- Paul Van Roey was born on May 31, 1924 in Herentals, Flanders, Belgium. He was an actor, known for De tijdscapsule (1963), Kapitein Zeppos (1964) and Tijl Uilenspiegel (1961). He died on February 24, 2022 in Wilrijk, Flanders, Belgium.
- The legendary teacher of Sint-Jan Berchmanscollege, Sint-Lievenscollege and Onze-Lieve-Vrouwecollege is remembered by generations as the man who taught them the 'spoken word'.
- He studied at Studio Herman Teirlinck, where he was one of the first graduates in 1949. Jef Burm, Ward De Ravet and Dora Van der Groen were contemporaries and fellow students with whom he entered the theater.
- Van Roey was also an actor and director.
- Paul Van Roey did freelance work for radio and television and later also chose education. There he warmed his colleagues to the stage. For example, in the 1980s he directed the teachers' theater in Sint-Jan, which attracted full houses in the De Kern hall in Wilrijk.
- Anyone who had Van Roey in class will never forget that. He had a very unique teaching style, jumping effortlessly from language and diction to general life lessons and jokes, and kept his boys on their toes with tongue twisters.
