- Yvonne Chan, MD, PhD is a Chinese-American actor, ER doctor, and research scientist. After retiring from medicine and science, she pursued acting full time, appearing in numerous films, TV shows, commercials, and print campaigns.
Yvonne was born in Pingtung County, Taiwan, and is of Northeast Chinese and Hakka Taiwanese descent. Her family immigrated to the US when she was 8. She loved the performing arts from an early age, with fond memories of her Pre-K recital, drawing portraits, and an active imagination.
Growing up in an immigrant family, Yvonne viewed the world in a practical way. Fascinated by the sciences, she excelled academically and aimed to make a positive impact on her community. She became the first medical doctor and female PhD scientist in her family. Yvonne worked as an ER doctor in NYC and was the founding Director of the Center for Digital Health at a renowned medical school, as well as the Senior Director for Digital Medicine at a global pharmaceutical company.
After notable success in medicine and science, Yvonne transitioned to acting, intending to draw on her experiences to bring authenticity to AAPI stories and represent underheard voices.
