SpongeBob SquarePants, a beloved long-running animated show, has received new redesigns in multiple animation styles by artist @richietoons. The different styles, including Disney, The Loud House, and Rocko's Modern Life, offer unique representations of SpongeBob in various contexts. SpongeBob's style has evolved over its 24-year run, becoming more modern and childlike, but the changes have divided fans who miss the classic feel of the show.

Iconic Nickelodeon series “SpongeBob SquarePants” has never been afraid to get weird — see the episode where vampire Nosferatu pranks the Krusty Krab or the time SpongeBob and his friends nearly got killed by a live-action gorilla. Millennials and Gen-Zers, say goodbye to the David Hasselhoff “SpongeBob” cameos of your childhood. According to the “Sponge on the Run” trailer, Keanu Reeves, or rather his floating head, will make an appearance in the upcoming film premiering May 22, 2020.

The latest film in the SpongeBob franchise follows the yellow sponged hero and his friend Patrick as they set off on the road in their search to find SpongeBob’s lost snail Gary.

“Call me Sage. I’m made of sage and I am a sage, so it works out pretty well,” Reeves says to the duo, to which the affable but not-so-smart companion responds by saying, “I’m Patrick, my name means ‘toaster’ in Celtic.”

Opening March 18, 2016, The Little Prince is directed by Academy Award nominee Mark Osborne (Kung Fu Panda) and features the voices of Mackenzie Foy, Jeff Bridge, Riley Osborne, Marion Cotillard, James Franco, Paul Rudd, Benicio del Toro, Paul Giamatti, Ricky Gervais, Albert Brooks, and Bud Cort. Paramount Animation has confirmed its next five films - including SpongeBob Squarepants 3...

Set up in the aftermath of the release of the wonderful Rango, Paramount Animation has been busily working away on a slate of projects for some time now. SpongeBob Squarepants: Sponge Out Of Water has already given the fledgling studio a sizeable hit earlier this year (and it remains the most joyously bonkers film of 2015). But now, we know what its next five films are going to be.

The Little Prince, based on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s book, is first. It's directed by Mark Osborne (Kung Fu Panda), with the likes of Mackenzie Foy, Ricky Gervais, Benicio del Toro, James Franco, Marion Cotillard and Paul Giamatti on voicing duties.

Monsters Trucks, the CG/live action hybrid from Ice Age director Chris Wedge, has been put back again.

Who said Marvel and DC (read: Disney and Warner Bros.) had to have all the fun when it comes to mapping out film slates? In laying out plans for its animation division, Paramount has nailed down release dates for a number of in-development features, including The Little Prince, SpongeBob Squarepants 3, Monster Trucks and Amusement Park.

Launching first will be The Little Prince, which is now pegged for a theatrical release on March 18, 2016. Directed by Kung Fu Panda helmer Mark Osborne, the animated picture is an adaptation of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s classic book, and it’s spent the past few months or so assembling a star-studded line-up. An international voice cast through and through, Osborne’s feature will encompass Mackenzie Foy, Jeff Bridges, Riley Osborne, Marion Cotillard, James Franco, Paul Rudd, Benicio del Toro, Paul Giamatti, Ricky Gervais, Albert Brooks, and Bud Cort.

There's a streak of madness running through The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, elevating it above the usual run-of-the-mill animated fare into something that, at its best, is inspired lunacy. Here's an animation/live-action hybrid that features Antonio Banderas as a pirate-turned-food truck chef, civil war over a burger recipe, the apocalypse, and Matt Berry voicing an intergalactic space dolphin. Suffice to say, this is probably the maddest family film you'll see all year.

