Katherine J. Espin is an Argentine-born, American-raised actress and filmmaker from Spanish, Italian, Jewish and Indigenous Huarpe descent.
She began her journey as an actress/filmmaker at LSC-Kingwood in Texas, where she realized she had a talent for acting, and a thirst for learning how to make movies. After college, she was accepted at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Hollywood where she trained as a professional actor, and graduated at the height of the pandemic in 2020. During her time at the Academy, she would surround herself with other actors who had a love for filmmaking as well. She worked with Momus Media on short films such as 'Heated' (2019), and 'Beyond Malak' (2020). She also worked with director Rayna Campbell in 'The Spell that Backfired' (2022), and with producers Charlotte Hendrickx and Joaquina Gentil in 'Ten Why's' (2023) and previously in 'Pure Modern Love' (2022).
As for her acting career, after the pandemic hit and film productions resumed, she began to book many projects. She's been in short films such as 'In Sickness and In Health' (2021), 'Silence is Violence' (2021), 'Cielito Lindo' (2022), 'The Red Orchid' (2022), 'Last Call' (2022), and 'La Siguanaba' (2023). She was recently a main character in an indie feature film, 'Living Life on the Edge' (2023), which will air on PBS and stream on Amazon Prime. During quarantine she was also an entertainment online science/math instructor for kids through Blue Studios. She recently played the role of 'Amelia' in a comedy series, 'Yamvard University' scheduled to be released in 2023.
Katherine's first short film, 'Pure Modern Love' (2022) was well received at many short film festivals. She was awarded with 'Best Women Filmmaker' at the Hollywood Blvd Film Festival (2021), 'Best Director - Short Film' at the New York Film Awards (2021), 'Best First Time Director' and 'Best Editing' at the Hollywood Gold Awards (2021). The film itself also won for 'Best U.S. Short' at the Imagine Rain Independent Film Awards (2021), Love International Film Festival (2021), and at the Hollywood Gold Awards (2021). She is now an award winning director, filmmaker and editor who is excited to continue making more projects. She is also eager to see where her life as an actress will take her as well.
