Scooby Dooby Doo, where are you? Soon enough, Scooby-Doo and the whole gang can be right in your living room, as Spooky Pinball has announced their latest mystery machine: one based off of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon. So no, you won’t be seeing Freddie Prinze Jr. behind the backglass.
Three additions of the Scooby-Doo pinball machine will be available: Standard, Blood Sucker Edition and Collectors Edition. Some of the gameplay features on the versions include five-player mode, secret passages and a bravery meter. There are also 16 custom sculpts, over 200 LEDs and a pop-up Scooby in a barrel! Artwork is by Matt Frank and Jeff Zornow, with music by Matthew Montgomery.
The Blood Sucker Edition also adds more kits, protective armor for the flipper button, special decals, and more. The Collectors Edition scares up even more goodies, with more sculpts, signs and cabinetry upgrades. Both the...

Nothing fits the music documentary format quite so compellingly as a life cut tragically short. In addition to the ready-made dramatic arc, a subject who leaves this mortal coil before their time usually also leaves a certain amount of mystery in their wake, providing ample grist for filmmakers (and the folks they interview) to chew on.
Even when the hows and whys of an artist's tragic exit are a matter of uncontroversial record, questions of "What might have been?" inevitably linger over their prematurely truncated discography — in itself a far...

Back in 2007, we ran an article called Gay Sex Scenes that Made Movie History. A delightfully naughty exploration of firsts and foresk- ... er, foremosts in terms of gay male intimacy on the silver screen, it celebrated some of the films that blew the celluloid closet to bits, one modesty sock at a time.
Six years later, it's shocking just how far pop culture has come in terms of normalizing gay characters and stories, and how much bolder the gay film audience has grown in demanding films that speak truthfully to their sexual experience (though, it must be said, the films that answer the call are usually decidedly outside of the mainstream). So we've decided to bring you an update to our foundational piece that looks at what has happened since. HollywoodNews.com: Have not seen the film yet but there are three reasons why I’m confident it will be quite good: Matthew Montgomery, David Moretti and Rebekah Kochan.
On Monday, Aug. 29 (is August really almost over? That was fast!), there will be a DVD release party for the new film Finding Mr. Right at Here Lounge from 8 p.m. to 2 p.m. Matthew wants me to point out this very important fact: Open bar from 8pm-9pm!
Go to the Facebook page for more info on the party.
About the film: Matthew stars as Clark Townsend, an ambitious, serious-minded talent manager who is forced to attend a wilderness therapy retreat weekend to save his disastrous, Hollywood-starlet (Kochan) client’s career, who has no clue he is about to fall unexpectedly head over heels for her new, awkward, fun-loving life-coach, Pearce Wright (Moretti).

Peter Jackson has decided to release his Hobbit films in December of 2012 and 2013. He’s also decided to title the first The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and the second The Hobbit: There and Back Again. He’s yet to name the giant vault he must be building to put in all the money that he’s going to make.
While we were all spending time with friends and family in the U.S., honoring those who served and gave their lives, not everything went well.

"Gay movies all suck!"
As a critic who regularly reviews movies of gay interest, I hear this a lot. And while it's undoubtedly true that there are gay movies that do suck, I'm not sure they suck at any higher rates than other genres. Do micro-budgeted gay indie movies tend to suck more? Not any more than all micro-budgeted indie movies, I'd argue. Most of us just don't watch that many micro-budgeted movies.
And even if some gay movies do suck, there are indisputably plenty of others that don't. In fact, when I sat down to make this annual list, I was surprised by how quickly I came up with a number of truly outstanding films. And what do you know? They all veered between "micro-budget" and "low-budget," with a smattering of "high-enough-budget-to-at-least-pay-a-caterer" (and there's also one studio movie).
All in all, it wasn't a bad year for gay film...

