“The Order” (2024) is a brooding investigative thriller that puts another feather in director Justin Kurzel’s cap. After the chilling character portraits in “Nitram” and “The Snowtown Murders,” Kurzel returns with an equally harrowing depiction of evil in human beings. This time, he shifts his focus toward a White Supremacist terrorist group that was active in the 1980s. He paints the picture of a small American town mainly through the eyes of an FBI agent, who ends up in a cat-and-mouse chase with the terrorist group’s members. Although the plot essentially leads us toward its leader’s capture, it is more interested in interrogating the human tendencies that affect the usual order of any place, and how people react in such situations of change.

The criminally underrated The Order did not gain as much attention as other titles released on the big screen in 2024. Last year provided moviegoers a number of critically acclaimed features across various genres, leaving the Justin Kurzel-directed crime thriller somewhat overshadowed. However, that doesn’t mean the film wasn’t a critical success, with a 92% Rotten Tomatoes score as of this writing. Now, the movie is bound to be introduced to a much wider audience this month. The Order — starringJude Lawand Nicholas Hoult — will be added to Hulu's extensive library starting April 18, 2025.

The crime thriller boasts an ensemble cast led by Law and Hoult, both of whom have impressive acting portfolios under their belts. Law, best known for his performance in 1999's The Talented Mr. Ripley, has continued to prove his range as an actor time and again with a range of genres, including comedy, thriller, drama, and action.

The Order is based on a non-fiction book, The Silent Brotherhood, which details the story of an FBI agent who takes down a white supremacist terrorist group in the Pacific Northwest. The Order is about hate, though not quite in the way you'd expect. It seems an obvious theme, given the story follows a white supremacist terrorist cell and the FBI's effort to stop them, and some space is given to the hateful doctrine they live by. But the movie is less interested in hate ideologically as it is in the feeling. And director Justin Kurzel is less interested in explaining that feeling than he is in observing it and its effects. Surround that goal with across-the-board quality, and you have a consistently tense crime thriller that leaves a lasting mark.

Jude Law's newest film may technically be a period piece loosely based on a true story from the past, but its resonance feels eerily prescient for the present, as well. And that may not be totally coincidental, as The Order's director Justin Kurzel recently revealed how the January 6 insurrection inspired the Neo-Nazi crime thriller.

The 51-year-old actor attended the premiere of his movie Eden with costars Sydney Sweeney, Ana de Armas and Vanessa Kirby on Saturday (September 7). The very next day, he was back on the red carpet for the premiere of his movie The Order.

He opted for a classic pin-striped suit for his second premiere of the festival.

AMC Networks’ premium service Shudder will be the exclusive streaming home for Channel Zero, the Syfy horror series.

Created for television by Nick Antosca and produced by Universal Cable Productions (Ucp), each six-episode installment features a new cast, new director and a new story arc. Shudder members can stream the first installment of Channel Zero starting Thursday, August 9, followed by the second installment in September, the third installment in October, and the fourth installment in 2019.

There is no scissoring in “Below Her Mouth.” That is about the only position missing from this 90-minute sex movie, which feels like an attempt to singlehandedly correct every misrepresentation of lesbian sex ever put onscreen. Many straight male directors have selflessly tackled the trope, including Park Chan-wook with “The Handmaiden” and Abdellatif Kechiche with “Blue is the Warmest Color.” While those films have artistic merit on their side, each feature laughably acrobatic scissoring positions, which no one should attempt at home, and could only have been imagined by someone who has never actually had lesbian sex.

The last weekend of April, and the “slower” spring movie season is ending this weekend, leading directly into the start of the lucrative summer box office next week. As has been the case in past years, the last couple weekends in April see a couple movies hoping to bring in any amount of money before the first big summer blockbuster, and other movies that will steal away their theaters. Last weekend was pretty sad, but hopefully a few of this weekend’s movies will fare better.

The movie that stands the best chance at finding an audience this weekend is the tech industry thriller The Circle...

A steamy trailer has arrived for Below Her Mouth, the latest drama from actor-turned-director April Mullen. Penned by Stephanie Fabrizi, the film follows Jasmine (Natalie Krill), a successful fashion editor who has a stable relationship until she meets Dallas (Erika Linder) at a club. Though she rejects Dallas’ dogged confidence, she cannot seem to shake the surprise she has been struck by. Soon, she gives in to her baser instincts and the two set off on an affair that causes questions to arise in both their lives.

Judging from this trailer, Below Her Mouth looks to be intimately shot, with striking lighting and lush mise en scéne. The fact that only women wrote and directed the film assures that its focus on female pleasure is rid of the male gaze, a welcome change from the fetishization of lesbianism that is often depicted in Hollywood. “Below Her Mouth” first premiered at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival. Now, the lesbian romance will make its theatrical debut in April. Directed by April Mullen and written by Stephanie Fabrizi, the film co-stars androgynous supermodel Erika Linder.

