10 Most Important Harry Potter Characters (Who Aren't in the Movies)
Image
The Harry Potter movies are best known for following its Golden Trio of heroes. Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), Emma Watson (Hermione), and Rupert Grint (Ron) all managed to embody their characters with apparent ease. For a decade, they brought those heroes to life, making the Wizarding World into an almost tangible place.

While the Golden Trio was brought to the big screen, many other important characters were not. The movies may have adapted Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton) and Severus Snape (Alan Rickman), but other supporting characters failed to earn a proper place in the movies.

Ice Cube's Filming Accident In The $154M Buddy Cop Movie Convinced Kevin Hart To Stop Doing Stunts
Image
Buddy cop movies are a staple of the action-comedy genre, pairing mismatched partners who must overcome their differences to chase down criminals. Director Richard Donner's Lethal Weapon series is well-known for popularizing the buddy-cop genre, as Mel Gibson's reckless cop and Danny Glover's by-the-book officer made for plenty of mishaps and over-the-top action sequences. The 1980s/90s franchise went on to inspire a new wave of buddy cop films, including Rush Hour, Bad Boys, and Shanghai Noon.

More recently, the genre has evolved with hits like 21 Jump Street, The Other Guys, The Heat, and The Nice Guys. Among the modern entries in the genre, Ride Along carved out its own space thanks to the comedic energy of Kevin Hart, which paired hilariously with Ice Cube's stoic intensity. With a $154 million global box office haul, Ride Along became a surprise hit, setting the stage for its 2016 sequel.

Marvel’s Kevin Feige Imagines a Comic Book Lover’s Dream Bonus Feature for Disney+
Image
It was a meeting of Marvel titans at San Diego Comic-Con, where Marvel editor-in-chief C. B. Cebulski welcomed Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige for a conversation about collecting and the ways comic books inspire films (and vice versa).

Cebulski spent part of the panel showing off famous comic book art, and pared them with the scenes they inspired in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Among them was the iconic cover to 2007’s Civil War No. 7, which showed Captain America blocking Iron Man’s beam with his shield, and the cover to the 1939 classic Captain America No. 1, in which Cap punches Adolph Hitler in the face. Both moments inspired moments in Captain America: Civil War and Captain America: The First Avenger.

Feige remarked that it’d be cool if Disney+ had a feature that would allow one to scroll through a movie, and then see the comic book art that inspired the shot.

10 Minor Harry Potter Characters The TV Remake Can Finally Explore In More Depth
Image
Enjoying the Harry Potter TV show will mean finally understanding why minor characters like Bill Weasley and Oliver Wood are so important. The Harry Potter series' cultural impact is undeniable, but the TV show has a chance to fill in the gaps left by the original films. Characters like Peeves and Madam Poppy Pomfrey had significant roles in the books, and the TV show should give them the recognition they deserve.

The upcoming Harry Potter TV show has the opportunity to include some brilliant minor characters that the original films failed to focus on. HBO's Harry Potter TV show will once again tell the story of Hogwarts' Golden Trio Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger, who were played by Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson in the original movies. The Harry Potter books were groundbreaking upon their release and created an incredible cultural impact worldwide, with audiences falling...

Who Is James Payton? review – jobbing Harry Potter actor gets moment in the spotlight
Steve Carell, Jenna Fischer, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, and B.J. Novak in The Office (2005)
Film about actor who played the father of Neville Longbottom feels like The Office meets Withnail, though doesn’t really dig deeply into its subject

Who is James Payton? The simple answer is that James Payton is a jobbing actor. You’ve probably seen him in something. His two claims to some kind of fame are blink-and-you’ll-miss-em parts in a couple of franchises: Neville Longbottom’s dad in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and Hitler in the first Captain America movie. Payton’s other credits include “geography lecturer” in The Crown and “wasted guy” in a terrible Jonathan Pryce thriller from 2005. The two franchises, however, have opened the door to a nice little side hustle: regional fan conventions where Payton sells signed photos of himself for £10.

The film follows him around the “cons”, where franchise fans queue to get a selfie with Harry Potter’s mate’s dad.

Ride Along 3: Director's Ideas, Release Date & Everything We Know
Image
Ride Along 3 still in the works, with Ice Cube and director Tim Story passionate about the idea, but struggling to find the right concept and timing. Kevin Hart's increased popularity and busy schedule has made coordinating the film's production difficult, delaying the progress of Ride Along 3. No official confirmation or release date for Ride Along 3 yet, with the script still being worked on and the cast lineup uncertain, but the possibility of a new adventure in a foreign country has been considered.

The first two Ride Along movies are two of the better buddy-cop crime capers of the 2010s, but Ride Along 3 news is few and far between. 2014's Ride Along was a breakthrough movie for comedian Kevin Hart, who plays Ben Barber, a man attempting to bond with his future brother-in-law and police officer, James Payton (Ice Cube), by going on a ride along...

