of many fan-favorite MCU characters, including leading characters Star Lord/Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldaña), and Rocket (Bradley Cooper), among others, but there were also brand-new faces. Among the new additions to the MCU in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was Will Poulter, who played Adam Warlock in the movie.
The McU's Adam Warlock proved interesting, in part because there were several differences compared to Adam Warlock in the comics. At present, it's unclear what Adam Warlock's MCU future could look like, which raises questions about Poulter's continued role in the franchise. However, Will Poulter has been in a number of other movies, and one, We're The Millers, is now trending on Netflix,...

Warning! This post contains spoilers for Father Figures.
Owen Wilson and Ed Helms' 2017 comedy Father Figures was added to Netflix in November 2024, and the movie's ending is full of a number of shocking twists and turns. Father Figures' cast is star-studded, although the movie did not perform well when it was released seven years ago. Even now, Father Figures has a 17% critic score and 26% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
However, there is a case to be made that Father Figures is underrated, not only because of the cast but also because of the movie's themes. While it may not rank among Owen Wilson's best movies, Father Figures has heart, which the movie's conclusion confirms. In fact, the ending of Father Figures is arguably where the movie shines the most.

Ever notice how the young thespians portraying Audrey and Rusty Griswold in the Vacation movies kept getting yoinked and replaced? It wasn’t because they were terrible actors. The problem was the movies’ infrequent release schedule, meaning the actors always aged out of the parts before they had a chance to film another one. Here’s the definitive ranking of the five pairs of Audreys and Rustys rolling around the comedy multiverse.
5 Vegas Vacation
Ethan Embry and Marisol Nichols are older, more jaded versions of Rusty and Audrey — which makes sense, given the film’s location. With the help of a fake ID, Rusty somehow wins five cars playing slot machines. And Audrey gets sexualized for the first time in the series, landing a job as a go-go dancer after visiting a strip club with her pole-dancing cousin. Yuck.

TV shows need compelling protagonists, but some great shows end up having more interesting supporting characters. The main character is the one who advances the plot and carries the bulk of the show's drama, but this doesn't always guarantee that they will be the audience's favorite. Supporting characters have the opportunity to bring something different to the show, and they are unburdened by the need to directly impact the main plot.
Comedy shows are more likely to have supporting characters who outshine the protagonist. In drama shows, the story is usually too important, so the protagonist has to be the most interesting character or the entire show could fall flat. Comedy offers a bit more leniency, because audiences don't necessarily need to be captivated by the main character's personal journey to enjoy the humor of the show and the subplots.

The 2017 R-rated comedy movie Father Figures is a creative road movie that follows two adult brothers as they attempt to find their biological dad. After learning that their mother had lied to them their entire lives, Kyle and Peter are determined to figure out who their father is and set off across the country to find him. Along the way, they meet various men who could potentially be their father, and the brothers bond over their various adventures, creating a tale that is both funny and, at times, heartfelt.
Though the R-rated comedy received a lackluster response from critics and audiences and was not financially successful upon release, streaming audiences are now reassessing the movie and are realizing just how funny it actually is. Father Figures' quirky and underrated plot is supported by a cast of A-list stars that includes seasoned comedy veterans and expert dramatic actors.

They're the most famous duo to play the Griswold children, Audrey and Rusty, so why didn't Juliette Lewis and Johnny Galecki return beyond National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation? Of the original National Lampoon's Vacation movies, the third outing Christmas Vacation has emerged as the favorite. Of course, the holiday setting gives audiences an excuse to revisit it every Christmas, but it's also just the funniest and warmest. The sequel continued the unspoken tradition of recasting Audrey and Rusty each time, with Juliette Lewis and Johnny Galecki inheriting the roles from Dana Hill and Jason Lively.
Christmas Vacation found Lewis and Galecki at the beginning of their acting careers, with the duo soon finding fame elsewhere. Owen Wilson and Ed Helms's 2017 comedy movie Father Figures is now available on Netflix and it deserves more respect than its reputation would suggest. 'Tis the season for everyone's annual holiday movie watch (and/or re-watch), that magical time of year where we gorge ourselves on all manner of films that take place in and around the holidays. For some cinephiles, this means delving into the darkest depths of "is it a Christmas movie because it has one scene with a decorated tree in it?," while for others, it means a first-time or 70th-time viewing of canonized holiday classics. One of the joys of watching a vintage Christmas film for the first time is seeing some of your favorite actors turn up looking impossibly young. For instance, this writer just watched 1995's "Home for the Holidays" the other night, and was delighted to see a younger Robert Downey Jr. doing his signature motormouth patter.
While that film is a bit obscure in the holiday canon, "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" is a movie that almost needs no introduction.

The Office has some of the most hilarious moments ever produced by the sitcom industry but the thirteenth episode of season 4 takes the cake for it all – Dinner Party. When Steve Carell’s Michael Scott invited Jim & Pam and Andy & Angela to his place for dinner with Jan, a glimpse into their hilariously dysfunctional life had all of us in splits.

Whether it’s because of the tiniest plasma screen that Michael showed off or Jan’s awkward dance to her assistant’s song, Dinner Party remains gold throughout the years. As it turns out, the cast had a tough time filming the scenes thanks to Steve Carell who, surprisingly, didn’t think he was as funny as his coworkers thought he was.

However, what seems to be an iconic case of coincidence is that both stars auditioned for the same project! The characters auditioned for the role of regional manager and assistant “to” the regional manager.

The Office (U.S.) version is known for having an iconic cast of Steve Carell, John Krasinksi, Ed Helms, and more. Being one of the funniest sitcoms of all time, people are still in love with the series even after a decade.

If any show disproves the idea that all remakes are rubbish, it's The Office. The Steve Carrell-led comedy, which first aired in 2005, was initially met with skepticism. Critics understandably raised concerns about how American optimism would combine with the caustic cynicism of Ricky Gervais' much-loved original, and early reactions suggested that The Office would go the way of other ill-advised trans-Atlantic TV clones. 19 years later, not only has The Office stepped out of the short-lived BBC series' shadow, but that it deserves to be considered on its own terms as one of the all-time great comedy series.

Bradley Cooper is a multi-time Oscar nominee with a deep history in the film industry. After kicking off his career with an episode of Sex and the City in 1999, the early days of Cooper's career consisted mainly of comedies. This trend began for the actor in 2001 when he acted in the star-studded Wet Hot American Summer. From there, the then-rising star would go on to make several other movies in the same genre, including Wedding Crashers, The Rocker, and more.
It was not until the 2010s that Cooper's career really shifted more heavily into drama. In 2013, Cooper was nominated for his first Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role in the Jennifer Lawrence-co-starring film Silver Linings Playbook. He would continue on a hot streak in dramas from that point, being nominated for Oscars in both subsequent years. Now, he is a multi-hyphenate talent known for acting, producing,...
