Adam Sztykiel, the screenwriter of DC movie Black Adam who previously tackled the topic of giving birth with Due Date, will make his directorial debut. Sztykiel was previously set to make his directorial debut for the Warner Brothers/DC project Wonder Twins before that film fell apart after Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav canned the project amid a pullback on streaming films.

Kids centers on lifelong best friends Emma and Phoebe, played by Gillan and Chao, who decide to try to have their first babies at the same time so they can navigate the great unknown of motherhood together. They find, however, that their friendship is deeply tested when only one of them gets pregnant.

Dwayne Johnson starred in 2022’s Black Adam; a Dceu superhero movie based on the DC character of the same name. It was the eleventh movie in the Dceu and reportedly a spin-off to 2019’s Shazam! Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra from a screenplay by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani, Black Adam was one of the highly anticipated movies of 2022.

Upon its release, the movie received negative reviews from the critics and the audience becoming a box office bomb for the studios. However, one significant appearance from a former Dceu cast member had the audience excited about the movie and had them looking forward to its further development before the sequel was canceled. In body-swap comedies, the acting is its own kind of brazen put-on fun. Adult actors get to channel their inner innocent kid; young actors get to channel their “serious” adult. And that’s why, ever since the original “Freaky Friday” (1976) brought this genre into being, it’s been marked by instances of true Hollywood artistry, like Tom Hanks’ classic performance in “Big” (though that wasn’t technically a swap comedy) or the lyrically funny bedlam that Jennifer Garner brought off in “13 Going on 30,” one of the best movies of its year.

But even that was 20 years ago. In the decades since, dozens — hundreds — of Hollywood comedies have wallowed in a baseline joke of American middle-class behavior, repeating it again and again like a sacred trope. Today, the movies teach us, adults already are overgrown children: creatures of impulse and appetite and development arrested by their immersion in pop culture.

At this point, the body switch comedy genre is pretty well worn. Big, Freaky Friday (twice), 17 Again, 13 Going on 30, etc., have pretty much defined and exhausted what can be done with the concept to keep it fresh. The latter 2004 hit actually starred Jennifer Garner, who is now returning to the genre again, this time as producer and star of Netflix’s holiday comedy Family Switch.

This time around, the formula is expanded to have an entire family experience a life-altering cosmic moment and become their opposites. The parents become their kids, the kids become their parents, even the baby becomes the French Bulldog. Guess what? It works, even offering some Lol moments along the way in a movie that isn’t trying to reinvent anything here, just finding a new angle to squeeze some more life out of it.

Family Switch‘s age/identity swapping premise has been done many times before. In fact, Jennifer Garner even references her prior age-swapping comedy 13 Going on 30 in Family Switch‘s trailer. But Netflix is hoping audiences are ready for a new 2023 version of the tried-and-true premise with Garner and Ed Helms in starring roles.

The cast includes Emma Myers, Brady Noon, Bashir Salahuddin, Matthias Schweighöfer, and Xosha Roquemore. Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Paul Scheer, Fortune Feimster, and Rita Moreno also star.

McG directs from a screenplay by Victoria Strouse and Adam Sztykiel, based on Amy Krouse Rosenthal’s Bedtime For Mommy novel. Black Adam will not appear in James Gunn’s first DC chapter of storytelling, Dwayne Johnson has shared.

The actor tweeted a statement about the conversation he had with Gunn, giving an update as to the character’s future within the new and rapidly shifting DC universe.

“James Gunn and I connected, and Black Adam will not be in their first chapter of storytelling,” Johnson wrote. “However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters.”

Johnson’s work to bring “Black Adam” to the big screen began in 2007 when he revealed his commitment to the role alongside “Get Smart” director Peter Segal, who was attached to the project at that point.

“The Office” star Ed Helms will join Jennifer Garner in “Family Leave,” a body-swap comedy set at Netflix.

Joseph McGinty Nichol, known professionally as McG, is directing the film, which is written by Adam Sztykiel and adapted from author Amy Krouse Rosenthal’s heartwarming book “Bedtime For Mommy.”

In the film, Garner and Helms will play Jess and Bill Walker, two parents who are doing their best to keep their family connected as their children grow older, more independent and more distant. When a chance encounter with an astrological reader causes the family to wake up to a full body switch, on the morning of the most important day of each of their lives, the Walkers will attempt to unite to land a promotion, college interview, record deal and soccer tryout. Ed Helms has signed on to co-star with Jennifer Garner in the Netflix comedy “Family Leave,” with McG joining as director and producer.

Major spoilers for Black Adam. Consider yourself warned. After nearly two decades of waiting, Dwayne Johnson’s superhero epic Black Adam has finally arrived. As is customary with comic-book movies, Black Adam contains plenty of references and cameos from the larger DC Universe, but one major cameo has pretty much been common knowledge for some time, which producer Hiram Garcia calls “frustrating.“

The Black Adam cameo we’re referring to is the return of Henry Cavill as Superman, something fans have been begging for. To be fair, Dwayne Johnson hasn’t exactly been great at keeping the cameo a secret on the road to the movie’s release, not so subtly referring to Henry Cavill’s return in many interviews, but Hiram Garcia told /Film that it was frustrating that so many fans had the reveal spoiled for them ahead of time.

