Omarion will star as a charismatic hitman with a conscience in a new original drama series from AMC Networks’ Allblk titled “Wild Rose.”

Created by Deji Laray, the series follows Roosevelt aka “Rose,” who “comes from a family of assassins that also happen to run a nonprofit organization,” according to the logline. “Behind the nonprofit facade is an elite, family-run, hired-gun agency known for taking down high-profile targets.”

Rose’s life turns upside down when his wife and daughter mysteriously walk out of his life and disappear for months. Suspecting foul play, Rose embarks on a journey to uncover the truth, unraveling a “web of secrets that force him to question his identity within his own family.”

“I’m ecstatic that I’m back on your television in a new way,” Omarion said in a statement. “I can’t wait for the Allblk fans and others to see a different side of me.

Director Erik White discusses how the diverse cast of The Plus One highlights the fact that we're all just people, regardless of differences. White praises Ashanti's involvement in the film as both a producer and actress, showcasing her multi-talented skills. Cedric the Entertainer's improvisational skills made a significant impact on the film, with White describing how his off-script moments added to the hilarity of the scenes.

Erik White may be best known for his long and fruitful collaborations in the music industry, but he's now successfully transferred his video directing skills into feature film projects. His latest movie, The Plus One, is a celebration of friendship as well as a raucous comedy that makes use of its large and talented cast. In it, he works with the legendary Cedric the Entertainer as well as R&b sensation Ashanti, showing he still knows how to blend his two worlds.

BET+ has set premiere dates for its fall slate of films and new and returning TV series.

First on the list is “Love & Murder: Atlanta Playboy,” a film series starring Taye Diggs. Part 1 debuts on Sept. 21 while Part 2 will arrive on the streamer a week later, on Sept. 28. The films follow an investigation into the murder of Lance (Diggs), a successful Atlanta businessman known both for revolutionizing the city’s 911 system and for being a womanizer. The cast also includes Keesha Sharp, Ciera Payton, Apryl Jones, Ernestine Johnson, Nicole Lyn, Robert Brown, Tye White, Anton Peeples, Yung Joc, Karlie Redd and Yandy Smith. Jaira Thomas directs scripts from Gregory R. Anderson. Mona Scott-Young and Eric Tomosunas executive produce, with co-executive producers including Lorisa Bates, Marvin Neil, Stephanie R. It wasn’t all fun and games on Ryan Murphy’s “The Glee Project”, apparently.

To mark the 10th anniversary of the final episode of the reality show, that aired from 2011 to 2012, contestants have spoken out about their time on the series.

Insider interviewed multiple stars of the show, which was dedicated to finding “Glee”‘s next big star, with season 2 contestant Abraham Lim admitting: “There were so many great elements of the show, but it was also really anxiety-inducing and there was a lot of trauma. Trauma bonds were made.”

Executive producer Shauna Minoprio insisted it was all about who Murphy wanted to write a “Glee” character for.

“What’s interesting about the show is, this was about somebody’s creative vision,” Minoprio told the publication. “It wasn’t about who’s the best singer or dancer. It was about who Ryan Murphy was the most excited to write a character for.

The Isley Brothers have enlisted Snoop Dogg for their first new song in four years, “Friends and Family.”

“Friends and Family” is a breezy party-starter with a thumping bass groove and some slick guitar work from Ernie Isley. The track finds Ronald Isley celebrating the most important things in life — “Although we didn’t have much we still had each other,” he croons, “And what we went through, we went through it together/We stick together through thick or thin/I thank God for family and all my day one friends!

Exclusive: Veteran manager/producer Brad Kaplan has joined Link Entertainment as a partner. Kaplan, who comes from Primary Wave Entertainment, will work out of Link’s West L.A. offices which were expanded last month in part to make room for the company’s growing literary department.

“We have had the privilege to work with Brad in the past and he has been a friend for over 15 years,” the Link partners said in a statement. “He is one of the smartest and most genuine people we have had the pleasure to collaborate with. As we expand our literary/production division, we couldn’t ask for a better partner. We have always admired Brad’s incredible taste in both clients and material”.

Michael is very excited because he thinks this theme will help him be more spontaneous and stop overthinking his performances. Mario thinks he’ll do well with the theme, while Lily isn’t thrilled about it. Then all of the contestants find out that they have to sing the song solo.

After last week’s heavy bullying-themed episode, some welcome levity highlights the competition’s fourth week.