All hail another cartoon superstar who shines brightly in the animation galaxy. Well, he’s been shining for more than fifteen years now, actually. But in the realm of ‘toon icons, this lil’ guy is pretty unique. He’s not part of the group that were created during Hollywood’s “golden age” to star in pre-feature film short subjects, this includes Felix the Cat and Mickey Mouse in the 1920’s right through to the 1960s’ with the Pink Panther (of course, a few jumped from the printed page to the big screen like Popeye the Sailor and Casper the Friendly Ghost). Moose, the Simpsons, and the colossal roster of characters from Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera’s company (Huckleberry Hound, Yogi Bear, the Flintstones, and Scooby Doo). Cartoons got weird. I remember when it began happening, and I'd argue one of the major touchstones for modern animation in all forms is John Kricfalusi's "Ren & Stimpy." When that show hadn't gone on the air yet, tapes of it were circulation in the animation community in La, and I remember talking to a great animator named Eddie Fitzgerald about the show. He was positively evangelical. He said that the show was going to change the way animation looked and the sort of animation that would get produced. He had already decided that he was going to quit what he was doing at the time specifically so he could go work for Spumco. He was a true believer, and he wasn't the only animator who sounded that way when talking about that show. In the years since, there's been a rise of not only a new kind of hyper-ugly...

When SpongeBob SquarePants first introduced audiences to the Krabby Patty back in 1999, I was just young enough to enjoy all the burger-flipping, song-busting, jellyfishin’ action for a few years, but as the silly yellow sponge continued to entrance Nickelodeon faithfuls, I found myself turning to more mature programming. While I can still clearly recall SpongeBob and Plankton’s rendition of “F.U.N” for the first time, my strongest show-related memory is the look of bewilderment on my mother’s face every time she asked me why I enjoyed such a ridiculous television program. At the time, I’d shrug and assume she didn’t understand creator Stephen Hillenburg’s unique brand of comedy (juvenile stupidity), but after sitting through The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water years later, I now understand why my mother was so puzzled – because SpongeBob isn’t made for (sober?) older audiences.

Ahead of the film’s February 6th release date, SpongeBob: Sponge Out of Water has received an unexpectedly steamy new poster, which seems to prove that the studios have completely lost track of who they’re marketing this movie to.

Yes, that’s right – the new poster for SpongeBob: Sponge Out of Water takes its cues from another February release: erotic novel adaptation Fifty Shades of Grey. Though the artists got the tone right for this tongue-in-cheek ad, there’s no getting past how uncomfortable it is to see a children’s cartoon transplanted onto a movie that just received a strict 18 rating over in England. “Look everyone, SpongeBob wants to have steamy, Bdsm sex with you!” It declares. Cue the involuntary shivering.

Sixteen-year Disney veteran Lino Disalvo has joined Paramount Animation as creative director.

Disalvo recently served as head of animation on Frozen and started out at the Walt Disney Company as a character animator.

Prior to Frozen he was supervising animator on Tangled and Bold. His credits include animating Meet The Robinsons and Chicken Little.

The announcement came from Adam Goodman, President of the Paramount Film Group, who oversees Animation for the studio.

Disalvo will report to Paramount Film Group president Adam Goodman, who oversees animation of the studio.

“From its inception, we have aspired to work with the industry’s greatest artists and storytellers, and Lino’s addition to our little animation family is thrilling given his incredible talent,” said Goodman.

Paramount Animation is in production on the original feature Monster Trucks, a live-action and CGI animation hybrid directed by Chris Wedge and set for release in May 2015.

Back in 2012, Paramount Pictures announced that it was working on a new theatrical "SpongeBob SquarePants" movie. And now, we have a poster for the film, called "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water." Check it out below. The last "SpongeBob" movie was released in theaters back in 2004. It went on to gross $85.4 million domestically and $54.7 million internationally. In the film, SpongeBob left the town of Bikini Bottom to track down King Neptune's stolen crown. The new film is directed by Paul Tibbitt and feature a voice cast comprised of Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Bill Fagerbakke, Rodger Bumpass and Carolyn Lawrence. The first poster has been released for the highly anticipated second "SpongeBob Squarepants" movie. Boasting the new title of "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water," the film is targeting a February 6th 2015 release. Antonio Banderas, Tom Kenny and Clancy Brown lend their voices this time around.

This cinematic take on the immensely popular Nickelodeon series will be CG animated and will be helmed by the show's creator Paul Tibbitt. The first film's helmer Stephen Hillenburg is also back as writer and executive producer.