In “Below Her Mouth,” Jasmine (Natalie Krill) is a successful fashion editor who is happily engaged and planning her wedding with fiancé Rile (Sebastian Pigott). When she meets a lesbian roofer named Dallas (Linder), the two women embark on a steamy affair that makes both of them reevaluate her their lives and threatens Jasmine’s engagement.

Mullen’s film is among the first to receive an “F for female” rating on IMDb, as reported by Out, which first premiered the Us trailer for the film. In fact, it received a “Triple F” for being written, directed and starring women.

Last month, we reported that production has started on Saw: Legacy, with the first set photo that revealed someone had dug up the grave of John Kramer, a.k.a. Jigsaw. Unfortunately, no cast members have been confirmed yet, or even spotted on the set. But today we have new details that claim Jigsaw will in fact be back, with Tobin Bell reportedly involved in a scene with another returning character, Jon Cor's Ryan from Saw 3D. None of these details have been confirmed at this time.

Bloody-Disgusting's source reports that one of the traps in this film will include "some spike strips and motorcycles." As for Jigsaw's return, we don't know how he will be brought back from the dead, but after the photo surfaced of his grave being dug up, it's possible that he is somehow revived to continue his quest to get people to appreciate the life they have.

An unexpected romance can feel like a bolt of lightning, a powerful experience that must be felt to be truly understood. April Mullen’s latest film “Below Her Mouth” captures that feeling in its story of two women who suddenly and passionately fall in love.

Successful fashion editor Jasmine (Natalie Krill) lives with her fiancé, Rile (Sebastian Pigott), but one night out in the city, she meets Dallas (Erika Linder, in her film debut), a roofer recently out of a relationship. Jasmine is surprised when Dallas confidently hits on her. Though she turns her down, Jasmine can’t get Dallas out of her head, and in a manner of days, the two women embark on a steamy affair. Their relationship feels like a fantasy away from Jasmine’s plans with Rile, but reality soon rears its ugly head, and Jasmine is forced confront the profound changes their romance has brought into her life.

After a promising initial line-up, the Toronto International Film Festival has delivered more titles with their full Canadian slate. Among the line-up is Xavier Dolan‘s It’s Only the End of the World, Bruce MacDonald‘s new feature Weirdos, Deepa Mehta‘s Anatomy of Violence, as well as Two Lovers and a Bear, starring Tatiana Maslany and Dane DeHaan, which we have the first trailer for today.

We said in our review from Cannes, “Kim Nguyen’s Two Lovers and a Bear is a film that suffers from a bit of an identity crisis. Like an indie playlist stuck on constant shuffle, unapologetically reveling in a sort of manic unclassifiable genre. This isn’t always necessarily a bad thing, but, for some reason, Nguyen’s scattershot tonal shifts — which hop between a romance on the rocks; a self-serious study of grieving; and a surreal buddy comedy — can prove quite jarring.

It’s been a busy week for Revenge‘s Elena Satine. First, she was promoted to series regular — and now, Louise is getting a brother!

New photos from Sunday’s episode showcase the arrival of Sebastian Pigott (Ascension, Being Erica) as Lyman, the golden child of the Ellis family. Though, honestly, how could you not be the golden child when Louise is your sister?

(Side note: Not to be presumptuous, but given their similar attire, could Louise’s brother possibly be a match for Nolan? As if their friendship could get any weirder…)

Ellen Barkin‘s new normal is to be Happyish.

The New Normal actress has joined Showtime’s half-hour pilot, starring British thesp Steve Coogan and Kathryn Hahn (Transparent, Parks and Recreation).

The project — which went from series order back to the pilot stage after its original leading man, Philip Seymour Hoffman, passed away — is a described as “a comedic, soul-searching examination of our pursuit of happiness, a pursuit that might just be the very thing causing our unhappiness in the first place.”

Barkin will guest-star in the pilot as a headhunter who works closely with Coogan’s character.

Shaw Media in Canada has cancelled Bomb Girls after two seasons. The TV series airs on Global Television in Canada and on ReelzChannel here in the Us.

Bomb Girls revolves around a group of Canadian women who work in a munitions factory as they build bombs for the Allies during World War II. The cast includes Meg Tilly, Jodi Balfour, Charlotte Hegele, Ali Liebert, Antonio Cupo, Sebastian Pigott, Peter Outerbridge, Anastasia Phillips, Jim Codrington, and Lisa Norton. Rosie O'Donnell guest-starred during the second season.

Though there won't be a third season, Global has ordered a two-hour movie that will wrap up the series. A release notes that it "will conclude the rich storylines and the amazing journeys of these beloved characters which have strongly resonated with the show’s loyal fans."

The girls are together again, Vera (Anastasia Phillips) appears to be back to her carefree self, Gladys (Jodi Balfour) is reunited with James (Sebastian Pigott) and Betty (Ali Liebert) is still in love with Kate (Charlotte Hegele)… but why is everyone at Victory Munitions hiding in the bomb shelter…and did Bob just hit Marco?