What this week’s episode of The Glee Project lacked in suspense, it made up for in peculiar delights. We got the Color Me Badd flashback we didn’t even know we wanted. We received a translation of Kelis’ “Milkshake” lyrics rooted entirely in economic theory. And we even got video director Erik White sending an unruly contestant to the naughty corner.

Things kicked off with our contenders squealing with delight after finding out the week’s theme would be sexuality. Then again, the contestants would probably squeal with delight if casting director Robert Ulrich was replaced by Jigsaw and...

Things got real this week, you guys. The theme was vulnerability, which meant it was time for deep confessions and a lot of tears.

Homework Assignment: “My Life Would Suck Without You” by Kelly Clarkson

I was confused by this song choice. It’s a happy, upbeat song! And yet the contestants managed to make it sound depressing as possible. Apparently this bunch thinks that being vulnerable means looking into the distance and making sad pouty faces. Guest mentor Cory Monteith picked Nellie, who was definitely the standout, as the winner. Props to the show for having both Rachel and Finn on as guests already.

Chicago – The comedy “Lottery Ticket,” recently released on Blu-ray and DVD, is so forgettable that it seems almost mean to pile on top of the negative reviews that greeted it in theaters. Despite the presence of Ice Cube as both supporting player and executive producer, Lottery Ticket is no Friday. It ain't even Barbershop (or Millions, for that matter). But it's not bad for an urban comedy, generally amusing in its first hour before getting inevitably preachy on us.

One can almost see this as a passing of the torch from Cube to the no-longer-Lil' Bow Wow, from one rapper-turned-actor to another, and while Wow doesn't quite boast the former's innate charm, he's perfectly fine as the clean-cut Kevin, a would-be shoe designer who's ashamed of how everyone in his Atlanta projects is lining up to take a chance on a $370 million lotto jackpot. It's a system "designed to keep poor people poor," he insists, but once he loses his job at Foot Locker after a run-in with a local thug (Gbenga Akinnagbe), he's not above giving it a shot. Sure enough,...

Kevin (rapper Bow Wow: The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Roll Bounce) doesn’t play the lottery, because he thinks it’s “designed to keep poor people poor by selling them false dreams.” So why does he buy a lottery ticket anyway? Because he couldn’t win $370 million if he hadn’t, and there would be no movie if he didn’t, silly! This bizarre bit of inexplicable screenwriting does also serve another purpose: it is perhaps the best explanation for the existence of this crass excuse for a comedy: it’s wish fulfillment to keep the American underclass from revolting for another week. Newbie screenwriters Erik White and Abdul Williams (music video director White is also making his feature debut) could have elected to not have Kevin disparage lottery-playing, but I suspect that this reality-based approach to the dollar-and-a-dream lottery philosophy is meant to, er, keep it real.

Who’S It For? Being a fan of the cast members’ previous comedic work would be a great advantage towards possibly enjoying Lottery Ticket.

Expectations: The wide cast had me optimistic that this movie could bring in a wide variety of laughs, along with a story that makes for an interesting, but altogether slightly impossible predicament.

Ice Cube began his career as a member of the seminal West coast rap group N.W.A. but quickly transformed himself into a movie star with roles in such films as Boyz N the Hood, Higher Learning, Three Kings and XXX: State of the Union. The actor is also an accomplished writer and producer and has built three of his hit films, Friday, Barbershop and Are We There Yet?, into successful franchises. Now Cube is beginning to make another transition in his career from that of leading man to supporting actor in the new film Lottery Ticket, which he also produced and opens in theaters on August 20th. Erik White's Lottery Ticket is so generally-but-not-notably bad that it's hard to even muster the critical stamina to appraise it. It's one of those movies that is rarely so unbearable that it demands that a critic warns his loyal readers away from going anywhere near it but it also contains so few positive attributes that there's very little nice to say about this semi-comedy. Comedy is serious business. In directing his first feature film, it appears Erik White found out just how tough it is. And though he seems to have a thorough understanding of the formula and techniques involved in movie-making, “Lottery Ticket” has more misfires than hits within its 90 or so minutes of screen time.

The premise is simple. Kevin Carson, played by Bow Wow, is a high-school graduate who lives with his Grandma while working at the local Foot Locker. Though he tries to keep it a secret after his lottery ticket comes up a winner, everyone in the housing project they call home learns of his windfall. Matters are made worse because it’s Fourth of July weekend. Kevin, along with his best friend Benny, has to keep the winning ticket intact and in his possession until the lottery office opens up on Tuesday, July 5th. That’s where the fun usually begins.

