Takshashil Sontakke is a filmmaker and director from Maharashtra known for his unique storytelling style and significant contributions to Marathi cinema. Born in Sangli and now residing in Mumbai, Takshashil Sontakke was born into a creative household-his father was a photographer, and his mother a dancer. As a child, he received acting lessons from his mother, which fueled his passion for the arts. Throughout his school and college years, Takshashil excelled in acting and dancing, gaining early recognition for his talents.
He made a name for himself in his city by becoming a finalist in the show Sony Max Presents "Deewan Ki Khoj" (2016) in India. This achievement led to a scholarship, enabling him to pursue a Diploma in Acting at Actor Prepares, under the guidance of Anupam Kher. Following this, Takshashil shifted his focus to theater plays and direction, honing his skills for many years before transitioning into filmmaking.
he made his directorial debut at the age of 25 with "Parvatinagar" (2020), a suspense thriller, produced under his own banner.
Following this, he created the web series "Jackpot" (2022), focused on village gambling. He also served as Associate Director for the Marathi cult classic film "Tendlya" (2023). In 2017, he founded the Sangli National Short Film Festival, with International brand Sony India as the presenter, to foster new filmmaking talent.
Currently, He is also in the pre-production phase of two projects, "Ravan" and "Kirti Vijay". And Associate Director on Kimidin (2024), directed by Nilesh Navalakha, who known for his films like Shala and Fandry.
