John Higgins was born on 18 May 1975 in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, Scotland, UK. He has been married to Denise Higgins since 2000. They have three children.
He was awarded the M.B.E. (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2008 Queen's New Years Honors List for his services to the sport of snooker.
