Bloodmoon had the potential to be just as stunning as Game of Thrones, judging by the detailed costumes and set design seen in the BTS images of Naomi Watts. The canceled prequel could have expanded on the origins of House Lannister and Casterly Rock, offering a deeper exploration of the world of Westeros during the Age of Heroes. Bloodmoon had the opportunity to answer important questions about the White Walkers and provide context for the events of Game of Thrones' final season, enhancing the overall viewing experience.
Images have surfaced from Game of Thrones' canceled prequel show, Bloodmoon, and it shows just how much was lost when HBO scrapped the project. HBO was looking at spinoffs even before Game of Thrones' ending, with the prequel taking place in the Age of Heroes and building to The Long Night put into development. ‘Please Baby Please’ Trailer: Karl Glusman and Andrea Riseborough Turn Heads in Gay Musical Fantasia
One of the wildest, campiest, least apologetic films of the 2022 festival season is “Please Baby Please.” Amanda Kramer’s 1950s-set LGBT musical thriller tells the story of a straight-passing married couple who begin questioning their conceptions of gender, sexuality, and monogamy after witnessing a murder and becoming involved with a greaser gang known as the Young Gents. The movie premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival and was soon acquired by Music Box Films, who is giving it a theatrical release later this year.
“There are many things we love about this film, including Andrea Riseborough’s fierce and fearless performance,” said Music Box Films’ Brian Andreotti. “Director Amanda Kramer’s bold mise en scene and stylized 1950s iconography combine to give adventurous audiences a highly entertaining musing on gender roles and desire that is both timely and timeless,”

Is there anything more romantic than a yacht in New York City’s harbor, illuminated by the yellow-orange of the setting sun and backdropped by the Statue of Liberty, a mirage in the distance? What about if the sunset-drenched yacht was filled with Amazon Studios producers and television stars, relieved that their show, about love and human connection filmed in the middle of Covid-19, finally made it to the small screen?
On Monday night, Prime Video and Fire TV hosted the premiere party for the second season of “Modern Love,” Amazon’s anthology series based on the New York Times column, on a yacht overflowing with lobster rolls and service people dressed in sailor uniforms.
“I’m seeking out things that are escapist,” said Andrew Rannells without a touch of irony, who directed and wrote one of the season’s episodes based on a fraught one-night stand from his young adulthood.

Love is in the air once again, as Amazon Prime Video released the trailer Thursday for the second season of its romantic anthology series “Modern Love.” As you’d expect, the sneak peek features several meet-cutes, including an adorable, flirtatious exchange of glances between two strangers on a train, played by “Game of Thrones” alum Kit Harington and “The Politician” star Lucy Boynton.
In the trailer, which you can view via the video above, “Modern Love’s” Season 2 lineup of romantic pairings is teased, with Boynton and Harington being the first duo revealed. They walk away from the experience agreeing to meet on the train again in two weeks — but Harington’s friend says she’s “never going to show.” While we worry about the fate of that potential couple, the teaser moves on to introduce us to several more, whom you will meet properly when the season launches Aug.

The horror genre is a fun one in that it can go in many directions, but it is often dominated by men in front of and behind the camera. Hulu’s new anthology series Monsterland, which debuts Friday, subverts that expectation with a female showrunner and a cast and crew dominated by women.
Monsterland creator and showrunner Mary Laws was joined by actress Kelly Marie Tran and director of photography Anka Malatynska and director Desiree Akhavan at the virtual PaleyFest Fall TV Previews event to talk about the new series and how it champions female narratives.
“I think that its safe to say that as forward-moving as Hollywood is, I don’t think there are opportunities for women’s stories on screen, for women in leadership roles and for women protagonist roles,” said Laws. “I think so often I found myself in a room with a lot of men making...

HBO is going to back to Westeros… again. The pay-cable network is nearing a pilot order for a second spinoff of its hugely popular “Game of Thrones” series, this one based on the Targaryen family, TheWrap has learned.
HBO declined to comment on the potential spinoff, which was first reported by Deadline, but an individual with knowledge of the project confirmed the report’s accuracy to TheWrap.
The series is from “Game of Thrones” author George R.R. Martin and “Colony” co-creator Ryan Condal. It would be set 300 years before the events of the HBO fantasy series, which wrapped its eight-season run earlier this year. Representatives for Condal and Martin did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.

HBO’s upcoming Game of Thrones prequel has yet to be given an official title, but that’s not stopping George R.R. Martin from trying to dub it himself. The author has referred in the past to the series as The Long Night, which the network has denied as being the name. In a recent chat with Entertainment Weekly, however, the writer revealed what he hopes to be the moniker for the show when all is said and done.
“I heard a suggestion that it could be called The Longest Night, which is a variant I wouldn’t mind,” he says. “That would be pretty good.”
Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, but such a title would be a fitting representation of how many fans feel on Sunday nights now that the original series is over. The prequel has been filming under the production label of Blood Moon, though...

“When They See Us,” Ava DuVernay’s dramatization of the wrongful arrest and conviction of five black teenagers in New York City after the rape of a Central Park jogger 20 years ago, has been the most-viewed series on Netflix for the past 13 days.

