It was a meeting of Marvel titans at San Diego Comic-Con, where Marvel editor-in-chief C. B. Cebulski welcomed Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige for a conversation about collecting and the ways comic books inspire films (and vice versa).
Cebulski spent part of the panel showing off famous comic book art, and pared them with the scenes they inspired in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Among them was the iconic cover to 2007’s Civil War No. 7, which showed Captain America blocking Iron Man’s beam with his shield, and the cover to the 1939 classic Captain America No. 1, in which Cap punches Adolph Hitler in the face. Both moments inspired moments in Captain America: Civil War and Captain America: The First Avenger.
Feige remarked that it’d be cool if Disney+ had a feature that would allow one to scroll through a movie, and then see the comic book art that inspired the shot.

Film about actor who played the father of Neville Longbottom feels like The Office meets Withnail, though doesn’t really dig deeply into its subject
Who is James Payton? The simple answer is that James Payton is a jobbing actor. You’ve probably seen him in something. His two claims to some kind of fame are blink-and-you’ll-miss-em parts in a couple of franchises: Neville Longbottom’s dad in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and Hitler in the first Captain America movie. Payton’s other credits include “geography lecturer” in The Crown and “wasted guy” in a terrible Jonathan Pryce thriller from 2005. The two franchises, however, have opened the door to a nice little side hustle: regional fan conventions where Payton sells signed photos of himself for £10.
The film follows him around the “cons”, where franchise fans queue to get a selfie with Harry Potter’s mate’s dad.

Oliver Twist, the time-honored saga from Charles Dickens, is bound for the big screen once more with a, ahem, twist.
This time, Disney is fanning the flames of a live-action version, and has now enlisted both Ice Cube and Thomas Kail, the Tony-winning director of Broadway hit Hamilton, for this new interpretation. As you’ve likely already gathered from the addition of Kail, the Mouse House is angling this particular version of Oliver Twist as a modern musical, one in which Cube will play the infamous part of Fagin, the ringleader of a London gang who introduces our titular orphan to the seedy world of pickpocketing and theft. Hardship, murders and secrets ensue.
By casting the N.W.A rapper-turned-actor, who most recently produced the rather excellent Straight Outta Compton, The Hollywood Reporter notes that Disney is aiming to broaden the scope of the traditional Dickens story, incorporating new music genres including hip-hop and more.

Are you a fan of Kevin Hart? Does Ice Cube’s cold stare get you all hot and bothered? Do you enjoy shootouts kissed by Miami’s neon glow, while latin dance music plays soundtrack to the chaos? If so, then congratulations – you’re the target demographic for Tim Story’s buddy cop sequel, Ride Along 2!
Story’s second ride is another obvious police comedy that admittedly works better than the original does, but it’s still the same partners-with-attitude tomfoolery we’ve seen before, except this time in Florida – and Olivia Munn co-stars. Otherwise, it’s more Black Hammer references, disapproving glares from Cube, and another heaping helping of Hart’s mile-a-minute intensity, which is hopefully all you’re looking for.

Not daring to mess with the formula that resulted in its predecessor hitting a worldwide gross of over $150 million, Ride Along 2 reunites Ice Cube and Kevin Hart as the mismatched cop duo who somehow manage to solve cases while constantly bickering. Showcasing Cube's trademark scowl and Hart's all-around goofiness to crowd-pleasing, if not exactly scintillating, comic effect, this sequel, arriving two years to the month after the original, should enjoy equally robust box-office returns. The plot of this effort is essentially the same as before. Veteran Atlanta detective James Payton (Cube), whose coolness is signified

Though this year’s breakout comedy hit Ride Along was almost entirely the Ice Cube and Kevin Hart show, Universal’s upcoming sequel, Ride Along 2, has been putting together a pretty terrific supporting cast over the past few weeks. First, we heard that 24: Live Another Day actor Benjamin Bratt had come aboard in an unspecified role. Next, Attack of the Show! host and geek goddess Olivia Munn joined the cast, taking on the role of a tough Miami homicide detective who becomes the object of Detective James Payton’s (Cube) affection. Now, we’ve learned that The Hangover and Community star Ken Jeong has hitched a ride on the comedy sequel.
Jeong will play “a cocky computer hacker who fancies himself a ladies man but is also important in solving the case that Cube and Hart are working on.” The part is described as similar to Joe Pesci...

