Angela Norelli is a director, screenwriter and editor. She graduated at the italian national school of cinema - Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia and at Sapienza University, where she received her Masters with honors in Philosophy with a dissertation on the relationship between Dziga Vertov and the contemporary media.
In 2021 she wrote, edited and directed the found-footage Children love to hide, in competition at the 39° Torino film festival and later selected and awarded in several national and international film festivals. Then she wrote, directed and edited We should all be futurists, premiered in competition at 80° Mostra del Cinema di Venezia in Sic@Sic, where she won The best technical contribution and the Special mention for Best short film by the Fedic - collateral award of the Biennale.
We should all be futurists was then selected and awarded in several national and international film festivals, gained the nominee for best short film at David di Donatello 2024, and a special prize in Nastri D'Argento 2024.
In 2023 she won the most important screenwriting contest in Italy - the "Franco Solinas award, getting two prizes out of three: for the Best story, and (Claudia Sbarigia at the screenplay) for the best talent in telling female universe and characters.
She is also the editor of the short film "The dependent variables" by Lorenzo Tardella, the only italian short film premiered at Berlinale 2022, winner of the David di Donatello for best short film 2023, then streamed by Mubi and selected in several film festivals around the world, as BFI and Raindance among others.
