Amit Rudra is a prominent film activist in Bangladesh. He is a producer, actor, art director, and director in the Bangladeshi film industry. He was massively acclaimed for his performances in Shaaticup, released on Chorki in 2022.
Amit completed his graduation at the University of Rajshahi, majoring in fine arts. Currently, he is working as the executive producer at Footprint Film Production. Here, he has taken on roles as an executive producer and art director for two web series; "Shaaticup" and "Sinpaat". Both have already been released on Bangladesh's leading OTT platform chorki. Additionally, he recently worked as the line producer for an indo-bangla collaborative film "Zewel", directed by the renowned Indian filmmaker "Q" and produced by Oddjoint, which is in the post-production stage.
Throughout Amit's university years, he directed and produced 4 short films, and 1 documentary film, and participated in numerous commercial projects. His journey in the realm of cinema began with the film society movement in 2012 which he is still involved in. In 2015, he made his first short film, which gained recognition in some festivals. This pivotal moment led him to commit to the art of filmmaking.
Amit joined "footprint" in 2020. He marked the turning point in his career here, by working on the web series "Shaaticup". The series received numerous accolades, including "National Winner" from the "Asian Academy of Creative Awards" Singapore 2022, "Best Series (critics)" in Meril-Prothom Alo Award 2022, "Best Series (critics)" in Blender's Choice-Daily Star & Digital Content Awards 2022 etc. Most importantly, it was warmly received by the audiences in both Bangladesh and India. Amit had the privilege of serving as the executive producer and art director for "Shaaticup" and played one of the lead roles in the series.
Amit also acted in films like "Zewel" (Q), "Bangali Bilash" (Ebadur Rahman), and a web series "Gulmohor" (Syed Ahmed Sawki); all of these are in the post-production phase.
Amit Rudra firmly believes that only by the decentralizing of art and cinema obviously, the authentic and core human stories come forth that the world needs to hear, the world needs to see.
