It’s safe to say I was one of the Only people who reviewed that screening and that cut positively (and then went on to review the recut just as glowingly) and saw what Zampaglione was trying to achieve.

Federico Zampaglione’s new horror film The Well will have its world premiere at Sitges this Friday, October 6th. It will have its North American premiere at LA Screamfest the following week, on Tursdya, October 12th. The poster for the flick was unvealed today. It features actress and model Melanie Gaydos standing behind a well that is overflowing with blood. A bold choice, as lead actress Lauren Lavera is still riding the wave of success from Terrifier 2 and that would usually be what a production would want to put front and center in their marketing. Hopefully there will be more about The Well in the coming days as the premieres roll out. Poster art for Federico Zampaglione’s new horror film The Well...

With the announcement of this year's lineup of films playing at Sitges this year comes the push from individual films to stand out from the derth of programming. One such film that caught our attention at the production stages was Federico Zampaglione's supernatural horror flick, The Well. It was primarily because his upcoming film cast Terrifier 2's Lauren Lavera in the lead role. That extreme dose of graphic horror was still doing bonkers business in the box office so Lavera quickly became a household name among horror fans. So, we're really curious to see if that fandom carries over to other horror projects that she will be involved in, such as The Well. The Well will have its world premiere at Sitges next...

This month’s installment of Deep Cuts Rising features a variety of horror movies, with each one reflecting a special event or day in May.
Regardless of how they came to be here, or what they’re about, these past movies can generally be considered overlooked, forgotten or unknown.
This month’s offerings include a tense battle between mothers, a tale of evil in the suburbs, a fast-food slasher, a twisty wartime horror story, and an indie slow burn with a Hitchcockian vibe.
You’ll Like My Mother (1972)
Directed by Lamont Johnson.
The movie stars Oscar winner Patty Duke as young widow Francesca, who’s visiting her late husband’s mother (Rosemary Murphy) for the first time at a remote house in snowy Minnesota. Soon things take a turn when Francesca becomes not only stranded at her in-law’s house, but also drugged and taken prisoner.

Damned leprechauns. At the end of last week our first look at Federico Zampaglione's The Well, their dark supernatural thriller currently filming in and around Rome. The big draw for international horror fans is that Terrifier 2's Lauren Lavera is part of the cast. Along with the main image we also see another shot of Lavera with co-star Claudia Gerini. Then the money shot is of Giovanni Lombardo Radice getting their throat slashed. We will strive to be more on top...

I didn’t enjoy Terrifier 2 very much, but I was very impressed by the performance delivered by heroine Lauren Lavera, who came off as a star on the rise – and who seemed like such a badass in her confrontation with Art the Clown, I could see her becoming a major force in the action genre, if that’s a path she’s interested in taking. As she continues on her way to stardom, Lavera has signed on to star in a supernatural thriller called The Well – and our friends at Bloody Disgusting were able to dig up some exclusive details on the project.
Federico Zampaglione (Tulpa: Demon of Desire) will be directing The Well and has also written the screenplay with producer Stefano Masi. The film will see Lavera taking on the role of Lisa Gray, a budding art restorer, who travels to a small Italian village to...

Nidhi Gupta
This week sees the launch of the fundraising campaign for Start.Stop.Repeat., a documentary intended to explore the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic from the point of view of those working on the front line. By looking at events in the context of previous pandemics, the film will seek to learn lessons so that we can improve the way we do things in future.
While many filmmakers have found ways of engaging with the pandemic - such as Federico Zampaglione, who made shorts Tulpa & Shadow and Bianca: Phase 2 in his own home, and Rob Savage, who made Host with most of his actors shooting their scenes in isolation - Nidhi Gupta's film will be one of the first documentaries to address the pandemic head on. As well as being a filmmaker, Gupta is a doctor who has been directly involved in treating Covid-19 patients, an experience that.

Italian musician and film director Federico Zampaglione has followed up on his well-received short movie Bianca, with an even more horrific study of Italy under lockdown – Bianca: Phase 2. Again shot on his iPad in three days and starring his ten year old daughter alongside his current partner, actress Giglia Marra, Zampagione, who created, edited and produced the film single-handedly, has cast his former wife, actress Claudia Gerini in a cameo role and, obeying lockdown rules, involved only family members in the location roles – Marco and Giula Chermaz, his cousin and nephew respectively.
Phase 2 of the Italian lockdown has begun and Bianca (Linda Zampagilone) and her mother (Giglia Marra) decide to go to the reopened local park to enjoy their new found freedom in the sun. But an evil presence is stalking them and when Bianca is kidnapped, her mother enters a nightmare world trying to find and save her daughter from a terrible danger.

Italian musician and film director Federico Zampaglione has released his latest movie Bianca, a stylishly violent short horror thriller online to watch for free. Shot in lockdown in Italy on his iPad in three days and starring his ten year old daughter Linda in the title role and his partner, actress Giglia Marra, the film was co-written by Zampaglione and Gianluigi Perrone.
Federico explains how Bianca, which centres on the tense unpredictable relationship between a girl and her mother at home, came about:
My daughter was getting a little bored being at home for so long with nothing entertaining to do, so I suggested to her and my girlfriend Giglia, that we do a little film – have some fun together and stay in a better mood. It’s very important right now to stay positive through the tough times we are going through. On top of this I had the...

