Alyson Stoner, the former child and teen actor from “Cheaper by the Dozen” and “Camp Rock” who also had an acclaimed career as a dancer in the “Step Up” movies and various Missy Elliot music videos, is publishing a memoir this month about the highs and lows of their Hollywood career. In a new excerpt published by Vanity Fair, Stoner reveals the brutal diet and exercise regimen they inflicted amid an eating disorder to win the role of Katniss Everdeen in “The Hunger Games.”

“Katniss was the ultimate role and the ultimate strong female lead: purpose-driven, sharp, athletic, and, thankfully, a heroine whose capacities were more important than physical beauty. But the role was playing with fire for me,” Stoner writes. “Katniss was characteristically thin — not starving, but small enough to reflect growing up in an underfed district — and muscular from hunting and archery. If I was going to devote...

‘Phineas and Ferb’ Returns: How – and Why – Disney Got the Band Back Together After 10 Years
Image
There’s 104 days of summer vacation, and in 2015 it wasn’t school that came along to end it, but Disney Channel. Now, almost exactly 10 years after ending with Season 4, “Phineas and Ferb” is back.

The fifth season of the animated series hit Disney+ on Friday, with 10 episodes —and 30 more to come — an order that thoroughly surprised creators and showrunners Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh. According to the duo, there’s always been “murmuring” about more, which resulted in two TV movies. So, they thought Disney was approaching them just for another film.

Instead they were told “we think we should never have stopped doing this show” -and from that came the deal for not one but two more seasons that continue directly from the original.

And that original set a high bar. During its 2007-2015 run, “Phineas and Ferb” became the most successful animated series for viewers aged 6-14 in Disney Television Animation history,...

‘Phineas and Ferb’ Sticks to What Works in a Welcome Return
Image
Most TV revivals are bad. They exist solely for the cynical purpose of exploiting a familiar title, not because there are new stories worth telling in a particular world. Good TV shows are the product of a specific time in the lives of the characters on the show, the people making the show, and the people watching at home. Change one or more of those, and it usually doesn’t work.

There are exceptions, of course. The passage of time in some ways enhanced both Roseanne/The Conners and Party Down,...

‘Phineas and Ferb’ Starts Rap Beef With John Oliver After He Mistakenly Says It Airs on PBS (Exclusive)
Image
John Oliver probably didn’t see this coming. The “Last Week Tonight” host appeared last week on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live,” where host Andy Cohen asked him about his kids’ TV diet. Oliver mentioned that “Bluey” and “Phineas and Ferb” are currently in heavy rotation at his house.

“Phineas and Ferb,” he raved, was “actually genuinely funny,” with “some good jokes in that.” But both Cohen and Oliver strangely didn’t know where “Phineas” actually runs — even though it’s been a Disney Channel staple since 2008. The best that Oliver could come up with: “I don’t know… PBS?”

Ooh, those are fighting words. “Phineas and Ferb” creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh weren’t having it. So the duo and their writers — currently working on the “Phineas” revival, set to drop this summer on Disney Channel and Disney+ — are humorously clapping back.

In what hopefully is the start of a new,...

3 things to know about Phineas and Ferb season 5
Image
Phineas and Ferb are back for another summer of inventions and fun. Fans said goodbye to the beloved series in 2015 after four seasons and two movies over eight years, but excitedly, that wasn't the end of their story. Creators Jeff "Swampy" Marsh and Dan Povenmire talk highly about their show and have always hoped to revive it.

Dan Povenmire, who brings Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz to life, regularly shares Phineas and Ferb content on his social platforms. In July 2024, an emotional Povenmire reacted to watching season 5's first episode in color. Even though his co-creator, Marsh, excuses him of "crying at everything," Povenmire says the episode was "really good and can't wait for the fans to see it."

If this doesn't make you cry, then I don't know what will. Not only are they co-creators, but their characters are rivals with Marsh playing Major Francis Monogram opposite Povenmire's Dr. Henix Doofenshmirtz,...

‘Phineas and Ferb’ Revival Trailer: Disney’s Step-Brothers Return After 10 Years for More Summer Vacation Adventures
Image
We’re getting another 104 days of summer vacation.

