Biography

Rajab Mahmood, also known as RJ, is a British Pakistani young filmmaker based in Birmingham UK. Since 2022, he has founded 'A Brothers Productions Films', a production company that only represents him and his close connections and 'A Local Arts Blueprint CIC' which is a charity set to connecting funds to aspiring and talented filmmakers and musicians of all ages, based in Birmingham, UK. Rajab and his affiliated companies share a similar vision - which is to entertain, educate and inspire through the power of unparalleled independent storytelling. With a diverse portfolio of personal funded productions, Rajab is a unique Writer/ Producer in his early stage of development as he caters for a diverse palette of genres and stories whilst never staying stuck to one thing. Outside of independent filmmaking, RJ is an enthusiastic reptile for knowledge - always adapting across new environments. In 2020, he dropped out of university to pursue the role of 'Grips Trainee' on Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, working under a legendary team of grips including David Appleby and Jack Fleming. On the same job, whilst production moved to Italy - RJ gained the opportunity to work as an Art Department Trainee for a month where he developed a relationship with Adam Stockhausen, the Oscar winning Production Designer and his team. Following Indiana Jones, an opportunity was received to work as a Greens Department Operative as subcontracted by the set dec department for the film, Barbie, starring Margot Robbie. Currently RJ is working in the world of finance admin to gain experience for roles within the Production Office and more. Returning back to Birmingham, with a new identity of BP films, Rajab has acquired his own start up equipment to independently produce his own material. Since that acquisition, he has worn multiple hats as Director, Writer and Producer or even doing all three on some of his filmography. RJ is an empathetic and approachable filmmaker who is able to relay detailed notes to his actors whilst also time managing a production to deliver a personal film packed with masala and an emotional touch. Inspired by the works of Yash Chopra and George Lucas - RJ is both a romantic and an optimist. His personal aims are silhouetted with a personal awe for relationships, inner beauty and conflict too. Following from these two industry tycoons of their own right - their influence is truly essential to RJ's growth.