While the audience laughs in recognition of the stereotype that inspires such a line, a similar statement can be made of gay-themed movies, particularly those classified as “romcoms.” I don’t wish to imply that Role/Play and Douglas Langway’s BearCity, another American “You’ll Laugh! You’ll Cry! You’ll See Tons of Male Flesh!” effort, are representative of what the festival had to offer. Rather, I would argue that they are emblematic of the audience’s low standards when faced with the festival’s lighter fare. In the case of both films,...

Release Date: October 8, 2010 (limited)
Plot: A disgraced former soap star meets a divorcing gay-marriage advocate at a Palm Springs resort.
Who’S It For? Gay men who don’t like subtlety.
Expectations: I hadn’t heard anything about this film before it arrived at my house. However, the cover of the film showed two naked men making out … so that’s all I had to go on.
Scorecard (0-10)
Actors:
Steve Callahan as Graham Windsor: Callahan makes a credible soap star, if only his character wasn’t supposed to be a real person as well. He’s not bad looking, but his performance lacks emotion. For someone who’s supposed to be at some sort of crossroads, he just seems bored. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have any chemistry with his costar, Montgomery, either.

Starring real-life partners Steve Callahan and Matthew Montgomery, Role/Play chronicles the emotional ups and downs of a recently outed soap opera actor (Callahan) and a recently divorced gay marriage activist (Montgomery) who meet at a Palm Springs resort. In the film, two transgender women "alter their bodies to become a single Pandrogynous being," while a young gay transman dates a "cisgender hipster." In the documentary Out in Silence:...

HollywoodNews.com: Outfest 2010, the 28th annual Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, does not begin until July 8 but I’m starting the onslaught of pre-festival publicity because it is very necessary to make your choices and plan your schedule for 11 days of movies, parties and events.
I’m so proud to be a media sponsor this year – for the first time – because this is an event that has given me so many rich memories as a film lover and as a gay man.
Last week’s kickoff party was a real blast and I was so happy to see friends like Steve Callahan and Matthew Montgomery (pictured with me) who co-star in the Outfest entry Role/Play.

Real-life gay couples who both act, and whether Mark Indelicato and Chris Colfer will end up bitter and typecast like Sean Hayes! Plus, a Simon Rex sex-tape scandal primer!

Q: I have always had a massive movie crush on the ever-darling Simon Rex. I was not of the generation that lived through his rise to stardom and/or the revelation of pre-stardom past. How did he survive it? How did the gay community go through it? It seems stunning to me that the news of his past is not more widely discussed. Was it well discussed in the past, or simply a notch on a tabloid page? Did he ever fend off allegations of him being gay? – Maharajah, West Palm Beach, Fl

Director: David Kittredge
Cast: Matthew Montgomery, Pete Scherer, Jared Grey, Walter Delmar
Studio: Triple Fire Productions
Writer and director David Kittredge’s feature film debut, Pornography: A Thriller may strike audiences with its bold title, but the film works more off of attempting to flummox its audience than titillating them with taunt flesh or genuine thrills. It’s most certainly an ambitious project, one that seems to draw comparisons to David Lynch left and right, but the film tackles so many different styles and stories that it’s hard for it to hold up over time.

With a provocative title like Pornography, the new film by writer/director David Kittredge won’t have any trouble getting attention for itself.
That’s probably a good thing for the filmmakers, because the word-of-mouth is going to be bad.
The movie is pretty clearly a “gay” riff on David Lynch’s deliberately obtuse Mulholland Drive, which I happened to love. Both movies shift storylines midway through, and the same actors play different characters.
There’s more to reality than just what we see with our eyes, both movies say.
Since Pornography depends on the surprise of these shifting storylines – and, apparently, differing realities – I don’t want to give anything away.
But suffice to say that the movie involves an ex-adult movie star in the past who disappears under mysterious circumstances, a man in the present writing a book on the history of gay adult movies,...