Disney has released the first trailer for its revival of “Phineas and Ferb,” bringing the iconic, inventing step-brothers back to the small screen 10 years after the show’s original run came to a close.

According to the official logline, “the new season of ‘Phineas and Ferb’ will follow the inventive step-brothers as they tackle another 104 days of summer. Candace is more determined than ever to finally bust her little brothers while their pet platypus, Perry, continues to lead a double life as the suave Agent P, whose sole mission is to thwart Dr. Doofenshmirtz from taking over the Tri-State area.”

In its first bout, the Emmy-winning series aired 140 episodes across four seasons from 2007 to 2015, spawning several spin-offs and films like the made-for-tv “Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension” and the Disney+ standalone feature “Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe.

10 Best Hulu Movies Of 2024
Image
Hulu's best movies of 2024 offer up a mix of content. For many years, Hulu wasnt known as the home for original content, but instead, as the streamer where recent television shows landed the next day. Because so many networks and studios have their own streamers now, Hulu has become increasingly involved in producing its own original movies and shows.

In 2024, Hulu released just as many documentaries as it did fictional stories and it really featured a wide range of stories for its audience to enjoy. Subscribers got documentaries about growing up in Hollywood, horror stories about childrens programming, coming-of-age tales, and stories set in the 1930s. Among them all, these were the best Hulu had to offer in 2024.

Many of Hulus original movies and documentaries are also available on Disney+.

Phineas And Ferb Season 5: Everything We Know About The Revival
Image
Disney's popular animated series Phineas and Ferb is returning for a brand-new fifth season soon, and there's already a lot to know about the cartoon's revival. Airing for four seasons between 2007 and 2015, the series concerns step-brothers Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher, who spend their summer vacation concocting elaborate and sometimes dangerous schemes. While dodging their controlling older sister Candace, the two are unaware that their pet platypus, Perry, is actually a secret agent tasked with foiling the plans of the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz. With its strange and playful concept, Phineas and Ferb stood apart from Disney's other fare.

Despite being somewhat short-lived (considering its huge cultural appeal), Phineas and Ferb lived on through feature films, video games, and even a small presence in Disney theme parks as well. Hope for a revival has been high since the show's conclusion in 2015, and though it took a while to get going, season 5 is finally in the offing.

Jared Padalecki's 10 Best Movies And TV Shows, Ranked
Image
There are many ways to talk about Jared Padalecki's career. You could gauge his work by the length of his iconically-floppy hairdo, which sometimes got too long, worked pretty well for him in the aughts, and has somehow circled back around to being in style again. You could talk about him as the King of The CW, a network that has leaned on him as a star for more than two decades, going all the way back to when it was called "The WB." You could note that he hasn't done much on film, probably as a result of his never-ending television schedule, but you could also note that in the 2000s, he ruled a number of fun horror movies anyway.

On the other hand, you could talk about Jared Padalecki the way he does: as a man just trying to provide for his family. "I've been absent a lot.

Initially, Siwa was seen as a girl next door, and her outfits were very pink-coded, not to forget her trademark bow. However, with age, she started experimenting more with her looks, and her style shifted towards more of a gothic touch. But she used this very thing in her favor, something many couldn’t even wrap their heads around.

Demi Lovato brought their life experience full circle by co-directing the new Hulu documentary “Child Star.”

The former Disney Channel kid turned teen pop sensation looks beyond their own career journey to analyze the rise of the entire child performer industry — from the Shirley Temple era to the TikTok and YouTube generation.

Lovato recruited fellow child stars Drew Barrymore, Kenan Thompson, Christina Ricci, Raven-Symoné, Alyson Stoner and JoJo Siwa to share their stories on camera; Raven-Symoné, Siwa and Stoner also joined Lovato on Sept. 12 at a special screening of the documentary, held at Neuehouse Hollywood. “Getting to talk to them so candidly about our experiences was so meaningful to me,” Lovato told Variety.

Because of that shared experience, Lovato’s conversations were markedly different than sitting down with someone who hasn’t been there. “There was a connectedness that was really important to all of us,” Lovato said. “That’s...
