"Why is it just because someone bites a neck, we're vampires?" Oy. Dread has unveiled an official trailer for an indie horror thriller film called Swap, described as "a twisted story of vampires living a life of blood and debauchery." The tagline: Fifty Shades of Red. Ha ha. This one is set for a VOD release later this week if any horror fans are interested. Dread presents Swap, the story of a young couple that is lured into the clutches of a bloodthirsty 500-year-old vampire who tries to persuade them to swap partners and then join his kind. "Dread in bed with Swap is a perfect combo that's ripe for those who love a tantalizing vampire story whose origins come from what happens with bored couples behind closed doors," says director Dallas King. "Just when you think you've seen it all, Swap brings a new take on the origin story of vampires.

Earlier this week, we got the surprise announcement that a belated sequel to classic 1980s fantasy movie Labyrinth is on the way. Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson is on hand to helm the follow-up, with the script coming from Maggie Levin. We don’t know any casting details just yet, but everyone’s already preoccupied by who could play the next Goblin King. David Bowie’s performance as the baby-stealing Jareth is one of, if not the, most popular things about the original and folks are very picky about who should replace him.
One star has risen to the top of the pile, though, and it’s Tilda Swinton. Just like Bowie, Swinton’s known for her otherworldly, androgynous energy, so you can see why folks want her to step into the late legend’s shoes, assuming anyone has to, of course. A quick search on social media will bring...

Check out the new poster and trailer for action thriller Kiss Kiss, which is written and directed by Dallas King, and stars Natascha Hopkins, Nathalia Castellon, Tamra Dae, and Janey B as four strip club dancers who are forced to fight for their lives by… Robert Wagner. No Not that one!
After a glorious night at the strip club, the film follows four dancers, Kiss (Natascha Hopkins), and her best friends Treasure (Tamra Dae) and Kurious (Janey B) as they are led by newcomer Tia (Nathalia Castellon) to an exclusive wine tasting. A beautiful day turns tragic when they wake up having been seduced by their captor and special forces veteran, Gibson (Robert Wagner), as he orchestrates a fight night that has each girl to battle against Fortune (Kyle Rae) and Dream (Kiersten Hall) to prove that he’s found the perfect serum to enhance a human’s fighting abilities in combat.

"This is warfare..." Cleopatra Entertainment has debuted the first official trailer for an indie action film titled Kiss Kiss, the latest feature made by director Dallas King. Everything about this film makes me feel uneasy, it's the epitome of a male fantasy turned into action sports and it's all so gross to see nowadays. Kiss Kiss is about four strip club "dancers" who go out for an evening of wine, but they end up being tricked and drugged, waking up to discover they're now combatants in an underground fighting contest. Now they must fight for their own lives, and for their freedom. The film stars Natascha Hopkins, along with Tamra Dae, Kylie Rae, Nathalia Castellon, Robert Wagner, Janey Bolina, Julia Farino, John Ross Clark, Nick Denbeigh, Thai Edwards, and Essam Ferris. It looks so bad in every way, but the trailer is free to watch if anyone wants to check this out.

It will hit theaters in 10 cities day-and-date on March 1. The pic, done in a partnership with Anheuser-Busch, follows a brewmaster at 10 Barrel Brewing Co traveling across Germany and Italy to discover the secrets to brewing a true Berliner Weisse; a beer educator and the Sugar Creek Brewing Co. head brewer attempting to pass the prestigious Master Cicerone exam; and chef/home brewer who attempts to discover the roots of culinary and brewing techniques culminating in him creating a 16th century feast. The film was produced by Swift, Owen and Mike Cooley’s One-Eleven Entertainment and Anheuser-Busch director of partnerships Jonathan Hack. Here’s the trailer:

I would be lying to you if I told you that I did not find anything about the concept of Hozon utterly enjoyable. Those closest to me would check me for a feverish and delusional state if I said so, because everything that filmmaker Dallas King is planning for his feature film is right up my godsdamned alley. A descendant of a famous samurai and a CEO to his biotech company accidentally unleashes a zombie horde with his research. Now he must fight his way to his daughter in the medical lab and rescue her, with sword clutched firmly in hand. Oh Hell. And Yes. The Director, Dallas King, wants to bring back the classic Horror and Action found in iconic films like Alien, The...

Will this multimillion-pound deal blight Britain's arthouse cinema landscape? Tell us what you think
Following news that multiplex operator Cineworld has acquired arthouse chain Picturehouse, concerns have been raised that the £47.3m deal will be detrimental to the smaller company's independent spirit.
Picturehouse currently runs 21 arthouse cinemas across the country, many of which have featured in the Guardian's Cine-files series, in which members of public rhapsodise over the places where they most love to watch films:
Duke of York's Picturehouse, Brighton
"Duke of York's is the quintessential old-world cinema – it is the UK's oldest purpose-built cinema and is considered – especially by me – as one of the best independent cinemas … Whether you're sitting in the comfy sofas or just enjoying a film in a regular cinema seat, the Duke of York's is a cinema every film-lover should experience and enjoy." Over the weekend, as most of us were reveling in Academy Awards thrills and chills, the nominations for another major movie award ceremony were announced, many miles, across the Atlantic Ocean; I’m referring to the 7-year old (this year) Africa Movie Academy Awards (Amaa), which will be held in Yenegoa, Bayelsa State (Nigeria) on Saturday, March 26, 2011.
This year’s nominations list boasts an even longer list of awards, compared to previous years, as the award ceremony continues to grow.
I’ll have to thoroughly scrub this list to highlight as many titles as I can – especially in the feature film categories, and I’ll do that with individual posts over the next week, or so. In the meantime, however, I’ll quickly point out those few titles that we’ve previously given ink to on this website, that are nominated for Amaa awards, including the following: in the Best Diaspora Feature,...