”A large part of what the story is, is about redressing the media narratives and how these boys — and men now — were done wrong in the narratives that were told that around them and about them and that’s one of them,” ‘When They See Us’ actor Joshua Jackson told Variety on the red carpet at the Aclu SoCal’s luncheon. The actor was talking about reframing the men as the “Exonerated Five.”
“In calling them the ‘Central Park Five,’ we reinforce this idea — that they were there and had anything to do with this — that that was the central backbone of their life. But they’re not allowed to move on from it. They are exonerated and they are the victims of this case, not the perpetrators.”
Jackson noted that the series was initially titled “The Central Park Five,” before it was changed to “When They See Us.” “I’ll just say for myself,...

When They See Us
In 2012, Ken Burns made the documentary called The Central Park Five. Wamg’s Melissa Thompson wrote how the film told of the story of five black teenagers who were arrested in 1989 for the brutal beating and rape of a woman jogger in New York’s Central Park .
“What followed was one of the worst miscarriages of justice anyone could ever imagine. Starting with the New York City cops who interrogated the boys without parents or lawyers present, to the media, who created a mob-mentality screaming with bloodlust, with their tabloid headlines and made up term “wilding wolf pack” to whip the public into a frenzy of demands for the death penalty.
And all the while these poor kids had nothing to do with the horrific crime, other than the fact that they were in the park on that same night. There was absolutely no evidence connecting them to the case,...

This When They See Us review contains no spoilers except historical.
New York City was displaced over the past generation as gentrification became tourism friendly. The seeds of the changing face of the city come from the urban fears which gave rise to films like Taxi Driver and Death Wish. The 1980s saw a subway vigilante symbolize knee-jerk reactionaries to a nationwide audience. The decade ended on headlines of a horrifically callous rape in Central Park and teenage "wilding." When They See Us is a long hard look at an open wound which finally offers something more than a scab as healing.
Ava DuVernay, who directed the four installments, and co-wrote the screenplay with Attica Locke, Robin Swicord, Michael Starrbury and Julian Breece, does an amazing job. Parts of When They See Us hurt to watch,...

Last month we reported that Netflix is coming out with a four-part series entitled When They See Us, chronicling the story of the Central Park Five, five young teenaged boys of color who were falsely accused of the violent attack and rape of a woman in Central Park, New York in 1989.
The first trailer focused on the trial and conviction of the boys, while this new trailer shows them as men who’ve spent the end of their childhoods and beginning of their adult lives in prison for something they didn’t do, and are now trying to acclimate to life.
The series was written and directed by Ava DuVernay, and has an incredible ensemble cast that includes Jovan Adepo (Fences), newcomer Asante Blackk, Marsha Stephanie Blake (Orange Is The New Black), Emmy Award Nominee Michael Kenneth Williams, Academy Award Nominee Vera Farmiga, Emmy Award Winner John Leguizamo, Academy Award...

Ava DuVernay, earnestly and repeatedly, is looking to America’s youth to find inspiration for its future. Her last feature, the ambitious “Wrinkle in Time” adaptation, focused on a young girl trying to find her long-lost father, and its star, Storm Reid, appears briefly in the director’s next piece, “When They See Us.” Retelling events surrounding the notorious Central Park jogger case by focusing on the boys wrongfully convicted of the crime, the limited series once titled “Central Park 5” examines yet another theft of innocence — this one systemically enforced by America’s powers that be.
“When They See Us” hits hardest in its final hour, which is a break in format both much-needed and illustrative of what was missing in the previous three. Focusing on one of the convicted kids and tracking his experience from the shocking ruling to its overdue dismissal decades later, DuVernay finds a potent blend of style and substance,...

Prequels are coming.
Fans looking for their next fix after “Game of Thrones,” rest assured, plans are already in the works to cash in on George R.R. Martin’s expansive fantasy universe. HBO has been tight-lipped about details, but at least one prequel series has already been ordered with four others in development.
Ancient History
The one confirmed prequel is set thousands of years before the original series. That means we won’t see any familiar faces, but there still could be some recognizable Starks, Lannisters or Baratheons running around Westeros.
The series will show the world plunge into its darkest hour after the Age of Heroes ended long ago. Martin informally referred to the series as “The Long Night” in a blog post, alluding to the winter that lasted a generation nearly 10,000 years ago, and caused widespread terror and famine. The show will explore the origins of the White Walkers,...

We have a chilling trailer for you today for a four part series coming to Netflix called When They See Us, a miniseries chronicling the case of the Central Park Five. In April of 1989, 28 year old Trisha Meili, a white women, was jogging through Central Park. She was violently attacked and raped and was left in a coma for 12 days. At the time, five teenage boys of color were charged with assault, robbery, riot, rape, sexual abuse, and attempted murder. This was despite the fact that none of their DNA matched the rape kit, and all of their confessions were thought to be false or coerced. All the young men were sentenced to between five and fifteen years in prison. A serial rapist later confessed to the crime, and the young men were exonerated. But the wrongful conviction and time in prison could not be erased.

Netflix has released the trailer for Ava DuVernay’s “When They See Us,” a four-part limited series about the wrongly convicted Central Park Five.
Based on the true case of five teenagers of color, labeled the Central Park Five, who were convicted of a rape they did not commit, the show follows the young men in the spring of 1989 when they are first questioned about the brutal assault of a Caucasian female jogger in New York’s Central Park. The later part of the series will also see them as men, spanning 25 years and highlighting their exoneration in 2002 and the settlement they reached with the city of New York in 2014.
“Why are they doing us like this?” one of the boys asks in the trailer. “What other way they ever do us?” replies another.
The trailer shows snippets of courtroom battles, press coverage and family devastation in the wake of the trial and subsequent convictions.
