He is first Cousin to the first Bahamian Olympic medalist, Frank Rutherford Jr. and second Cousin to the first black Academy Award winner, for Best Actor, Sir Sidney Poitier, from his Father's side. Kourtney is also second Cousin to nationally renown African-American, abstract expressionist artist, James Denmark, on his Mother's side. Kourtney's Father, James Eugene Brown became a prominent Bahamian real estate mogul in the islands of the Bahamas from the mid 70's to his death in 1996.
