Born in 1994 the first year of a free South Africa, to a Zulu Father and British mother, Hloni held a unique vantage point of the growing pains of a nation always just as old as himself. This prompted him to approach a variety of film projects both creatively and sensitively, championing narratives that resonate with a diverse audience.
Starting his creative journey in 2015, at the dawn of the mirror-less camera, Hloni excelled in a time marked by innovation. His mastery of new technology like small cameras and drones means he can shoot alone and in small groups at a scale and quality that used to require entire film crews to bring to screen.