Erik White wanted the housing projects in Lottery Ticket, his fractious wish-fulfillment comedy, to look like an "Everywhere, USA" that would be relatable to all. Though he envisioned the story taking place in his hometown of New York City, circumstance led him to shoot in Atlanta, Georgia, largely on a complex of soon-to-be demolished projects with a pink-bricked, benignly institutional look. He carefully shot around any identifying signs or landmarks, ensuring that his generic, non-specific, ultimately unsatisfying take on a bullet-proof concept -- an 18-year-old Foot Locker employee wins the lottery but is forced to wait out a long weekend within the cutthroat ecosystem of his community before he can claim the prize -- is reflected in its hermetic, alienating aesthetic.

Jay Sean and Nicki Minaj share screen in a music video for their duet track "2012 (It Ain't the End)". The British singer and the female rapper are throwing party around the globe to celebrate life before the end of the world.

"The concept of the video is basically all about throwing the biggest party, celebrating life," Sean told MTV during the filming. "It's basically going around the world, from London to Tokyo to New York, seeing people celebrating good times."

Film bosses behind upcoming movie Lottery Ticket have been hit with a lawsuit from a screenwriter who alleges his idea was stolen.

Tom Huang filed papers at Los Angeles County Superior Court on Wednesday claiming he wrote a treatment for a movie plot in 2004 and talked it over with his agent Brad Kaplan.

The writer alleges Kaplan "stole" the idea and passed it on to his client Erik White, who wrote and directed Lottery Ticket, about a young man who has to fend off his greedy neighbours when they discover he's holding a winning ticket worth $350 million (£233 million).

Huang claims the film, which is due for release later this month, includes parts of his story such as "detailed plot elements, characters, and scenes", reports TMZ.com.

He is seeking an undisclosed amount but states in the legal documents that Lottery Ticket, starring Ice Cube, is likely to make millions of dollars in profit.

Ice Cube 's new movie  " Lottery Ticket " doesn't come out for another week -- but there's already a legal fight over the flick ... from a screenwriter who claims his agent ripped off his idea and gave it to another one of his clients. Screenwriter Tom Huang filed a lawsuit Weds in L.A. Superior Court, against Evolution Entertainment, and managers Brad Kaplan, Oren Koules and Mark Burg, as well as Erik White, the director of the upcoming film Lottery Ticket, (who also has a co-”story by” credit on the film), claiming “breach of fiduciary duty, aiding and abetting breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, civil conspiracy, breach of oral contract, promissory estoppel, breach of implied-in-fact-contract and unjust enrichment.” Whew! In other words… they stole his script.

Huang claims that in 2004, Evolution took him on as a client and helped him develop a treatment for a film called “Gotta Make It Til Morning.” Kaplan, a literary manager, then allegedly suggested Huang work with White, another Evolution client, to develop the idea further. After a few meetings, the project didn’t go anywhere, and Huang says he thought the movie was dead. That is, until...

Bow Wow made an announcement via Twitter that he will be joining Tyler Perry on his next feature film, "Madea’s Big Happy Family." AOL Black Voices reported that Bow Wow and Loretta Devine will team up again and that they will play mother and son. Also, joining the cast is Lauren London. Tyler Perry is directing, writing, and producing "Madea’s Big Happy Family." This is a 34th Street Films and The Tyler Perry Company production, and Lionsgate will distribute and is currently set for an April 22, 2011 theatrical release.

At the Lakewood Stages in Atlanta, Georgia we are inside of a house on a sunny day, or at least you would think that until you looked up and saw the entire ceiling was made up of lighting rigs, and that "sunlight" is a few very powerful lights blasting through the windows. Met on the set last Monday on July 19, 29-year-old Jay revealed that the clip is an homage to "partying like there is no tomorrow" and its concept is actually about celebrating their life and having some good times.

It took a while, but finally the complete and final 2010 Black Harvest Film Festival in Chicago has been announced. Over 40 movies in every category from feature film to shorts, documentaries, dramas (such as Bilal’s Stand pictured), comedies and everything else in between. All the films will be screened at the Gene Siskel Film Center in Chicago located at 164 N. State St in the heart of downtown Chicago.

Opening night is Friday August 6th and the festival continues throughout the month until Thursday Sept. 2 with a special advance screening of Tanya Hamilton’s Night Captures Us with Ms. Hamilton present. Of course I will be there too on most nights, so if you ever had the desire to punch me out for any of my articles on S & A now here’s your chance. (Not that I encourage it though…)
