Sara Elizabeth Joyce was born in Sydney, Australia. From an early age, she displayed a strong passion for the arts, performing in stage plays and musicals. Her dedication to her craft led her to pursue formal education in the arts. She graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 1995 and furthered her studies at The Actors Centre in 1996.
Sara's career in the film and theater industry began in the 1990s. Over the next two decades, she worked on more than 100 productions, both on stage and screen, in various capacities. Her diverse roles allowed her to develop a comprehensive skill set, eventually leading her to become a producer in Australia and Japan.
Sara's talents were soon recognized by major studios, and she began working on Hollywood productions at Fox/Disney Studios in Sydney. Some notable films she contributed to in the art department include "Pacific Rim 2," "Alien Covenant," and "Gods of Egypt." Sara's expertise and passion for independent cinema led her to actively seek out and finance independent productions, supporting emerging filmmakers.
In addition to her work in the arts, Sara has been actively involved in the political arena. From 2011 to 2020, she conducted hundreds of interviews in digital media, focusing on political issues. In 2019, she ran for the Australian federal senate, demonstrating her commitment to public service and advocacy.
Sara is an Emerging Member of the Australian Production Designer Guild (APDG) and a financial member of the Media Entertainment Arts Alliance (MEAA). She is also a member of the Australian Writers Guild (AWG), the Screen Producers Association (SPA), and the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards (AACTA). Her extensive involvement in the film community includes serving as a judge and coordinator for several film festivals, such as the Sci-fi Film Festival Sydney, Transgender International Film Festival, Fantastic Planet International Film Festival, A Night of Horror International Film Festival, Showfest, Actionfest, and NAFAfest in Sydney.
