Mumbai, June 11: A prayer meeting was organised here Tuesday for Priyanka Chopra's father Ashok Chopra, who died in a Mumbai hospital battling cancer.

Mumbai, June 10: Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra's father Ashok Chopra, who passed away Monday afternoon, was cremated Monday evening at Oshiwara crematorium here.

Actress and singer Priyanka Chopra’s father Dr Ashok Chopra sadly passed away today. The retired Army colonel and physician was suffering from cancer, and was undergoing treatment when he passed away at 12.30pm (Ist). He was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital in Mumbai, around 17 days ago and was undergoing treatment for the cancer for the last few years, when his condition deteriorated and passed away suddenly.

Mumbai, June 10: Bollywood celebrities condoled the death of Ashok Chopra, and said to his bereaved actress-daughter Priyanka Chopra "be strong".

Ashok Chopra, who was hospitalised at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital here two weeks ago, passed away Monday afternoon after battling cancer.

A doctor himself, Chopra had retired from the Indian Army in 1997 as a lieutenant colonel. He is survived by his wife Madhu, also a former army doctor, daughter Priyanka and son Siddharth.
