Cole Escola Joins Melissa McCarthy in Warner Bros. Animated Christmas Musical ‘Margie Claus’ | Video
Melissa McCarthy snuck in a little Christmas in July celebration with a video teasing her upcoming film “Margie Claus” and announcing Cole Escola joined the film.
In a video shared on social media, McCarthy appeared in a red Christmas dress decorated with balloons and ornaments, and a giant bow atop her head. She teased her upcoming film.
“Happy Christmas in July,” she said. “I am so excited to be playing Margie Claus in the upcoming animated Christmas musical feature ‘Margie Claus.'”
She did not just appear to celebrate the holiday halfway point though. She also took the time to announce who had been cast as Levi – the head elf – in the film. The new character will be voiced by Cole Escola – who came into the video wearing the same Christmas outfit that McCarthy had on only in green.

Suppose you’ve ever questioned how Melissa McCarthy keeps husband Ben Falcone employed as a director despite the cinematic evidence. In that case, you have to marvel at how Hollywood has let Tyler Perry’s next notch in his filmography, Madea’s Destination Wedding, become a cultural touchstone and one of the most inexplicably profitable franchises in movie history.
The popularity of the Madea franchise cannot be explained, much like Adam Sandler’s comedy career of the 1990s. Now, with streaming and Perry’s stranglehold on the industry (as recent news reports threaten to tear down his entertainment empire), Perry is back with another chapter that is heavy on product placement, light on laughs, and short on the audience’s patience.

Throughout Hollywood, there are many couples working together.
Whether they met on set, a la Zendaya and Tom Holland, or decided to work together after they got together, there are plenty of real-life couples who share the big and small screen, and most fans eat it up.
Who has more chemistry than a couple who are madly in love when the cameras stop rolling?
(Lifetime/Screenshot)
Despite the crazy chemistry, not all fans are interested in seeing couples act together, especially if it happens frequently.
So, what camp do you fall in?

Hollywood stars often miss out on roles that could’ve changed their careers, for better or worse. In the case of Jon Hamm and Sandra Bullock, it’s safe to say they probably don’t regret missing out on one particular part in the critically panned 2016 comedy The Boss.
Starring Melissa McCarthy, the film follows Michelle Darnell, a disgraced business tycoon, and her attempts to re-establish herself after being arrested for insider trading. While the film quite likely failed to win over critics, evident in its 22% critic score, it certainly did raise eyebrows with its eccentric casting choices.
Peter Dinklage landed the villain role in The Boss over Sandra Bullock and Jon Hamm
One of the many surprising behind-the-scenes stories surrounding Melissa McCarthy’s 2016 comedy, The Boss, that made rounds ahead of its release was related to multiple high-profile names who were considered for the role of the film’s antagonist.

Paul Feig was under a lot of pressure before the release of “Bridesmaids” in 2011 — and it was more than just his own career on the line.
Speaking on a panel at SXSW the night after the premiere of his new film “Another Simple Favor,” he shared that in the lead-up to the release of “Bridesmaids,” he was told his success or failure could have a significant impact on how women’s ideas would be treated in the industry moving forward. Though Feig was the director, the film was otherwise led by women: Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo wrote the screenplay and appeared in it alongside Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ellie Kemper and Melissa McCarthy.
“So many female writer friends of mine were going out and pitching female-led comedies, and they all heard from the studios: ‘We have to wait and see how ‘Bridesmaids’ does,'” Feig said. “I was like,...

Melissa McCarthy is known to frequently collaborate with her husband Ben Falcone, but their daughter Vivian Falcone is also featured in two of their movies, Thunder Force and The Boss. McCarthy and Falcone married in 2005, long before McCarthy found fame as one of Hollywood's most acclaimed comedic actors. However, Falcone appeared in a number of her movies, including McCarthy's Oscar-nominated breakout role in Bridesmaids. However, aside from acting together on occasion, Falcone has directed McCarthy in several movies, turning some into family affairs.
To date, McCarthy and Falcone have made five movies together, with McCarthy as the star and Falcone as the director. While none of the movies have been critical successes for the duo, they clearly enjoy working together and have invited their daughter Vivian Falcone to appear in some of their projects. In both Thunder Force and The Boss, Vivian Falcone plays a much younger version of Melissa McCarthy's respective character.

No matter what mood, situation, or place you’re in, comedy movies can never be a bad idea, because everyone likes to have a good laugh. But sadly, people often confuse comedy films with loudmouthed slapstick humor that is known to dominate the screen. And perhaps this is why the genre of comedy is gradually fading away into oblivion.
With more people looking for drama and action films, comedy is getting sidelined in the world of entertainment. So before the classic sense of humor wanes completely, let’s take a look at 15 underrated comedies including—endearing rom-com, wry dramedy, action-comedy, and more—that’s worth every bit of your attention.

Things are back to their normal pace for Live with Kelly and Mark after the sadness last month when Art Moore left the show to retire.
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos often discuss their lives during their morning host chat before they go to Mark’s favorite part of the show, Stump Mark.
Mark is admittedly competitive and hates to lose anything, even if it means giving a contestant a free mug or T-shirt. The show sends the winner of Stump Mark a free mug or T-shirt.
Each day, the Live crew calls a constant who has sent in a postcard with two statements about their life, one truth and one lie.
Mark has a minute to ferret out the correct answer, or the contestant gets to Stump Mark and walks away with a mug and a t-shirt for their trouble before they answer a trivia question trying to win a trip.

Melissa McCarthy started her career doing improvisational comedy at The Groundlings Theater in Los Angeles, which is also where she met her husband Ben Falcone. She then went on to a successful run on the TV series “Gilmore Girls” for seven seasons. She followed that up with other TV shows and small movie roles but it would be a return to The Groundlings crew that would launch her into super-stardom. Her former castmates Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo wrote a female gross-out comedy called “Bridesmaids” and cast McCarthy along with other Groundlings veterans Maya Rudolph and Wendi McLendon-Covey. The film would become a surprise hit in the genre which was usually dominated by men and even earn McCarthy an Oscar nomination as Best Supporting Actress.

The high-profile movie will fly into cinemas on June 26, 2026, DC and Warner Bros. announced Tuesday. The feature film, from a script by Ana Nogueira, is inspired by the Tom King and Bilquis Evely comic, and will depart from the earnest take on the character seen on the CW Supergirl series.

SAG-AFTRA may still be on strike, but studios are, nevertheless, pushing their Oscar contenders to garner the adequate (and allowed) attention they need to land nominations.
One of the main methods is getting industry voters out to screenings and making films available on the Academy Screening Room and BAFTA screening platforms. With the two significant organizations banning physical DVD screeners, voting members rely on the respective digital viewing portals to catch up on some of this year’s contenders vying for awards consideration.
Read: Variety’s Awards Circuit for the latest Oscars predictions in all categories.
The Academy performs a heavy vetting process for each film that chooses to submit for consideration. Historically, over 300 movies are in the running for best picture consideration, with more films joining the fray over the next several months.
