Asa Pictures has unveiled an official trailer for a strange indie romantic comedy titled One Last Night, which is the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Anthony Sabet. The film premiered at the Santa Barbara Film Festival last year, though it's only now finally getting a small theatrical + VOD release at the end of this summer. The film is about two people, Alex and Zoe, out on a first date together at the movie theater. But after it's over and they try to leave, they discover they're locked in. Starring Rachele Schank and Luke Brandon Field as the couple. The official synopsis makes it sound like there's something nefarious, but this trailer makes it look super cute and adorable and a little cheesy, as expected. Castings

Sean Astin has been cast in a pair of upcoming feature films: “Mayfield’s Game” opposite Mira Sorvino and “Charming The Hearts of Men” opposite Kelsey Grammer.

Astin is best known for portraying Samwise Gamgee in “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy (2001–2003) and Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger in “Rudy.” He also played Bob Newby in the second and third season of “Stranger Things” and will appear in the second part of his show “No Good Nick,” which premieres Aug. 5 on Netflix.

CineLife Entertainment has partnered with CBS Home Entertainment as the North American theatrical distributor for 1969’s “A Boy Named Charlie Brown” and 1972’s “Snoopy, Come Home.

Despite the devastating mudslides that overwhelmed the Santa Barbara, California community of Montecito last week — resulting in at least 20 deaths and the destruction of 100-plus homes — the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (Sbiff) will go on as usual. A reason to celebrate is “needed now more than ever,” wrote Sbiff director Roger Durling in a letter soon to be shared with festival-goers. He continued, “It is an opportunity for people to gather – reflect – experience – feel – and process,” noting that cinema attendance was strong during the Great Depression.

Launched in 1986, this year’s Sbiff will include films from 58 countries. Numbered among its 45 world premieres is opening night film “the public,” the first feature written and directed by Emilio Estevez since 2010’s “The Way.” Set at a Cincinnati public library, the film follows its homeless and marginalized patrons during a dangerous cold spell.