Two people weary from life meet unexpectedly and, even though they only know each other for a couple of days, discover a mind-blowing love that Changes Everything. But one of them has unbreakable commitments elsewhere — forcing him to ask, "Do I dare pursue this mind-blowing love, even if it means hurting other people?"
It's the plot of Bridges of Madison County and Nights in Rodanthe, right?
It's also the basic plot of a charming new gay movie, Redwoods, released last month on DVD.
Everett feels stifled with Miles, the man with whom he is raising an autistic son. But then Miles and their son go away for a week, and Everett meets Chase, a traveling novelist in town to research a book.
And so begins a brief, bittersweet love affair that will echo throughout the ages.
Look, if you simply can't buy this premise of "soul-mates," of love-at-first-sight, you won't like this movie.

Q: I´ve been reading the Kathy Griffin book and while it was much less fun than I was hoping for, there was something that really annoyed me -- besides the fact that in her world "the gays" is a synonym for hair dresser or shopping buddy. Kinda makes me wish she´d actually let me at her hair to change that attitude. Anyway, in the book she says that Andy Dick got punched in the face by Wesley Snipes for using (and I quote) "the n-word" in a club. Later there is another Dick story about one of his stand-up appearances where he called the audience repeatedly (and I quote again) "faggots.” So why isn´t it "the n-word" and "the f-word" Or "nigger" and "faggot"? -- Thomas,...

In a interview I did with Sean Abley, writer, producer, & actor from 'Socket' for the 1st issue of Nowhere 2 Be Found Magazine coming out in January. He talked a little about the upcomming sequel. ..."The plot starts about a month after the end of the first film, with Matthew Montgomery's character waking up from his coma. We find that one of the characters from the first film has involved herself in the electric "reasearch", and together they figure out a way to make it even more twisted." They are currently searching for funding "I really hope we can start it soon" he said.

Q: Did I miss a meeting? When was it decided to change the commonly used reference “Glbt” to “Lgbt”? Every time I hear Lgbt used, it’s like the person slows down to deliberately not accidently say the long-used Glbt. -- Michael

A: It wasn’t a meeting; it was a memo. Check your inbox.
I’ve heard two theories on the acronym change: some say the change was deliberate, to give more prominence to lesbians who – let’s face it – are too often afforded second-class status in the Glbt community. Other people have told me that in certain parts of the country Lgbt has always been the accepted moniker, and the rest of us are just … wrong.

Fangoria.com’s Gay of the Dead blogger/filmmaker Sean Abley sent over word on his latest production, Pornography, which will have its world premiere in New York City Monday, June 8 at NewFest, The New York Lgbt Film Festival. Written and directed by first time feature filmmaker David Kittredge, who edited Abley’s movie Socket, Pornography is described by Abley as “a paranormal thriller set in the world of gay adult video.”
Kittredge elaborates, “It’s about what happens when a porn star disappears in the ’90s, and 15 years later, two guys try to figure out what happened. The mystery of what occurred kind of recedes as they search, and the obsession with finding out what was real and what was fantasy about pornography in general, and how they blur, becomes the real journey. It’s kind of about searching for something that you don’t really want to know the answer to,...

If his career keeps moving in the same direction, Matthew Montgomery may end up being the gay Parker Posey. Having played leads in at least seven independent features in just five years, plus another handful of supporting roles, he has established his indie street cred at a time when gay cinema seems to be exploding. Fans of gay cinema will probably remember Montgomery from Gone, But Not Forgotten, Long-term Relationship and the supernatural-tinged Back Soon.
Getting his start in Reign Of The Dead, a living dead short lensed in and around “Zombie Ground Zero,” Pittsburgh, he’s made his way up the indie food chain and appeared in other genre films, including Socket (which I wrote and directed, natch), Fear House and the upcoming Pornography.
But Montgomery isn’t just an actor in horror and sci-fi flicks; he’s a fan of them as well. A professed sci-fi nerd, Montogmery...
