James Ross(LXIV)
- Actor
Since James was a baby, you could find him in front of the stereo, cranking the volume all the way up and grooving back and forth. When he inevitably took his first dance class, his natural musicality and explosive passion shone through each pas de bourree. Dance challenged James to realize his strength, confidence and charisma over the many years he spent at competitions, festivals and recitals.
As soon as he knew enough words to do so, James began belting his favourite jams at the top of his lungs. Through years of singing in choirs, musicals and featured performances, James has developed impressive vocal skill, often compared by audience members and bookers to Michael Buble. A gifted guitarist as well, you may have seen James busking on Granville Island, or at the Water St. Café to name a couple. Most recently, James has begun taking piano lessons with the Royal Conservatory of Music, and private lessons in voice to expand his abilities.
James' passion for film began at the age of five, after his first viewing of Star Wars. Inspired, he went on to directing and starring in dozens of home movies with the help of his siblings and iMovie. After years of dancing and singing, acting was only a natural addition to his many passions. He jumped at the opportunity to play Seymour in his high school's production of Little Shop of Horrors. After it's successful run, he immediately went on to play Nigel, Prince of Hearts in Metro Theatre's Alice in Wonderland, from which he received a CTC Award Nomination for Best Actor in a Musical. He studies with Micheal Bean, owner of Biz Studio for tv and film acting, and takes voiceover classes with On The Mic to further hone his craft.
A fresh and eager face in the industry, James is super excited to join da Costa's roster so that he may keep chasing his dream to perform on stage and screen.
