This Outlander article contains Major spoilers for the Season 5 finale.
In the Outlander Season 5 finale, we see the horrific fallout from Claire’s abduction. While this mostly takes the form of having to watch Claire as she endures physical, emotional, and sexual abuse at the hands of Lionel Brown and the other bandits, we also get an update on how the citizens of Fraser’s Ridge are doing post-attack on the Ridge. Namely, that Geordie was killed by Lionel and his compatriots.
Who is Geordie, you may be asking yourself. A good question! The Geordie in question is not Print Shop Geordie (Lorn MacDonald), aka Jamie’s irritable print shop assistant who was such a charming addition to the Season 3 cast of characters. Nor is he Season 1 Geordie (Bryan Larkin), aka Geordie Dougal, who was memorably impaled by a wild board back in the Castle Leoch days. No, the current...

You might not recognise the name of director Ross W. Clarkson but its safe to say he has one hell of an action-movie pedigree. When ex-soldier turned mercenary, John Gold (Bennett), learns of the murder of his best friend, he sets off on a mission to find out what happened. What he discovers is a sinister conspiracy and he sets about taking down those responsible one by one.
Since parting ways with the WWE, former superstar Stu Bennett (aka Wade Barrett) has turned his hand to a career as a movie hard man. First as the villain in the fantastic Scott Adkins movie Eliminators and now here in Vengeance – where he takes on a more heroic role. Well I say hero, but it’s more in the sense of a vengeful, single-minded anti-hero in the grand revenge-seeking tradition of Charles Bronson.

"You best stop shooting your mouth off, now – or you're a dead man!" Saban Films + Lionsgate have just released an official trailer for another one of these low budget, super cheesy, totally awful-looking action films. This one is titled I Am Vengeance, a variation on the original Vengeance title for UK release. I Am Vengeance stars former WWE wrestler Stu Bennett (who wrestled under the name Wade "King" Barrett) as an ex-Special Forces soldier turned professional mercenary, who goes to a small town to investigate the murder of a friend and his parents. The film's cast includes Keith Allen, Gary Daniels, Anna Shaffer, Bryan Larkin, Sean Blowers, Sapphire Elia, Mark Griffin, and Wayne Gordon. I'm so, so tired of these films, only about guns and muscles and bravado and being men and honor and glory and all that crap. Here's the official Us trailer (+ poster) for Ross Boyask's I Am Vengeance,...

Crippled Ho, an illegal immigrant from mainland China sneaks into British-colonized Hong Kong in 1963, a den of corruption, drugs and violence. Working as a thug for a local gang, Ho comes to the attention of corrupt cop Lee Rock. The unlikely duo team up and set about taking over the city’s thriving, dangerous underworld.

Both films are something of a period piece: Scarface was set in the opulent 80s when drug dealers became rock stars, whereas Chasing the Dragon is set in the corrupt,...

"From now on, we're the kings of Hong Kong." Well Go USA has dropped another new trailer for the Hong Kong action/crime film Chasing the Dragon, from directors Jason Kwan & Jing Wong. This true story is about a drug lord in the 1960s, who snuck into British-ruled Hong Kong as an illegal immigrant. Donnie Yen stars as "Crippled Ho", who uses his combat skills to get deep into the underground world before being physically destroyed. He eventually works under the control of Chief Detective Sergeant, Lee Rock, played Andy Lau, until the Independent Commission Against Corruption (aka Icac) in 1974. The cast includes Philip Keung, Kang Yu, Kent Cheng, and Bryan Larkin. This film already first opened in September this year, but this is another trailer for the upcoming DVD/VOD release this January, in case you missed it. "Whatever I get in the future, you will get half." Well Go USA has unveiled two official trailers for the Hong Kong action film Chasing the Dragon, from directors Jason Kwan & Jing Wong. This true story is about a drug lord in the 1960s, who snuck into British-ruled Hong Kong as an illegal immigrant. Donnie Yen stars as "Crippled Ho", who uses his combat skills to get deep into the underground world before being physically ruined. He eventually works under the control of Chief Detective Sergeant, Lee Rock, played Andy Lau, until the Independent Commission Against Corruption (aka the Icac) in 1974. It also seems like there might be a few badass action scenes hidden in this film. Here's the Us trailers (+ intl.

*full disclosure: a Blu-ray screener of this film was provided by Anchor Bay Entertainment and Absolute Underground Magazine, for review. **there are spoilers here. Director: Brian O'Malley. Writers: David Cairns and Fiona Watson. Cast: Liam Cunningham, Pollyanna McIntosh, Bryan Larkin and Hanna Stanbridge. Let Us Prey is a horror film from Ireland. Partially funded by the Irish Film Board, the filmmakers have described the film as Assault on Precinct 13, with the threat coming from within. That threat has been cast in fire and brimstone. The Devil is searching for souls and the Christian themes were yawntastic. All of the characters are morally vacuous. Instead of finding courage, they succumb to murder and cowardice. With no one to lead the film away from evil, the film offers no real strong, underlining message. Some tension is created by the antagonist, Six (Liam Cunningham). But, Let Us Prey devolves into a gory spectacle,...

It’s possible that Let Us Prey peaks too early.
The title sequence is wonderfully put together. Incredible imagery of a mysterious stranger seemingly appearing out of the ocean and making his way into a sleepy little town, backed by a powerful electronic soundtrack, sets expectations for what follows to an astronomically high level. Disappointingly, the rest of the film doesn’t live up to its opening.
Focusing on the mysterious appearance of, well, Liam Cunningham, Let Us Prey was pitched before its screening on Mayhem’s opening night as a kind of reverse Assault on Precinct 13. Which is probably accurate: Cunningham is incarcerated by Pollyanna McIntosh in one of the holding cells of the town police station,...

A movie about Nazi zombies – why am I not more excited? The Outpost franchise started some years ago with a Ray Stevenson led action thriller about German WWII bastards looking for that war defining game-changer – but this isn’t Call of Duty. Outpost was fun, don’t get me wrong, but we’re now three films into a franchise that most horror fans didn’t even know existed, and that’s the disheartening vibe our most recent film embodies. Doing nothing to expand upon the idea of shambling undead German soldiers, Outpost: Rise Of The Spetsnaz re-introduces the idea of Nazi zombies and does absolutely nothing worth noting. More tired franchise ideas and generic genre play with a dash of gooey, gory distractions – did you expect anything else?
During battle, a group of Russian Spetsnaz soldiers are taken captive by German forces looking to test their new breed of soldier.

Director: Neil Mackay. Writers: Sean McAulay and Neil Mackay. Cast: Bryan Larkin, Bob Cymbalski, Hugh Lambe, Damon E. White, Lee Sandford, Robert Nolan, Mark Monroe, and Frank Ieraci. Tagline: "There will be no peace." Battleground was previously called Skeleton Lake and this title can be considered a Canadian film. An accomplice tells them to wait it out at a nearby cabin until he can arrange an escape for them. Unfortunately for the criminals, a killer with no rhyme or reason,...
