Maurice Thorez was born on 28 April 1900 in Noyelles-Godault, Pas-de-Calais, France. He was a writer, known for Trois discours, 1ère partie - Maurice Thorez: S'unir, combattre, travailler (1945), Life Is Ours (1936) and L'homme que nous aimons le plus (1949). He was married to Jeannette Thorez-Vermeersch. He died on 11 July 1964 in aboard a Soviet cruise ship, near Varna in the Black Sea.
