Kamen Staykov is a filmmaker based in Canada with roots closely tracing back to Bulgaria. After finishing two years in the School of Motion Picture Arts at Capilano University in 2022, Kamen continued to write, direct and produce several short films. Kamen's first short film at seventeen, The Last Audition, screened at multiple festivals including the Oscar qualifying, 19th IN THE PALACE International Short Film Festival and the Bafta qualifying, Carmarthen Bay Film Festival. The film was also featured in Hollywood North Magazine for "Talent on Tap".
Kamen combines grounded character driven stories rooted in his own expressionistic and poetic visual style. His work focuses on themes that he hopes inspire others to follow their dreams, discover themselves and most of all follow their hearts. His aspiration is to direct his first full feature film at twenty three. He is currently building an extensive portfolio as a writer/director in an effort to make that a possibility.
