Daniel C. Johnson
- Actor
Daniel C. "Dan" Johnson has a unique voice, because he has a unique story. Dan is best known for his musical work as a full-time, touring singer-songwriter, with highly acclaimed albums such as "Hemingway," a concept piece that was featured on NPR's "All Things Considered," Cowboys and Indians Magazine, Galleywinter, Texas Music Pickers, Twangville, Folking, The Dallas Morning News, and news outlets around the US and Europe.
Johnson has also seen a rapid rise in notoriety for his work as an author, narrator, public speaker, and voice actor, as the voice of numerous documentaries, video games, and several audiobooks. In addition, Dan is the face and voice of "Operation Hemingway," an internationally touring music and inspirational speaking program, for the prevention of veteran suicide.
Dan's style comes from his upbringing on a homestead farm in Kentucky, where his family played music and told stories for entertainment each night, in the old Appalachian tradition. His great aunt is Jean Ritchie, considered "The Mother of Folk," who along with Doc Watson, recorded the first Appalachian Folk Music with standards such as "Shady Grove," "Pretty Polly," and "The Wabash Cannonball" for the Smithsonian Institute in the 1940's. Dan's father was a veteran who suffered mental and physical damage and eventually died from suicide, the day before Dan's eleventh birthday. Dan raised his daughters as a single father, giving up his music career at a young age to care for them until they were old enough for Johnson to return to his dream of creating beautiful music for the world. Dan has used his broad array of life experiences to pour passion and dedication into both his music and his speaking work.
When he's not on tour, Johnson can be found at his home in Fort Worth, Texas, with his lovely wife Lauren, an exceptional painter and sommelier, his three blessed and amazing daughters, and his wonderful bonus son.
