Anushka Shah is the CEO of Civic Studios, the Mumbai and London based media production company that creates entertainment for social change, and was incubated by her at the MIT Media Lab, USA.
Anushka serves as a producer on a range of socially-driven films and series such as Christmas Karma (Christmas musical directed by Gurinder Chadha), Family Aaj Kal (dramedy series released on SonyLiv), 'Schirkoa: In Lies We Trust' (animation feature film that premiered at International Film Festival of Rotterdam 2024 and won the NETPAC Award for 'Best Asian Film'), Little Thomas (feature film starring Rasika Dugal and Gulshan Devaiah), Vakeel Babu (released on Amazon miniTV), Ye Saali Naukri (series released on MXPlayer), and other projects in development with talent like Pan Nalin, Hitesh Kewalya, Disha Rindani and UK-based Shudder Films.
Anushka worked at MIT at the Media lab for several years on media impact, prior to which she completed her masters degree from New York University in applied statistics with a focus on quantitative media and her bachelor degree in Government & Economics from the London School of Economics. Previously,she has worked with non-profit organizations involved with low-income communities, at-risk young adults, and undertrial prisoners in India. Anushka has published in and spoken for various news outlets such as the Washington Post, NPR, The Wire, and The Huffington Post. She divides her time between Mumbai and London.