Friday Cast & Character Guide
Image
The Friday cast includes a hip-hop veteran and a comedy stalwart at the forefront along with many more talented character actors. The first entry in the Friday franchise, the 1995 buddy comedy deals with a day in the life of South Central L.A. locals Craig Jones and Smokey as they struggle to come up with the $200 that they owe a drug supplier. Marking the feature directorial debut of F. Gary Gray, Friday has been immortalized in a plethora of Internet memes and pop-culture references. Its quotable dialogues stem from rapper Ice Cube and record producer DJ Pooh’s screenplay, which is largely based on their personal experiences.

One of the interesting behind-the-scenes facts about the making of Friday is that Cube and Pooh sought to reinterpret the “hood” as a place of fun instead of just being violent and menacing. This balance of slacker comedy and socio-political commentary is brought...

Are We There Yet?: Where The Movie's Cast Is Now
Image
The Are We There Yet? cast is full of great actors who have gone on to have prolific careers in the years since. Are We There Yet? revolves around Nick, a carefree bachelor who, in a bid to impress his new girlfriend Suzanne, offers to take her kids, Lindsey and Kevin, on a road trip, leading to one of the most nightmarish experiences of his life. From major roles like the kids to smaller roles like Al Buck the truck driver, who mistakes Nick for a kidnapper, the Are We There Yet? cast is full of hilarious roles that the film’s talented actors knocked out of the park.

When it was released way back in 2005, Are We There Yet? was a big enough hit with audiences to launch a franchise that includes a home renovation sequel, Are We Done Yet?, and a spin-off TV series with Terry Crews in the lead role.

Disney’s New Oliver Twist Movie Casts Ice Cube As Fagin
Oliver Twist, the time-honored saga from Charles Dickens, is bound for the big screen once more with a, ahem, twist.

This time, Disney is fanning the flames of a live-action version, and has now enlisted both Ice Cube and Thomas Kail, the Tony-winning director of Broadway hit Hamilton, for this new interpretation. As you’ve likely already gathered from the addition of Kail, the Mouse House is angling this particular version of Oliver Twist as a modern musical, one in which Cube will play the infamous part of Fagin, the ringleader of a London gang who introduces our titular orphan to the seedy world of pickpocketing and theft. Hardship, murders and secrets ensue.

By casting the N.W.A rapper-turned-actor, who most recently produced the rather excellent Straight Outta Compton, The Hollywood Reporter notes that Disney is aiming to broaden the scope of the traditional Dickens story, incorporating new music genres including hip-hop and more.

Ride Along 2 Review
Are you a fan of Kevin Hart? Does Ice Cube’s cold stare get you all hot and bothered? Do you enjoy shootouts kissed by Miami’s neon glow, while latin dance music plays soundtrack to the chaos? If so, then congratulations – you’re the target demographic for Tim Story’s buddy cop sequel, Ride Along 2!

Story’s second ride is another obvious police comedy that admittedly works better than the original does, but it’s still the same partners-with-attitude tomfoolery we’ve seen before, except this time in Florida – and Olivia Munn co-stars. Otherwise, it’s more Black Hammer references, disapproving glares from Cube, and another heaping helping of Hart’s mile-a-minute intensity, which is hopefully all you’re looking for.

Ice Cube and Kevin Hart are back as the “Brothers In Law,” James Payton and Ben Barber. We catch up with the duo as Ben is planning his wedding to James’ sister,...

Ice Cube and Kevin Hart in Ride Along 2 (2016)
'Ride Along 2': Film Review
Ice Cube and Kevin Hart in Ride Along 2 (2016)
Not daring to mess with the formula that resulted in its predecessor hitting a worldwide gross of over $150 million, Ride Along 2 reunites Ice Cube and Kevin Hart as the mismatched cop duo who somehow manage to solve cases while constantly bickering. Showcasing Cube's trademark scowl and Hart's all-around goofiness to crowd-pleasing, if not exactly scintillating, comic effect, this sequel, arriving two years to the month after the original, should enjoy equally robust box-office returns. The plot of this effort is essentially the same as before. Veteran Atlanta detective James Payton (Cube), whose coolness is signified

Ken Jeong Joins Ice Cube And Kevin Hart In Ride Along 2
Though this year’s breakout comedy hit Ride Along was almost entirely the Ice Cube and Kevin Hart show, Universal’s upcoming sequel, Ride Along 2, has been putting together a pretty terrific supporting cast over the past few weeks. First, we heard that 24: Live Another Day actor Benjamin Bratt had come aboard in an unspecified role. Next, Attack of the Show! host and geek goddess Olivia Munn joined the cast, taking on the role of a tough Miami homicide detective who becomes the object of Detective James Payton’s (Cube) affection. Now, we’ve learned that The Hangover and Community star Ken Jeong has hitched a ride on the comedy sequel.

