Mary Wisdom Harris
- Actress
Mary "Wisdom" Harris was born in North Carolina and raised in the Panhandle of Florida near Destin in a little town called Fort Walton Beach. Wisdom has enjoyed performing since her first performance in a church performance at the age of 10.
While shopping at the local mall with her family, she was scouted by a talent scouting convention and went to Los Angeles to audition for multiple agents and managers. She received many callbacks but was unable to relocate so she stuck with what was available. She discovered that performing arts was her favorite thing in the world!
Wisdom then went on to musical theatre in middle and high school. Performing in her high school musical, "Hairspray", she played U/S Motormouth Maybelle and was also part of the ensemble! Her favorite highlight was when her monologue performance from "Ruined" by Lynn Nottage was considered for Critic's choice at District competition! Wisdom continued her educational theatrical studies up until receiving her Bachelors in theatre from The University of West Florida.
Living in Pensacola, Florida; Wisdom auditioned for whatever professional theatre she could get her hands on. She was happy and excited to book three of those! The first being a witch in Macbeth which she was delighted to play, her favorite part was the craziness of the costumes and hair. Then she booked Lysistrata, which production ended up using an all female cast of 6 women for. Can you imagine the fun and creativity on that one?! Lastly while living there, she booked a historical fiction play, "Into the Breeches" which Wisdom adored playing Ida Green (an African American woman getting her first shot to perform in a theatre during WWII).
Then the Covid pandemic hit, but Wisdom didn't let that stop her! She decided to move to Atlanta, Georgia in the middle of it all and get her hands dirty with the film industry. She booked her first lead in a short film called Elena which she plays Elena. Elena is a film that brings awareness to human and sex trafficking. A project that Wisdom is so proud to be offered to be a major part of. Elena premieres in Spring 2023. Wisdom still lives in Atlanta, Georgia.
