Ruben Russo was born in Centurion, South Africa. His mother Riana is of South African decent, and his father Daniel is of South African/Australian decent. At the age of six Ruben Russo immigrated from South Africa to Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
Since the age of 17 years old, the award-winning Ruben Russo has been working on films as both cast and crew. Including Five Moons of Pluto (2020), The Master Cow (2021), The Curious Case of Dolphin Bay (2022) and A Loud Silence (2022) and finally, in August of 2023, Ruben Russo co-developed, co-produced, edited and coloured his debut short film as lead actor Arlo, in 'Arlo and The Sea'. The success of the film has since garnered Russo numerous awards including, Best Actor (Actors Award, London Indie Film Festival, Golden Film Award, Alternate Film Festival, Top Indie Film Awards), Producer (Smart Fone Flick Festival, London Indie Film Festival) and best Poster (Athens International Monthly Art Film Festival). Since, Ruben Russo has gone on to write his debut screenplay that has premiered at Flickerfest International Short Film Festival in January of 2025 called, 'All of Us at River's End'. Russo not only wrote this project, but produced, edited and coloured the film all the while serving as the lead actor in the role of Lucas. During post production for 'All of Us at River's End', he played the supporting character of 'Frankie' in 'A Little Strange' directed by Kieton Beilby (2024). During the latter half of 2024, Russo has made appearances in film media including The Pop-Culturalist and Supernova to promote his latest ventures. Currently in 2025, Ruben Russo is now attached to a number of upcoming short and feature films and is currently hard at work on his debut E.P. set for release in July of 2025.