I have never watched anything having to do with SpongeBob Squarepants and I don't intend to check out the character's newest movie, now titled The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, but this first poster makes it look creepily realistic. Set for release on February 6, 2015, the film will be directed by Paul Tibbitt and feature the voices of Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Bill Fagerbakke, Rodger Bumpass and Carolyn Lawrence. More than a year after Paramount moved forward with their own animation division — more than a year after we received a real update pertaining directly to them, even — things are really happening. We haven’t been informed on everything that’s taking place, mind you, but just trust that they are getting things out there.

This acceleration is reported by Variety, who claim that Paramount are making deals and working ideas with the likes of Nickelodeon, J.J. Abrams, and Mary Parent. The kid’s entertainment titan — definitely a staple of my childhood, not that you actually need to know — have been doing behind-the-scenes work on The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie 2; Paul Tibbitt is expected to direct, with Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger (Kung Fu Panda, Monsters vs. Aliens) writing the screenplay. Per their prior announcement, we should expect that to hit toward the end of 2014.

Jennifer Yuh Nelson's "Kung Fu Panda 2" dominated the Annie Awards nominations, but the International Animated Film Society decided to give its highest honor -- the Best Animated Feature award -- to Gore Verbinski's "Rango." Both films are from DreamWorks Animation and they still have to duke it out at the upcoming Oscars in the Best Animated Feature Film category.

Besides the Best Animated trophy, "Rango" also collected awards for Best Editing and Writing. But Nelson, the first woman to direct a feature film animation from a major Hollywood production company, won the Directing in a Feature Production award! Yay! I'm a huge fan of animation, animated films are getting better and better. Not only is the look and animation getting ridiculously awesome, but I find that many of these animated films actually have incredibly good stories. Not all of them are good though, for example, Cars 2 and Rio sucked. It will be interesting to see who ends up taking home the awards this year. Out of the movies on the list that I've seen and liked we have Puss in Boots, Rango and Kung Fu Panda 2. I guess it's no surprises that Kung Fu Panda 2 is leading the nominations with 9. "Kung Fu Panda 2" dominated the nominations for the 39th Annual Annie Awards. Given by the International Animated Film Society, the DreamWorks Animation sequel received 12 nods including Best Animated Feature. "Puss in Boots" and "Rango" each took nine noms. Pixar's "Cars 2" received seven nominations, while Disney's "Winnie the Pooh" took eight nods but was oddly missing in the Best Animated Feature category.

Winners of the 2011 Annie Awards will be announced on Saturday, Feb. 4.

It seems like San Diego Comic-Con 2011 is right around the corner, and it's going to be one hell of a glorious weekend of geek awesomeness. 'SpongeBob SquarePants' will hit the 200th episode milestone thanks to a ninth season pickup by Nickelodeon.

According to Deadline Hollywood, 'SpongeBob' has been renewed for a 26-episode season 9 that will begin in 2012. The series has been Nickelodeon's top series among children ages 2-11 for 10 years.

"We never imagined we would be on for that long but we're going to keep going," executive producer Paul Tibbitt said. "The trick is to try to keep the episodes funny and simple and press from there."

The 'SpongeBob' special, 'Mystery with a Twistery,' brought in 6.6 million viewers in November. The next special, 'Legends of Bikini Bottom,' premieres Jan. 28.

Exclusive: Nickelodeon has picked up its flagship animated series SpongeBob SquarePants for a ninth season with a 26-episode order, which will push the veteran series over the 200th episode mark. Season 9 is slated to air in 2012. SpongeBob has been TV’s No.1 animated series with kids 2-11 for 10 consecutive years. It also ranks as basic cable’s top animated show in total viewers and as MTV Networks' most widely distributed property ever with sales in 171 territories. "SpongeBob's success in reaching over 200 episodes is a testament to creator Stephen Hillenburg's vision, comedic sensibility and his dynamic, lovable characters," said Brown Johnson, President, Animation, Nickelodeon and Mtvn Kids and Family Group. SpongeBob creator Hillenburg executive produces the series alongside Paul Tibbitt who has been on the show since after the pilot, serving as a director and writer on for its first three seasons and eventually taking over day-to-day responsibilities from Hillenburg.
