- Singer and dancer who performed with her sisters Betsy Ross and Vicki Ross.
- Youngest of the Ross Sisters, a trio of teenage sisters from Texas who were popular in North America and Europe for a brief time towards the end of WWII. The three danced, sang as a vocal trio, and were each skilled contortionists with gymnastic ability.
- According to the coroner, Ross took about fifteen sleeping pills, leaving a note for a daily maid that she wasn't to be disturbed. The coroner gave an open verdict. Husband Dickie Henderson had not seen Dixie in two weeks and returned home to hear that she had died on the way to the hospital. He later stated in his unfinished autobiography that the two were on a trial separation at the time and that he was actually returning home to discuss a reconciliation.