I am incredibly pleased to announce that one of my favourite giallo of all time (and I say that without a hint of sarcasm or irony – just go back and read my reviews of the film to see that), Tulpa is Finally getting a UK release! High Fliers Films and Jinga Films have this week announced the long awaited UK DVD release of Federico Zampaglione’s sensational neo-giallo horror – which is set to hit UK stores on May 9th 2016.
Italian rock star Federico Zampaglione burst on to the genre scene in 2010 with psychological horror Shadow, which was released by IFC Midnight in North America and Wild Bunch in the UK. Determined to de-throne Dario Argento as the king of Italian horror, Zampaglione quickly followed up with Tulpa, a homage to the aformentioned Il Duce of giallo. Watchmen writer Alan Moore to attend world premiere of his screenwriting debut, Show Pieces.

World premieres include Show Pieces, comprising three tales written by Alan Moore, the writer of graphic novels including Watchmen, The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, From Hell, Constantine and V For Vendetta.
It marks the first time Moore has written for the screen and the short is directed by his close friend and acclaimed photographer Mitch Jenkins.
The interconnected trilogy kicks off with Act of Faith in which a young woman looking for the next step in sexual excitement finds it with unfortunate consequences. Shadow
Written by Giacomo Gensini, and Domenico & Federico Zampaglione
Directed by Federico Zampaglione
Italy, 2009
When a film ends and the audience walks out the doors of a movie theater, shuts off their TVs, or switches the channel, there’s a certain reaction that is expected. That reaction can be excitement, anger, derision, joy, and so forth and so on. The gist is that a movie should engender some sort of reaction from the audience. Shadow is the type of film that fails to elicit any type of reaction from the audience. It’s so poorly made that being derisive towards the film serves no point. The proceedings in the film are so bland that there’s nothing to get excited about. Shadow is stupid on a level that doesn’t even allow for anger from the viewer. When one walks away from Shadow no reaction should be present. Without any sort of reaction,...

Italian actress Claudia Gerini is best known to UK audiences for appearances in The Passion of the Christ, Penelope Cruz’s Don’t Move and as a memorable villain in the TV adaptation of Kate Mosse’s Labyrinth. Audiences will soon be able to see her in the mad Italian sex-thriller Tulpa, directed by her husband Federico Zampaglione, whose previous film was the neat little horror, Shadow. A throwback to the classic Italian giallo horror-thrillers of the 1960s and 70s, Tulpa concerns a beautiful banker, Lisa (Gerini) whose life becomes a nightmare when members of the sex club she frequents begin turning up dead.

Tul-pa (from the Tibetan): meaning a magically produced illusion or creation. The concept of a being or object which is created through sheer discipline alone. It is a materialized thought that has taken physical form.
Italian rock star turned director Federico Zampaglione made a splash in 2009 when his first film Shadow played to a packed audience at London’s Frightfest. Returning some three years later, Zampaglione unleashed Tulpa on an eager and willing horror-hungry audience. I originally reviewed Tulpa after the Frightfest screening last August in London and whilst I loved the film for it’s classic giallo trappings and gloriously Ott murders, many attendees felt differently.

We did the limited edition Blu of Intruder with the workprint (sold out in 3 weeks), and last year we did the limited edition Blu of The Definitive Document Of The Dead...

Say what you will about his recent output, Dario Argento is still a legend in the horror community. The Italian director has released so many quality horror films and has given us so many nightmarish images over the years that I’m surprised that I can sleep at all at night. Two of these classics from the director will be making their way for the first time on Blu-ray in the states. Phenomena and Tenebrae will both be seeing a hi-def release courtesy of Synapse Films later this year. Arrow Video has previously released both of these in the UK and abroad, but U.S. fans will finally get to see the gory details of these two films on Blu-ray. Synapse spoke to Fangoria about the upcoming release of these two films along with a pair of other features you may have heard of:

Calum Waddell of High Rising Productions, who’s producing those extras, let us know what to look forward to: “We have some really meaty stuff—lengthy interviews and in-depth personality profiles,” he tells Fango. “The kind of material that we hope people expect from High Rising by now! We have brand new interviews on Demons with [1st through 4th photos below] Lamberto Bava, Dario Argento, stuntman Ottaviano Dell’Acqua, Alan Jones, the worldwide authority on all things Argento-related, and Luigi Cozzi, who contextualizes the Demons films and speaks about the unofficial sequels—including how his own movie The Black Cat ended up as Demons 6 in some territories! For Demons 2, we have Lamberto again, composer Simon Boswell [5th photo below], assistant director Roy Bava, effects maestro Sergio Stivaletti and Federico Zampaglione, the new blood of Italian horror [director of Shadow and the upcoming Tulpa], chatting about Demons and how it has inspired him.
