Having premiered at last years Frightfest, Dementamania is set for release next month. The film, directed by Kit Ryan and written by Anis Shlewet, follows a frustrated office worker who finds himself caught between the realms of his deranged imagination and the mundane reality of his everyday existence.

Although a successful analyst with a leading It consultancy, years of routine have taken their toll, and the unbearable daily monotony fuels his frustration and bitterness. When Edward is stung by a mysterious bug, it results in a painful and aggressive rash which unlocks the door to a secret world inside his head causing nightmarish fantasies to manifest themselves within vivid hallucinations. The film has since moved from development, into production and recently, the film had its World Premiere at Film4 Frightfest. Now, a teaser trailer is available for the film. The story for Dementamania revolves around the character Edward Arkham (Sam Robertson). He works in a stale office job, which threatens to put him over the edge. The Dyatlov Pass Incident
Written by Vikram Weet
Directed by Renny Harlin
USA, 2013
The contest between scepticism and belief in the supernatural is a reliable means of drawing out a narrative before any sort of big reveal. It’s a dynamic through which the television classic The X-Files operated, featuring the passionate Fox Mulder, who worked to convince cohort Dana Scully of “the truth.” Around this back-and-forth between two audience surrogates situates the dubious involvement of man: how much do the higher-ups truly know about what is going on, and what are they keeping from us?
Renny Harlin’s The Dyatlov Pass Incident borrows a few of these tricks. Its fictional found-footage accompanies a group of five American hikers into the Ural Mountains as they retrace the steps of nine souls who died in mysterious, real-life circumstances some 50 years ago. Hypothermia, avalanches, and other possible causes of death have since been ruled out,...

This bank holiday weekend, Empire Leicester Square is once again haunted by the annual Film4 Frightfest. Five days, three screens and a few dozen premieres, debuts, sequels and rereleases – there should be plenty to keep horror aficionados safe from the holiday sunshine.
It all kicks off with Thursday night’s premiere of The Dead 2: India, Howard & Jon Ford’s follow-up to the critically acclaimed original which screened at Frightfest 2010. As the title suggests, the zombie outbreak has bestowed itself upon India, so expect to see hero Nicholas Burton trek across some striking landscapes, albeit tailed by a zombie horde.
There are many more sequels on offer, including the return of one infamous killer doll in Curse of Chucky; V/H/S 2, a follow-up to last year’s most popular horror portmanteau; and I Spit on Your Grave 2, the sequel to a remake that left a bad taste in many a mouth.

Director Kit Ryan's feature debut, Botched , was a bloody tale thick with dark comedy and featured actors Stephen Dorff, Sean Pertwee and Jamie Murray. It took home the Best Feature prize at the New York City Horror Film Festival in 2007 and was subsequently released direct-to-dvd here in the States a few years back, so what has Ryan been up to since then? Apparently he's in development on Dementamania and we've got the story details: When a software engineer gets stung by a mysterious bug, it unlocks the door to a secret world inside his head, causing nightmarish fantasies and vivid hallucinations. While the title isn’t the most original in the world, Dementamania still has a nice ring to it. The boys over at Quiet Earth discovered a bit of info on the film the other day, and it sounds too weird to pass up.
Dementamania is about a successful software engineer who’s bitten by a mysterious bug one morning in his apartment. By the end of the day he’s stuck in a world of violent hallucinations that, if the illustration on the right (done by comic book artist John Higgins) is any indication, don’t fare well for his fellow office workers.
Written by newcomer Anis Shlewet, Ronin Pictures have brought in Botched (DVD review) director Kit Ryan to direct Dementamania, with shooting set to commence in February. Hopefully we’ll hear more soon so keep your eyeballs open!

We just found out about an insane looking new scifi horror film that's set to start lensing in February '09 called Dementamania. A kafka-esque story of violence and listening to the dark hallucinations of our unconscious mind, Dementamania was written by newcomer Anis Shlewet and will be directed by Kit Ryan of Botched fame. Here's a brief synopsis:
A successful young software engineer is bitten by a weird-looking bug in his apartment at breakfast one morning and by the end of day is trapped in a mad world of violent hallucinations.
Bitten by a weird bug? Sounds deliciously trippy no? It also sounds vaguely Gilliamesque but I doubt it'll end up going that direction. This one's definitely staying high on the Qe radar.