Dwayne Johnson‘s long-gestating passion project, Black Adam, is in theaters now, and people are already lining up to weigh in on the latest superhero event for the Dceu. Jaume Collet-Serra directs from a script by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani. Johnson’s channeled all his mana into promoting Black Adam, saying the antihero character would change the “change the hierarcy” of superhero cinema. I’ve seen a handful of critics disagree with Johnson’s statement, but general audiences seem to be responding positively to the film.

Nearly 5,000 years after acquiring the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods and being imprisoned shortly after that, Black Adam returns to unleash his rage on the modern world. However, the Justice Society of America is there to keep him in check and possibly sway his outlook on who deserves punishment.

The hierarchy of power in the DC universe is about to change, or so says The Rock. That's because "Black Adam" is finally hitting theaters after being stuck in development for years (and years). Dwayne Johnson has been attached to the role for a very long time, but through persistence and a lot of shifts behind the scenes at DC Films, this one finally came to fruition, with director Jaume Collet-Serra ("Jungle Cruise") behind the camera. But now for the ever-important question: do moviegoers have to sit through the credits?

Well, dear reader, we are here to answer that question and let you know in spoiler-free fashion whether or not the movie has a post-credits scene, or scenes, of any kind. That way, you can plan those bathroom breaks accordingly. Again, we will not spoil anything here so read on with ease. Let's get into it.

Does Black Adam Have A Post-Credits Scene?...

It’s been a long wait — nearly a decade, in fact — since Dwayne Johnson first signed on to become an integral part of the DC universe. He’s recently turned 50 (not that he looks it). But now, at last, he’s launched a big-league entry in the cinematic superpowers world with Black Adam.

This is a gigantic, 200 million sci-fi extravaganza that likely features a higher percentage of screen time devoted strictly to massive action and effects over dialogue than any of its comics-derived predecessors. Given the quality of the dialogue here, this is all to the good, but it certainly won’t deter the devoted fanboys who have been waiting a long time for this one. The large intended audience will no doubt gobble up this extravagantly boisterous other-worldly space circus, which certainly deserves to be seen on the big screen. There it will play for 45 days before beginning to stream on HBO Max.

Spoiler Alert: The following review contains mild spoilers for “Black Adam.”

It’s kind of a cheat, casting someone as massive as Dwayne Johnson to play a DC superhero — or antihero, in the case of “Black Adam,” an action-packed, adolescent-skewing stand-alone that presents the swole Samoan star as a nearly invincible global threat. Black Adam is basically an A-bomb in human form, whose emergence from a 5,000-year lockdown calls for emergency intervention by the Justice Society of America, or Jsa, which dispatches four glorified benchwarmers to contain the situation: Hawkman, Atom Smasher, Cyclone and Doctor Fate.

Ex-wrestler The Rock is built on an altogether different scale from everyone else in the DC universe (the next-closest hulk would be “Aquaman” star Jason Momoa), suggesting by body type alone that he could beat anyone “from this planet.” Wink wink. Was it an accident or shrewd marketing strategy that leaked an end-credits scene...

Although we’ve been seeing more R-rated comicbook movies in recent years, it’s definitely not the norm for mainstream Marvel or DC fare. Keeping bloodshed and deaths to a minimum fits with the superhero code, but it doesn’t exactly suit a character like Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson). While chatting with Collider, Black Adam producers Beau Flynn and Hiram Garcia said that the film actually landed an R-rating when it went before the MPA.

After years spent in development hell, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam will finally be hitting theaters next month. New Line Cinema has released a new Black Adam poster which finds Black Adam seated upon a throne.

The Black Adam poster proclaims that the time for heroes is over, but I’ll be curious to see just how dark they’ll take the character without making him a straight-up villain. The movie has certainly been a long time coming, and at one point, the character was supposed to appear in the Shazam! movie before Dwayne Johnson decided the two needed their own separate movies.

Dwayne Johnson just made it official on his social media: New Line’s Black Adam is heading to San Diego Comic-Con. There was a question whether Warner Bros’ DC feature side would be at the fanboy confab; now they are.

The Black Adam panel is set for Saturday, July 23 in Hall H. “6,000 Strong,” Johnson wrote Thursday.

DC Comics fans are getting a closer look at Dwayne Johnson’s “Black Adam” in a new, action-packed trailer.

“Black Adam” stars Johnson as the powerful anti-hero and sworn nemesis of Shazam, who was played by Zachary Levi in a 2019 origin movie and in the upcoming sequel, “Shazam: Fury of the Gods,” coming next year. After over a decade in development, “Black Adam” will be released on July 29.

Johnson was originally supposed to enter the DC universe as Black Adam in 2019’s “Shazam;” however, his role was scrapped when the spinoff for his character was greenlit in 2017.
