Francisco (Paco) Arango was born in Mexico City in 1967 and was educated in the United States (Deerfield Academy and Tufts University).
In 1999 he started his own television production company. He created and wrote several shows, one of which Ala Dina! became one of Spain's top-rated shows, and ran for three seasons.
After a few years he started making films that, in addition to entertaining, were supportive to help sick children around the world:
. "Maktub" (2011): his first film nominated to three Goya Awards: best new director, best original soundtrack, and best co-starring star. The movie's proceeds went to the construction of the Maktub Center, the number one pediatric bone marrow transplant wing in Spain.
. "The Healer" (2017): Nº 1 Netflix USA in July 2020 and the first film in the world to donate 100% of its proceeds to children with cancer or in vulnerable situations all over the world. It was launched in more than 15 countries with more than 2.5 million viewers. "The Healer" also won several awards and recognition in 2018: Premio Forqué al Cine y Educación en Valores, Premio González Sinde de la Academia de Cine y Premio de Cine Espiritual.
. "Los Rodríguez y el Más Allá" (2019): a crazy family adventure comedy. As usual in his cinema, part of the proceeds went to help children with cancer.
. "Mi Otro Jon" (2023): it will be released in theaters in October 2023. An emotional comedy that encourages you to celebrate life starring Carmen Maura, one of the most recognized actresses of Spanish cinema who has 4 Goya awards.
Paco combines his passion for storytelling with a deep commitment to helping seriously ill children. His foundation, Aladina (www.aladina.org), provides psychological, emotional, and material assistance to many children and teenagers with cancer, and their families since 2005. "Fundación Aladina uses color and smiles to brighten hospital stays for each and every child, as well as their families. It fills me with joy to affirm that Aladina helps kids fight childhood cancer, so that it is never able to take away a child's smile."