Jeong will play “a cocky computer hacker who fancies himself a ladies man but is also important in solving the case that Cube and Hart are working on.” The part is described as similar to Joe Pesci...

Olivia Munn Joins Ride Along 2
Geek goddess Olivia Munn has a major supporting role in Scott Derrickson’s upcoming horror vehicle Deliver Us From Evil, but today brings news that the actress, who stars on HBO’s The Newsroom, will be brandishing her formidable comedic chops for her next big role. Universal has recruited Munn to join Kevin Hart and Ice Cube in 2016′s comedy sequel Ride Along 2.

Munn is said to be playing a tough Miami homicide detective who is a love interest for Cube’s hard-boiled Detective James Payton. It’s exciting to see the talented actress come aboard – hopefully (?) she’ll have more to do than walk around in various states of undress, which was the extent of actress Tika Sumpter’s role in the first film. Plot details for the sequel, which finds Tim Story returning to direct, are hazy, but Variety reports that Ride Along 2 will find James...

Win Blu-ray and goody bag from Ride Along
To mark the release of Ride along on 30th June, we’ve been given 3 copies to give away on Blu-ray, along with 3 goody bags.

Ride Along is the uproarious laugh out loud action comedy about a fast talking security guard, Ben, (Kevin Hart) who joins his cop brother-in-law, James, (Ice Cube) on a 24-hour patrol of Atlanta in order to prove himself worthy of marrying Angela, James’ sister.

Ben sees himself as a crime fighting police man and isn’t going to let anyone stop him from achieving his dreams in love and career. What could possibly go wrong?

Directed by Black Reel Award nominee Tim Story (Think Like A Man, Hurricane Season, Fantastic 4);Ride Along stars comedy gold and Black Entertainment Television (Bet) Award winner Kevin Hart (About Last Night Grudge Match, This Is The End), as Ben Barber the larger than life underdog; Bet Comedy Award nominee Ice Cube (21 Jump Street,...

Ride Along Blu-Ray Review
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That’s clearly the mentality that the writers of Ride Along brought to the table. And I can’t blame them, given the tremendous success that buddy comedies have found in Hollywood, particularly in recent years with action-heavy team-up comedies like 21 Jump Street and 2 Guns. Luckily, there’s more to Ride Along than just a rehash of those hits.

The main draw for most will be watching Ice Cube and Kevin Hart, two talented actors with supremely different personalities, share the screen. Cube, physically imposing and still radiating the same fierce anger that made his rapping work so iconic, fits perfectly into the role of Alabama Pd Detective James Payton, a tough-as-nails cop who relishes the chance to break protocol and kick in some heads.

Similarly, Hart, famed for his manic energy and underdog rep, is well-suited for the part of Ben Barber,...

Ride Along Review
Though we’re well underway into this year’s awards season, and the big Oscar contenders are showing worldwide, that didn’t stop Tim Story’s buddy cop comedy Ride Along spending three consecutive weeks at the top of the American box office. Though certainly a flawed piece, you can certainly see why this production has proved to be such a popular hit, with an unrelenting, scattergun approach to jokes. With it’s tongue firmly in its cheek, it certainly makes for an entertaining trip to the cinema.

When the calamitous, aspiring police man Ben Barber (Kevin Hart) decides he wants to propose to his long-term girlfriend Angela (Tika Sumpter), he knows that he has to be given her older brother’ James Payton’s (Ice Cube) blessing first. The problem is, the bullish, imposing cop James, has very little time for his sister’s partner. Allowing him the chance to...

Ice Cube and Kevin Hart in Ride Along (2014)
'Ride Along': What the Critics Are Saying
Ice Cube and Kevin Hart in Ride Along (2014)
Ride Along challenges Kevin Hart, who plays a security guard newly accepted for police academy training, to impress Ice Cube's James Payton, a hardcore undercover Atlanta police officer who wants to stop his sister from marrying Hart's Ben Barber. Also starring Tika Sumpter, John Leguizamo and Bryan Callen and directed by Tim Story, the attempted comic riff on Training Day has a sequel in the works. Ride Along opened to a solid $1.1 million Thursday night, and is predicted by observers to outperform the actual action film opening this holiday weekend: Kenneth Branaugh's Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, starring Chris

A 'Prometheus' Synopsis Could Spoil Everything
2012 is going to be a big year at the movies. One of the most enticing possibilities is Ridley Scott's "Prometheus" which has, for the most part, kept rather quiet on all things spoilery. Other than a few stills, some cryptic interviews from Scott and the stars, and a bit of footage at Comic-Con, we have remained in the dark about this possible "Alien" prequel. But now a very detailed syopsis is making the rounds of the Internet. It's said to be official, but many "Prometheus" items have carried that title and either been debunked or dismissed. This could be more of the same ... or it could actually be one giant spoiler. The level of detail it contains makes it go either way.I didn't read more than the opening sentence, so I can't comment on it good, bad, or otherwise. I'm copying and pasting this as blind as possible,...