Geek goddess Olivia Munn has a major supporting role in Scott Derrickson’s upcoming horror vehicle Deliver Us From Evil, but today brings news that the actress, who stars on HBO’s The Newsroom, will be brandishing her formidable comedic chops for her next big role. Universal has recruited Munn to join Kevin Hart and Ice Cube in 2016′s comedy sequel Ride Along 2.
Munn is said to be playing a tough Miami homicide detective who is a love interest for Cube’s hard-boiled Detective James Payton. It’s exciting to see the talented actress come aboard – hopefully (?) she’ll have more to do than walk around in various states of undress, which was the extent of actress Tika Sumpter’s role in the first film. Plot details for the sequel, which finds Tim Story returning to direct, are hazy, but Variety reports that Ride Along 2 will find James...

To mark the release of Ride along on 30th June, we’ve been given 3 copies to give away on Blu-ray, along with 3 goody bags.
Ride Along is the uproarious laugh out loud action comedy about a fast talking security guard, Ben, (Kevin Hart) who joins his cop brother-in-law, James, (Ice Cube) on a 24-hour patrol of Atlanta in order to prove himself worthy of marrying Angela, James’ sister.
Ben sees himself as a crime fighting police man and isn’t going to let anyone stop him from achieving his dreams in love and career. What could possibly go wrong?
Directed by Black Reel Award nominee Tim Story (Think Like A Man, Hurricane Season, Fantastic 4);Ride Along stars comedy gold and Black Entertainment Television (Bet) Award winner Kevin Hart (About Last Night Grudge Match, This Is The End), as Ben Barber the larger than life underdog; Bet Comedy Award nominee Ice Cube (21 Jump Street,...

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That’s clearly the mentality that the writers of Ride Along brought to the table. And I can’t blame them, given the tremendous success that buddy comedies have found in Hollywood, particularly in recent years with action-heavy team-up comedies like 21 Jump Street and 2 Guns. Luckily, there’s more to Ride Along than just a rehash of those hits.
The main draw for most will be watching Ice Cube and Kevin Hart, two talented actors with supremely different personalities, share the screen. Cube, physically imposing and still radiating the same fierce anger that made his rapping work so iconic, fits perfectly into the role of Alabama Pd Detective James Payton, a tough-as-nails cop who relishes the chance to break protocol and kick in some heads.

Though we’re well underway into this year’s awards season, and the big Oscar contenders are showing worldwide, that didn’t stop Tim Story’s buddy cop comedy Ride Along spending three consecutive weeks at the top of the American box office. Though certainly a flawed piece, you can certainly see why this production has proved to be such a popular hit, with an unrelenting, scattergun approach to jokes. With it’s tongue firmly in its cheek, it certainly makes for an entertaining trip to the cinema.
When the calamitous, aspiring police man Ben Barber (Kevin Hart) decides he wants to propose to his long-term girlfriend Angela (Tika Sumpter), he knows that he has to be given her older brother’ James Payton’s (Ice Cube) blessing first. Ride Along challenges Kevin Hart, who plays a security guard newly accepted for police academy training, to impress Ice Cube's James Payton, a hardcore undercover Atlanta police officer who wants to stop his sister from marrying Hart's Ben Barber. Also starring Tika Sumpter, John Leguizamo and Bryan Callen and directed by Tim Story, the attempted comic riff on Training Day has a sequel in the works. Ride Along opened to a solid $1.1 million Thursday night, and is predicted by observers to outperform the actual action film opening this holiday weekend: Kenneth Branaugh's Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, starring Chris

2012 is going to be a big year at the movies. One of the most enticing possibilities is Ridley Scott's "Prometheus" which has, for the most part, kept rather quiet on all things spoilery. Other than a few stills, some cryptic interviews from Scott and the stars, and a bit of footage at Comic-Con, we have remained in the dark about this possible "Alien" prequel. But now a very detailed syopsis is making the rounds of the Internet. It's said to be official, but many "Prometheus" items have carried that title and either been debunked or dismissed. This could be more of the same ... or it could actually be one giant spoiler. The level of detail it contains makes it go either way.I didn't read more than the opening sentence, so I can't comment on it good, bad, or otherwise. I'm copying and pasting this as blind as possible,...

Jennifer Hudson said yes to her boyfriend of less-than-a-year, David Otunga. Representative of the American Idol alumna confirmed to People that she is engaged to Otunga who proposed during her 27th birthday.
"I can confirm that Jennifer got engaged to her boyfriend David on Friday night in L.A.," the rep said. Otunga who is known also as "Punk" in reality show "I Love New York 2", reportedly presented her with a Neil Lane diamond ring when proposing.
The couple who both are from Chicago, have been dating less than a year. Before Otunga, Hudson had a long-time relationship with James Payton but broke up with him in December 2007.
Hudson will release her self-titled debut album on September 30 and her next starring role is in "The Secret Life of Bees" where she plays alongside Queen Latifah, Alicia Keys and Dakota Fanning. "Bees" will open in theaters on October 17.
