Tamae Garateguy is one of the best known directors of genre films in South America. Her work is as prolific as it is unique.
She has directed eight solo feature films and three other co-directed films: two comedies and a slasher.
Tamae discovers her penchant for genre cinema with Pompeya, her violent debut, which wins the Best Argentine Film Award at the 2010 Mar del Plata International Film Festival and the Free Spirit Award at the 2011 Warsaw International Film Festival in Poland.
Pompeya is screening at festivals such as the Toronto, Bifan, Rio Film Festival and SXSW.
Her second film, Mujer Lobo, screens at the Mórbido Film Festival, Havana, Fantastic Fest, Fantaspoa, Bifan and Bafici.
in 2018, she is releasing two films: her first documentary, 50 Chuseok, shot in South Korea thanks to the support of the Seoul Film Commission, and Until you untie me, both premiered in different festivals.
Las Furias, a South American Western, was released in 2020 after winning four post-production awards at Guadalajara Construye 2019, and was followed in 2021 by two other films, 10 Pigeons, a crime film, and El Amarre, a horror film shot in Mexico and produced by Lemon Films, both of which were shot in 2019. Help, her eighth film, premiered in Bifan and then in Sitges in 2023.
