Writer/director Elizabeth S. Acevedo grew up in New York City and trained as a photographer with National Geographic across the volcanic belts, rainforests and small fishing villages of Uruguay, Ecuador, Argentina and Chile.
When a bike accident left her mute and bedridden with a broken face, Elizabeth translated her experiences into short stories. She went on to study writing at University of Oxford, Johns Hopkins University and University of Iowa. Soon, her love of images and stories coalesced into filmmaking, and Elizabeth received a BFA in Film from NYU Tisch.
Elizabeth is now an Academy Gold mentee of Paramount's Mark Vahradian, under whom she apprenticed on Transformers, and a member of the 2025 Rideback Rise Circle screenwriting accelerator.
Her debut short Mirage screened with Academy Award-Qualifying HollyShorts, at Regal Cinemas, Festival de Cannes SFC and Chelsea Film Festival and released online with Director's Notes and Film Shortage to over 1MM views. Elizabeth has directed Devon Bostick (Oppenheimer), Dylan Gelula (Dream Scenario), Ethan Cutkosky (Shameless), Oscar-nominated Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight) and The Dandy Warhols.
Her works have exhibited at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Carnegie Hall and graced Vogue, Rolling Stone, The Times, SHOWStudio, 1.4 Magazine, LA Fashion Festival, Stella McCartney and Reserved Magazine.
